STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

That's always going to be the challenge with replacing existing shots like the original. It was an actual shot, photographed on a stage with everything in camera(exception being the animated lasers).

That's why there needs to be more softer focus on the mtns in the background: to match existing photographed footage.

Otherwise these new shots will make more sense continuity wise but will stand out too much as synthetic.

That was one of the problems with the Star Wars Special Editions to begin with.

edit

Is there any way to more effectively tie in the fx shots with the location footage? Notice even in the original film we dont see much battlefield debris around the walkers because the stop motion animators needed the space to animate.

Maybe ady could tie those fx shots into the location footage by adding in trenches or something?

OH! What if an ewok spy can be matted into the foreground of the scene where the rebels first exit the shuttle tyderium. If the rebels are seen exiting an imperial ship, the ewoks would see them as enemies, the same as the imperials. R2 and 3PO would have to be matted out of that shot until the ewok spies left, of course.

Cool. Just like a shadowy figure in the bushes that watches them and makes those Wicket growling noises as he watches them. Could add some early suspense for the audience too. The ewoks would certainly know the Imperial equipment by then too. Shuttles, Walkers, AT-STs would all be regarded as containing the enemy.

Yeah i wondered that too. He's a god to them and they still want to roast the heroes. Huh?

Maybe have Logray gesturing and put in subtitles where he says "no, these beings are the ones forcing us from our homes and destroying our forests" or something?

Then 3PO says he'll levitate then "he" does.

did the abridged audiobook for Heir to the Empire, so it might be possible to crib some lines from there.

Oh yeah! I had that once and forgot all about it. Good thinking.

eah, that would be ideal. But can it be pulled off? And what do you do with the night conversation?

You know one thing that bugs me about Leia being told that Vader is Luke's father is that there's no subsequent reaction that Vader is HER father too.

Lucas really did crunch a trilogy into one movie.

EDIT:

So about making the ewoks more fierce:

What are they mad about? Why ally themselves with the rebels?

What if there's a little bit of dialogue by Logray when he stands up and talks. You could add subtitles where it suggests the imperials have been clearing the forests and subsequently destroying Ewok villages.

To tie into the 3PO is a god idea, it would be 3PO who would be regarded as their saviour in this troubled time.

Luke and Leia being siblings doesnt kill things. But it does shrink the galaxy a little. The main reason to do it is closure. It's the last movie. Tie up all the loose ends, including another Skywalker.

Why leave it open if there no other SW films to tinker with?

Maybe have the coda where luke is off searching for the other and leave it open?

Like Conan. :D

I've done 3 different ones over the years:

A)My own "radical" reimagining,

B) a redux Lucas vision

C) a tweaked TPM shooting script.

The redux of Lucas' vision was like the opening of ANH with the Queen speeding away from her homeworld and going to Tatooine after her ship is damaged. Obi-Wan meets Anakin. Qui-Gon appears at Coruscant. End battle start of Clone Wars.

Basically taking ideas Lucas had in his revised rough draft and deleted scenes and put them in.

And I took all the Naboo/Amidala assassination plot from Ep. 2 and put it into Eppy 1, with revisions.

That cleared the way for Alderaan in Ep. 2, more Clone Wars, etc.

It basically upped the timeline to have the Clone Wars over by the end of Ep. 2.

That cleared the way for Ep. 3 to be all about The Emp, Anakin, Kenobi, and Amidala.

I like the idea someone mentioned of the rebel hq ship to be smoked up like they're pretty banged up too.

Remember in the ROTJ novel when they mention how Jerrjerrod was orbiting the DS2 around so they could take out Endor?

Why not add something like that to up the time crunch and make Landos sacrifice doable?

He would sacrifice himself to save his buddy Han.

As for ep. 2, I remember looking at Kamino and going: those energy tubes and the power looks like the generator tubes on Naboo during the final duel. That's what gave me the idea to link them.

I also took Jango, changed his name to Prima, and moved him into ep. 1 but only as one of a squad of mandalorian commandos that help the sith and federation.

Prima was then the lone survivor after the jedi and republic take them out at the end of ep. 1(which in my writing was the first major battle in the Clone Wars).
