I’ve just got the news that the edit is now finally IFDB approved!

Thank you all so much! ❤️

Congrats. I remember the hoops I had to jump through to get Army of the Republic approved back in the day. They have high standards!

Thanks so much Smudger! They absolutely do. Thanks so much for your original TCW movies, they really started this whole thing for me. I still maintain them for those who continue to request them! I’m proud my edit can stand alongside yours.

You’ve put a hell of a lot of work into it. I’m glad someone has taken the Clone Wars and made it great through to completion. I wish I could have finished my project, sadly other priorities in life get in the way!

Andor EP2: The Reckoning 4K [RELEASED]
Time

Stick a fork in it… its done. I made one last minute adjustment to add in the post credits scene as the final scene. Its currently rendering and this evening I’ll tidy up the artwork whilst the files are uploading. It should be available to view tomorrow (once Googledrive has laboriously processed the files!).

These Andor edits have been a pleasure to work on and whilst its real shame that season 2 is so far off, its nice to draw a line under the series for now so that I can concentrate on the Mandalorian, and maybe a brief foray back into animation.

Mando EP4: Return to Mandalore 4K [RELEASED]
Time

I can’t believe how random and disjointed this season feels. Coupled with the fact that I’m contemplating moving elements from BOBF, I’m probably going to pause any active editing at this point. I suspect I’m going to have to work “back to front” on this instalment so it makes sense to wait until the season is complete. There is a huge amount of footage that I’d like to cut but you never know whether it will end up being essential until everything has played out, especially when Filoni is involved (I love Dave BTW).

In terms of this latest episode I really want to remove the whole Terradactyl scene but now they have the babies, it probably makes it impossible. The sequence certainly needs to be edited down to a minimum.

I hope the second half of the season is more structured. So far I’m sensing a huge amount of editing will be required to pull this all together… At least I’ve completed my Andor edits to clear the way…

Since discovering your Mandalorian edits, I have begun experimenting with my own versions of Mandalorian films, adopting elements of your edits.
It’s nothing special or extremely different from your versions, just the movies I want to watch again upon rewatches.

With the release of Season 3, I was also looking for ways to incorporate all of the Mando stuff from The Book of Boba Fett into the third instalment of my Mandalorian film series.
And I think I have found a good way to introduce Mando’s quest in the mines of Mandalore by combining the scene in the Mandalorian hideout from BOBF with the dialogue from the Armorer’s cave, while also setting up his visit to Grogu.
The audio needs some more work, but here is a sample:

https://streamable.com/4ue7oa

I do not know if it fits your plans, but I’ll definitely use it for mine.

That works really well. A simple change but very effective. It acts a very good signpost for his journey. Having decided to cut Mando’s first appearance on the covert planet, I’ll utilise a similar change to make it seamless.

I’ve managed to make major inroads into this edit this week.
I have completed the second cut, built the 5.1 Soundmix and done a third scan of the transition points.
It weighs in at 2h57, which is curiously exactly the same length as Episode 1. I would have liked it slightly shorter, but the material is just so good I didn’t want to make excessive cuts and lose the story beats.
All that is left are 8 audio transitions that need a little work including one that needs re-scoring.
It is shaping up really nicely.
Here is the list of alterations.

Broad Changes

Edited to introduce a time skip between this and the previous movie edit.
Andor is captured off screen during the time skip to eliminate the Niamos scenes. His capture is explained in the opening text.
The remaining elements of Episode 7 have been used as the opening scenes to set the hunt for Andor as the driver of the first act.
Syril’s Coruscant scenes that were cut from the previous edit are utilised but his mother is removed. His scenes at the Bureau of Standards are used as a juxtaposition to Andor’s scenes in prison - this makes far more sense than using Mon Mothma, which is how Episode 8 was cut.
Vel now leaves Coruscant after she is ordered to find Andor and doesn’t return. Her unnecessary connection to Mon Mothma is removed.
Linus Mosk is cut completely. This gives Syril’s character more strength and autonomy. Syril’s presence on Ferrix is largely cut. He only appears when he rescues Dedra.
Andor’s return to Ferrix from Episode 7 is utilised for two dream flashback sequences whilst he’s on Narkina-5. Using these scenes chronologocally impacted on the pacing and structure of the two movies, so they had to be removed. They are, however, essential for Andor and Marrva’s character arcs and the ISB’s investigations.
Mon Mothma’s scenes are largely cut. Only the basic plot regarding her finances and sacrifice of her daughter remains.

