Bond, James Bond
Time
the new U.E. releases are available in single film releases in pal land, but not the u.s. in ntsc.

Germany, australia, and the u.k. I can confirm have them seperately.

I have seen some people breaking up the sets and selling them on ebay that way in the u.s.

apparently some people are selling the one's they don't like.

Info: 2006 GOUT DVD using 'Faces' PCM Sound?
Time
How could someone use the ntsc gout of star wars resize to anamorphic and add the mono mix?

Belbucus are you restoring the missing segments of the mono soundtrack, like the 20th century fox theme and the first few bars of star wars main theme as well as the damaged parts?

is there a way to get those from a stereo source say the star wars soundtrack anthology box set and convert them to mono?

Or would it be better to get it from the 35mm mix?

could you tell me how you are cleaning up and restoring the mono mix?

You said in a previous post on this forum you had two sources, what is the equipment being used and is the cleanup a digital process?

Does anyone know why Lucasfilm never released the mono soundtrack. It must be in the Lucasfilm archives. to me when listening to it it sound more finished and polished that either the 35mm or 70mm mixes, and has several subtle nuances that are severely lacking is those other mixes.

would it be possible to create a new sound mix using the best of all three mixes and why has lucas not done so. He has the master tapes for the mono mix sessions apparently so why not just re-record those elements not in the others into stereo?

A New Hope HDTV screenshots
Time
some may not support the new technology of HD. I say it's about damn time we can get our movies in an uncompressed audio and video package like blu ray, or HD DVD.

If the star wars trilogy was already available on blu ray in 1080p I would definetely buy a player.

It is also about time we get the entire star wars saga in HD.

As for the 2004 HD transfer done by lowry it's about time it's being offered in it's original picture quality as it was downscaled to fit a dual layer dvd and compressed to death.

I wish I had cinemax HD this is sure going to be sweet for those who are subscribers.

Idea: Preserving STAR TREK - a preservation project?
Time
I know of a guy who sells them on a site, but he probalbly would not share them for free for preservation.

It's probalbly against site rules to link to the site.

What I can tell you is it's only the shatner ones, he does not have the repeats with the nimoy comments.

He created his own menus and called his set :Star Trek Insights I think it is five dvds single layer.

He is also charging $25.00 for the set.

If you want the name of the site to search for it on send me a private message, then I will go ahead and delete this post.

response to another post quote" Including the original cut of the first movie? Is a new release being planned?"

probalbly it will never be released ever again considering the late director robert wise considered that cut unfinished. I also highly doubt you will ever see the theatrical editions for star trek II ever offered on HD either or dvd again. Also the theatrical cut of star trek VI was never released on home video.

The scenes from both the television cut and the theatrical cut of star trek the motion picture are on the second disc but not included in the main feature of the dvd. they are in widescreen but I am not sure if they are anamorphic also the quality is not the same as the remaster on disc one of the official dvd. someone on these boards awhile back said they had shown the theatrical cut on HD.net, but no one said they had captured it.

It is possible that if fans demanded it that all versions and cuts of the original star trek films could be made available considering they are doing a ultimate box set for HD- DVD which according to reports will have the largest amount of bonus material ever offered, even more than the series of two disc sets released on dvd.

Also some fans on these boards have suggested someone recomping the scenes from disc two back into the main feature on star trek the motion picture and removing and replacing the redone shots. a classic edition if you will.

Evangelion anime Project (Released)
Time
i wonder if it has anything to do with the three new theatrical animated EVA films currently in production from anno and gainax, which according to the japan site have a new vision of the story of the series and feature films as well as a prequel into three movies from 2007-2008 with new 3-D CGI visuals and state of the art techniques.

Is he turning into another George Lucas?

I mean as much as I love Neon Genesis Evangelion it seems to me they are squeezing every last dime they can out of this franchise, it's like beating as dead horse when it's already a dry as bones skeleton.