Detailed Changes
Opening sequence and text to match Episode 1
Syril’s arrival on Coruscant from EP4 is intercut with Kleya meeting with Vel from EP7 and Dedra briefing Yularen and the ISB from EP8.
Syril arrives at the appartment but his mother is cut. We then see him in his room looking at the hologram of Andor.

Episode 8
Sharp cut to Andor arriving on Narkina. The arrival sequence is edited to be continuous.
Cut to Syril arriving for his first day at the Bureau of Standards from EP7.
Cut to Andor in his prison uniform being delivered to his unit. Sequence is shortened to remove the uneccessary interplay between the guards about staffing levels.
Sprint segmnent on the factory floor is cut.
Cut from Andor’s face as he realises what he’s got to do during his sentence, to Syril at his Bureau work station from EP7.
Cut to Andor on the brdge at the end of the shift. The prison dormitory orientation sequence plays out as one scene with the Mon Mothma scenes cut, and placed later in the edit.
We cut from Andor reflecting in the darkness of his pod to the first flashback scene from EP7 on Ferrix where Andor returns for Maarva.
Cut to Andor in the dark pod and the 30 shift timeskip.
Cut to Syril at the Bureau as the ISB arrive to take him in for questioning.
Hard cut straight to Syril in the ISB interrogation room as Dedra arrives.
Cut to the prison as a normal shift unfolds.
Cut to Syril’s second interrogation scene.
Present time Ferrix scenes of Brasso and Bix with Maarva and the watching Vel and Sinta. Vel and Sinta heavily edited to remove reference to Vel leaving Sinta on her own.
Ferrix and Luthen/Cleya scenes play out in sequence but with the scene of Vel leaving Ferrix being cut.
Cut to nightime prison scene where the prisoner is about to commit suicide but add in shot of Andor sleeping. Then cut to the second Ferrix Flashback scene where Maarva tells Andor she is staying on Ferrix. The Flashbacks of young Andor v the Clones are removed to avoid having a flashback within a flashback. Cut Maarva “That’s just love… nothing you can do about that” - those lines never sat well with me. References to Andor’s sister are cut.
Cut back to a reversed, trimmed shot of the prison dormitory and then Andor sleeping as the fellow prisoner jumps to his death.
Cut back to Ferrix scene where Bix is spotted - “Get Heeeeeer” is cut.
Cut to Luthen and Saw. Part of Saw’s rant is removed.
Cut to Bix’s capture and meeting with Dedra.

Episode 9
First prison scene moved up to provide a spacer between the Bix/Dedra scene at the end of the last episdoe and start of this episode.
The torture scenes have been removed. I’ve gone with the ANH tactic with the torture being implied rather than shown. It also helped with the pacing. We see the suggestion of the torture, the results of it and the information gained from it.
Mon Mothma/Vel scenes cut.
Syril’s mother is cut.
2 of the 3 Mon Mothma appartment gathering scenes from Ep8 are moved to here and intercut with the evening/night prison scenes. The middle one is cut. They are introduced after her scene in the Senate.
The Syril/Dedra scene is edited to make Syril appear less creepy. “Have you been waiting out here…… Yes”, “Being in your presence” and “I sense it, I know it” have been cut.
Removed the prison doctor “He’s had a massive stroke” - I dont like “earthy” language in my Star Wars!
Moved the last ISB briefing scene to the end to provide a spacer scene between the prison scene at the end of this episode and the start of the next.

Episode 10
Cut Ulaf’s body being taken through the factory floor.
Cut Mon Mothma “I’d feel far more comfotable paying you for your trouble” - sounds like something out of a west end musical!
Cut first 2 clips of Andor cutting the pipe - we have already seen him working on that pipe but it looks untouched.
Trim the sequence of the new prisoner being prepped for dropping onto the floor - speeds up the sequenece.
Trimmed the breakout sequence. The floor is activated a lot earlier, as it should have been.
Cut the shot of water dripping through the ceiling of another floor.
Cut Kino hesitating and not knowing what to say over the tannoy - I wanted him to appear strong until the point where he admits he can’t swim. A much better character arc.
Trimmed Lonni’s journey in the lift.
Cut references to Lonni’s child.

Episode 11
Cut Andor and Melshi on the cliff.
Cut Andor and Melshi’s capture and escape with the aliens - poorly executed scenes. Having their escape happen off screen works just as well.
Cut Vel and Kleya scene.
Cut Vel and Mon Mothma scene.
Cut Brasso - B2 scene.
Cut scene where Bix is asked about Anto Kreeger.
Cut Scene where Linus contacts Syril.
Keep scene of Syril emptying his safe but cut his mother leaving the apartment.
Cut Melchi from the Niamos scene - implies that Melchi and Andor already agreed to separate before this point.
Move the Fondor battle scene to the end to provide a better transition into the next episode.

Episode 12
Cut first scene of Wilmon making the bomb.
Edit Vel/Cinta scene to remove references to Vel coming back - she has been there the whole time.
Edit scene when Andor touches his father’s brick so that the flashback is of him being killed by the Clone Troopers - provides a more powerful resolution to the story.
Cut Luthen speeder sequence.
Cut all scenes involving Linus and Cyril. Cyril’s presence on Ferrix is unknown until the point where he rescues Deedra.
Trim the funeral band procession to speed up the pacing.
Cut the extended pause during Maarva’s hologram speech.
Cut Bix refusing to leave with Andor.

Hey Smudger, will you be loosing the discussion of how they were going to torture Bix- the story about the screams of another species being decimated. That was really dark and bold for a Star Wars show, so I thought it was important to display the tone of the aeries

Yes. That’s been cut. It is definitely a very dark scene and very different. Ultimately I decided it was an unnecessary scene and maybe it’s a bit too dark.

Excellent edit of an excellent show. It flows really well and the edits are largely seemless. The only feedback I could give beyond the praise is that I think I caught a flash frame around the 40 min 37 secs mark- an image of a console screen flashes for a second in between the shots of the security police on the transport and the ship flying over Aldani

Ahh yes. Well spotted. Looks like a rogue 1080 frame left in when I was converting to 4K. I’ll clip that out and re-upload.

Did you ever get a chance to re-upload a version with the rogue frame removed? Just wanted to get a final version for my permanent, backed up collection of your edits? Thanks

Yes. The 1080 and 4K mkv files have both been updated.

Well, I think this episode can help the film feel much more choral (I was thinking it could give it some Rogue One vibes) if, as some say, you alternate parts of Pershing’s plot between those of Din and Bo-Katan. I admit that I was watching the chapter and thinking about your edits.

Ahaha same here, I was watching and wondering how smudger will edit it 😄

I guess it all depends on how this plot plays out. It could all be very crucial or it could be mostly edited out. I think this season is going to be very difficult to edit until we’ve got all of the material.

Hi Smudger, I watched the trilogy this past week and it has been a blast. The amount of content of these TV series makes it hard to enjoy the whole story in a short time. Having the option now to “binge” in a matter of days instead of weeks really serves the audience who wants to revisit the overall story. Thank you for your contributions. You have done a masterful job, and I’m glad that you have fun doing this.

I have scanned over the original post and comments and didn’t see any mention of the “T” missing scene frames that occur often in Episode 3, so just wanted to mention just in case you somehow weren’t aware.

Thanks for the feedback. I hadn’t noticed the missed frames. Looks like I’ve accidentally deleted the letterbox effect file! 😬. I’ve replaced them and will re-render and upload it.

Shouldn’t we have at least them at Nevarro talking about what happened to Cara? I feel like that’s kinda important after spending so much time with her on the first two seasons.

It’s a massive impact on the running time to include that whole sequence just to explain where a secondary character is. Plus if the sequence isn’t included it doesn’t need explaining.

I almost forgot to leave a review of this.