I am looking forward to reading the rest of the manga volumes though, and picking up and reading angelic days alternate universe storyline.

according to the wensite play.com the release date for the 10th anniversary collection has been moved up to 05/02/2007, I am still waiting on confirmation from adv about it's cancellation. The guy who e-mailed me back from the company would not give me a straight answer, what a joke.

//RETURNING TO JEDI\\: NTSC & PAL DVD
Time
I've never been so excited about a fan project release.

Keep up the good work Jambe!

with the new making of star wars book a new hope coming out next year, have you thought about doing a new hope? (or just plain old star wars).

I know ocp did deleted magic, but you could make it more like building empire.

Dave Dorman is a fantastic artist and I cannot believe they did'nt use him to create the covers for the trilogy release box art or cover art for both indy and star wars.

I personally would like to see a project that uses menus with ralph mcquarrie artwork as well as the covers of all three movies.

Info & Help Wanted: [<( The Star Wars Trailers Project )>]
Time
I'm very interested in seeing some of the non english trailers like the german ones.

one of the empire strikes back trailers not included on the 2004 bonus disc uses temp track music, but I have yet to find a good one online.

the best trailers I've found so far are on t'bone's site and are divx encoded.

Cannot wait to see your project of the trailers.

I have heard of there being some xvids out there of trailers but have never seen them.

Info: James Bond - Laserdisc Preservations: 1962-1971
Time
cannot even begin to say how excited i am about this project as the criterion bond trilogy or banned bond set was a smashing success.

They claim in one of the commentaries I think on the bond movies that thunderball was shot in cinemascope, I was under the impression that was a 2:35:1 anamorphic process?

also the ultimate edition is 2:35:1 and they claim they are releasing all of the bond films in the correct aspect ratios for the first time. I believe all of the U.E. before thunderball are 1.66:1 though I have seen differing aspect ratios on different dvd releases on dr. no and from russia with love I have seen 1:77:1 , 1:78:1 or 2:35:1 .

I am relying on info from amazon u.k. and amazon.com as well as IMDB and so some of this could be incorrect.

I own only one of the U.E. releases and it is from russia with love and in pal. The picture sometimes is overly bright and a little too blue for my liking though not as bad as the job they did on star wars. I still think the closest in quality to the original cinema release is the criterion laser disc CAV release. i think they even added digital film grain after the clean up process on the U.E.

the cover art on the Ultimate editions are ugly and the menus are not as good as the special editions, but the supplements on most of them more than make up for that.

and the new bond film Casino royale i've seen a trailer or two of it and it looks o.k. but I simply cannot get past that the actor does not look like bond or even have the right cadence. It really should be called "an action film by any other name" not James Bond. I would have approved of the choice of the director if he did'nt produce a turkey with legend of zorro. His only good films are goldeneye and mask of zorro. I guess the producers thought they could bring in the director of goldeneye and dupe us into thinking it may be a good film. That would've only worked if it was a sequel to die another day and starred pierce brosnan and teamed up with martin campbell.

Evangelion anime Project (Released)
Time
I am sure everyone on these boards who are EVA fans are eagerly awaiting this and wish you well in your endeavor.

There really is no rush to get this project done as the end product quality is more important.

also you are not beholden to anyone we are really in your debt for doing this as well as your other little projects.

Even if this project never sees fruition I would like to personally thank you for your efforts.

Street Fighter II - The Animated Movie Super Special Champion Edition Turbo (Released)
Time
I also enjoyed the menu with the street fighter II game screen, and the sampled game audio.

The only thing I was wondering is there any work being done on a superb cover for this release.

Will the bonus disc have images of japan released artwork, and u.s. artwork etc?

The box art for street fighter II turbo champion edition for the snes system was great!

the only complaint I have is not directed at you but the director's/producers of the film, is that Cammy should've been in the film more and the film should have been longer.

the actress who played her on the live action film was hot, but the movie sucked. Too bad that was raul julia's last film.

Too bad a fan edit of the movie cannot be made that does treat the material less rediculously.