While the other Andor edits vastly improve an already good show, I feel this one was as close to perfection as you can get.

The editor effectively and smoothly cut out everything I felt that really dragged the show down. More specifically, this comprised of cutting out nearly all the petty family squabbles. From the removal of Cyril’s mother, Senator Mothma’s bickering with her daughter and husband, and the removal of the [forgot name] imperial officer acting aggressively towards his son on Aldhani - these were all necessary to have the show move at a faster pace and also treat these characters with more respect. The family feuds diminished their characters and felt out of place for a Star Wars show as opposed to a soap opera.

My favorite part of this edit was the climactic ending. Closing with the meteor shower followed by the exhange between Lutyens and Mothma about whether he went too far was a really nice touch.

I am looking forward to episode 2 whenever it is released.

Thanks for the kind words. Episode 2 is nearing its second cut.

As always, I am speechless with your work and I love how you know how to see what is important in each episode to rescue the necessary information. That being said, I do agree with WitchDR that seeing Grogu and Din reunite for the first time with the purrgil scene doesn’t quite work for me either.

In that sense, I think that the way Grogu appears on the ship in the mandalorian’s ritual scene could work as a “revelation”, or you could still mix the purrgil scene with the final of TBOBF, which I think linked very well with Grogu’s decision in the third film. Maybe make some way that when the N1 goes into turbo mode at Grogu’s request it jumps into hyperspace and spins with the purrgil scene?

Otherwise I find it great! The first episode was almost a reminder of everything that came before with the strange addition of the IG-11 plot, it seems very appropriate to jump to the second almost directly.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the ritual scene makes for a better Grogu reveal, but ideally I’d like to cut the monster scene. Maybe a compromise would be a the reveal on Tatooine to Pelli. I’ll see how that works.

Mando EP4: Return to Mandalore 4K [RELEASED]
Time

Here is my edit of the Mandalorian Season 3.
After much debating I decided to leave the Grogu/Luke scenes in Episode 3, so this edit contains just the Mandalorian Season 3 material.

My goals are:
To recreate the classical Star Wars movie experience.
Full continuity with my previous three movies - some changes will now be made to those edits to line everything up.
To focus on the Mandalore plot with Din being the lead character.
To remove the large amount of filler in this series.
Improve the pacing of the finale.
Provide an emotionally satisfying ending.

Headlines:
2h 46min runtime
Classical Opening Logos, Opening Crawl and Iris-out to End Credits.
Dr Pershing, Plazir-15 and Foundling Rescue plots have all been removed.
Removal of many of the creature attacks.
The 2-part finale has been heavily edited and restructured to improve pacing, including removal of R5.
All audio transitions have been carefully edited including re-scoring and audio rebuilding as needed.

Detailed Changes:

Chapter 17

Custom credits using Disney Era flashing characters over Fox Fanfare followed by ALTAIAGFFA
Custom Crawl and right screen pan to N1 exiting hyperspace
Opening scene is Mando travelling to Bo Katan’s Castle which establishes his motivations.
Edited to trim his long walk to and away from Bo’s throne.
Hard Cut to the armourer at the forge. Initiation ceremony takes place but the creature attack is removed. Scene ends with “this is the way” with a re-used shot of the armourer used as the exit shot.
Cut to Din arriving on Navarro.
Removed transition wipe as Mando enters the town.
Trimmed Mando and Grogu walking through the town.
Remove transition wipe to Grogu spinning in the chair.
Cut Garga’s lines about the belters and money to be made on Navarro.
Trimmed the encounter with the pirates. Cut Vane “that explains why she wouldn’t let me inside”. Cut references to the pirate king. Cut Vane “now bring me a drink”. Cut Vane “you hear that boys, his school” and “you paid us for murder and mayhem inside these doors”.
Trim the standoff between Karga and Vane.
Cut scene where Mando tries to rebuild IG-11, instead he takes him straight to the Anzellans. Remove transition wipe.
Cut Mando “this one is my friend”. Cut Anzellan “Not friend anymore”.
Cut Karga “he says you should get a new one”.
Remove Encounter with pirate ships.
Edit cuts from Mando leaving Nevarro to Teva discovering the wrecked Republic shuttle from chapter 21.
Cut Teva “I knew it, he never made it to trial”.
Cut to Mando travelling through hyperspace with Purgill.

Chapter 18

Cut to Pelli on Tatooine.
Cut the Jawa/Pelli parts scam scene.
Cut Pelli “you know how Mos Eisley gets during Boonta week”.
Cut Mando leaving Tatooine. End scene with Pelli Offering R5 to Mando. Reuse head shot of Mando to extend scene and line up scene transition with music.
Cut to Imperial Shadow Council Scene from Chapter 23.
Cut the multiple “yes” responses.
Cut mention of an assassination attempt.
Cut “Yes I see”.
Cut to Mando exiting hyperspace above Mandalore.
Cut Mando “from the surface we won’t be able to communicate with anyone, so we have to be careful”.
Cut R5 stopping and Mando telling him to stop being a baby.
Cut whole scene of R5 dissapearing and Mando heading into the cave to rescue him. The edit has R5 heading into the rocks and then transmitting information that the atmosphere is breathable. Then a wipe transition to Mando and Grogu walking towards the cave.
Shortened Mando and Grogu’s journey to the mines.
Cut creature attacking Grogu as he leaves the cave to fetch help.
Small edit to remove continuity error of Grogu jumping from his hoverchair and into the cockpit. R5 bleeps used to replace sounds.
Remove Transition wipe to Bo’s Castle scene
Remove Gauntlet taking off from Bo’s Castle, replaced by hard cut to captured Mando having his blood extracted.
Cut to Gauntlet arriving on Mandalore.
Trim Gauntlet travelling through atmosphere
Cut Bo “It didn’t always look like this.”
Cut Bo asking Grogu to guide her.
Massively Trim Bo’s journey to Din including removal of R5 scream and the creature attack.
Cut back to repeated shot of Mando losing his blood and then to Bo arriving to rescue him.
Cut Bo “Din I cant hear you, are you trying to say something”.
Cut Bo “he’s quite the navigator”.
Trim Bo talking to Din about her father.

Chapter 19 (intercut with scenes from Chapter 21)

Cut to Nevarro Pirate invasion scene from Chapter 21.
Cut to Din and Bo at the edge of the waters.
WIpe transition from Gauntlet taking off from Mandalore surface to external shot of Adelphi Base.
Alelphi base scene from Chapter 21.
Cut to shot of Gauntlet returning to Kalevala.
Cut R5’s screeching and Bo “Don’t worry I grew up flying these cliffs” and “of course its been a while”.
Cut Din and Bo talking about ship damage at the end of the initial dogfight.
Cut to Chapter 21 scene of Karga and the citizens at their makeshift camp. The scene starts with Karga looking at the town through binoculars - the “walking" is cut because it makes it obvious that there aren’t enough extras in the scene and the group also make a strange turn due to the limitations of the volume set.
Wipe transition to Teva exiting hyperspace above Coruscant from Chapter 21.
Wipe transition to Mando and Bo exiting hyperspace en route to Mando’s old covert.
Cut Din “its a secret location and you are my guest”
Trim posturing and walking as Bo and Din land and walk into the Clan’s cave.
After Armourer welcomes Bo to the Clan I added armourer dialogue from Chapter 1 to add “a pauldron would be in order”, “I shall craft it”.
The whole Coruscant plot line has been removed.

Chapter 20

Wipe transition to wide shot of the Covert Planet
Cut to Armourer making Bo a new Pauldron.
Everything else form this Chapter has been cut - the training sequence, the creature stealing the foundling and the Grogu-Armourer scene including Grogu’s flashback. These scenes have no relevance to the main plot of the season and provide no payoff at the end. The only continuity issue was Bo losing her Pauldron in the rescue, but this has been explained by the Armourer offering her a new pauldron after welcoming her to the clan.

Chapter 21

The first half of this episode has been used to intercut with Chapter 19 scenes.
Cut to Teva arriving at the Clan’s location.
Cut Din “this man cut me a break once and now I’m returning the favour” - at the moment this line doesn’t fit with my preceding edits…. This may well change when I got back to episodes 2 and 3.
Cut Lines from Paz about Din saving his son (this has been cut).
Cut the entire pointer sequence where Bo explains (in length!) the plan to defeat the pirates.
Cut to the Pirates on Nevarro and the battle then play out.
Cut Pirate king “Its the Mandalorian” - he would not know because their earlier encounter has been cut.
Battle scene trimmed and unnecessary “Marvel” dialogue has been removed.
Cut droid correcting Karga about his title.
Trim Bo and Armourer talking about the forge.

Chapter 22

The Gideon/Kane scene from Chapter 21 has been placed here to provide a spacer scene. I have cut Gideon “and make it quick because I’m short on time”. The scene ends as he walks past the clones because the shadow council scene has been moved to the start of the movie.
Opening scene of Axe’s Mandalorians and the Quarren as been cut.
We cut to Din and Bo arriving on Plazir-15. Losing control of the ship has been cut, so they now land on the planet of their own free will.
Cut Din “I knew they looked familiar"
Wipe transition from the Gauntlet landing to Bo and Din walking to the Mandalorian camp.
Trimmed some of the standing and staring.
Cut Bo “certainly as much as any of us”.
Cut Bo “no matter how well intended”.
Cut Din repeating “would it not belong to her”.
All other scenes have been cut including the entirety of the Droid plt.

Chapter 23

Cut Karga explaining to his droid about the cruiser being Mandalorian.
Cut Karga calling the droid IG-12.
Cut Karga asking Mando if he likes the droid.
Cut discussion about whether the droid is safe - the scene this references has been cut.
Cut Karga “I think he’s saying he’s old enough to operate it”.
Cut IG/Grogu messing around at the food stall.
Cut Bo talking about the poisoned surface of Mandalore and dormant creatures - most of these encounters have been cut.
Cut Din “Grogu as well”.
Cut 3 “I will go”.
Cut Bo “We will lose Comms shortly”.
Trim walking across Mandalore sequence.
Cut Bo “you were right, I was selfish and this is what it brought”.
Cut board game sequence.
Cut giant creature attacking the land ship. We cut from the Gauntlet returning to the cruiser to the Mandalorians entering the caves to the forge.
Cut Bo “no its too far”.
Cut Axe “I can make it, its our only chance of taking the planet back”. Now Axe’s move is more decisive.
Trim down battle sequence.
Cut Din telling Grogu to keep up.
Cut Bo “I’ll make sure of it”.
Cut Gideon “now surrender the darksaber and tell these people this planet is mine”.
Trim Paz v Mando Trooper fight to make the troopers look less like battle droids!

Chapter 24

Move the TIE squadron leaving the base to the opening scene so that it immediately precedes Bo telling Axe about the TIEs. This creates more tension a jeopardy for Axe’s subplot.
Cut Axe “I’m entering the upper atmosphere but I have my orders.
Remove wipe transition between Bo’s forces and Din.
Edit Din’s escape so that the Mando trooper no longer blasts him twice (Din gets hit by balsters far too many times over the seasons!)
Cut Din “thankyou for your help”
Cut scene of Gideon tracking Mando - it makes no sense.
Cut R5 completely - his presence really slows the pacing - this involved cropping scenes, cutting scenes, re-scoring and audio editing.
Move Axe arriving at the cruiser forward. Cut Axe “Bo Katan needs our help”
Move Bo Katan and her group arriving at the cave escape point backwards slightly. I’ve made a significant change at this point. As she tells Din that she’s under attack and getting the troops to safety the Armourer contacts her to tell her that her reinforcements have arrived. Added Bo “lets take back out planet” from a later scene (which I’ve cut). We then cut from the Mandos blasting out of the cave to them joining with the Mandalorians above from a later scene. I’ve used a few flipped and reversed shots to accommodate the additional dialogue. This allowed me to completely cut the “garden scene” which slowed down the plot and removed any sense of danger. Having the “lets take back out planet” at this point has more emotional weight.
Cut from Bo leading the Mandalorians into the Base back to Mando searching for Gideon. Here I’ve combined the two separate scenes into one, having moved the Fleet scene forwards. This took a lot of audio rebuilding and score manipulation with original score tracks and revurb to remove R5 and combine the scenes into a smooth single scene. It now plays out with much more urgency and threat. End the scene before Mando goes into the Clone room and cut to Bo and her forces. If the full scene of Din plays out it feels too long in this edited form.
After the Bo Forces scene cut to Mando in the Clone room.
Cut to Bo’s forces and then back to Mando facing off Gideon.
Gut Gideon “smother them before they could take their first breath” Giancarlo’s acting was a bit off here so I cut away from him and his sentence is cut off as Din appears and fires at him.
Cut straight from Moff Taking Din down to Grogu v Praetorian Guards as I’ve used the original spacer scene of Bo’s forces earlier in the edit.
Cut to Axe plunging towards Mandalore in the Cruiser - this scene has been moved forwards to create jeopardy and because there was too large a gap between Axe’s scenes in the original series.
Axe’s line about crashing into the base is transitioned to shot a shot of Bo.
Added Bo saying “Din” as we cut to a distant shot of Din v Gideon. The Gideon duel then plays out.
Trim Gideon firing at Din so that Bo intervenes much faster.
Added new exit soundtrack to classical iris out and Star Wars music.

After watching todays episode it occurred to me that it might be better moving all the Mando/Grogu storyline specific content from TBOBF out of your edit and combining them with the first two episodes of this new season to make a third chapter in your Mandalorian story. That way the Boba Fett story could be its own thing (with a brief supporting appearance from Djarin) and the forthcoming six new Mandalorian episodes could form a chapter four. Just a thought.

This is a consideration and I’ll see how the new season plays out. At the moment the plan is to move the Luke-Grogu scenes out of this edit and into episode 4 (I’ve just started a new thread). However, if there is an obvious time skip during season 3 and enough material for 1.5 movies I will certainly play around removing the Boba material.

I finally got around to checking out all 3 of your Mando movies, and I must say Smudger, these are fantastic! I really love what you accomplished with the BOBF content. Completely seamless with the Mando content.

After hearing Favreau’s comment about Grogu being with Luke for 2 years (I haven’t seen Favreau walk this back as a slip-up) I’m wondering if there may be a way to imply this better. Since you were able to seamlessly remove Grogu from the Tatoonie scenes and leave him only for the ending of your 3rd movie, I’m wondering if it may be better suited for the opening of the 4th movie. This way you could imply a 2 year timejump (or even any amount of timejump) in the crawl.

This would also help with how we see such drastic changes with characters and locations. Such as the Armorer being on that new planet instead of the “ring city” we saw her on in BOBF, also the massive change in Navaro.

Though this would require you to chop up your Luke and Grogu scenes. The first training scenes imply that Grogu hasn’t been training with Luke for very long. So leave the ones where he’s learning to jump and what not as the end of the 3rd movie. Then open the 4th movie with Din arriving on Luke’s planet, have it play out the same, but instead jump to the scene of Grogu jumping along the rocks. It shows that he’s had a level of progression since the end of your 3rd movie with his small jumps.

Grogu and Din being back together so soon has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and even though explaining it in a crawl that time has passed is only a band-aid on this issue, it’s still at least a little better than what we have been given.

I’m not the best at explaining everything in text form, but hopefully some of that came across coherently lol. I haven’t even attempted to edit this idea into realty, so it may not be feasible. But I’m gonna try playing around with your 3rd movie edit and see if the idea even works.

Thanks WDR! It was always my intention to move the Luke/Grogu scenes to the start of the next Movie. Favreau’s comments have reinforced that position!

Hi, I find your project really interesting, it’s super cool. I just had a question do you think it’s possible to edit all of season one into a three hour movie?

Not quite, which is frustrating because a single 3-hour movie would have been amazing.

I tried a rough cut but ultimately there is just too much material to squeeze into 3 hours. The best I could manage was 3h20 and that involved some brutal cutting which definitely resulted in some of the important story beats being lost.

It’s a shame because there is a 3-act movie in there…… escape from ferrix, Aldhani heist and return to Ferrix. The whole prison storyline is lost, but I was quite happy to lose that.
