Shooting someone holding a grenade is a sure fire way of getting yourself and everyone else in the room blown up.
Not with the right shot. ;)
AT-TE=shit :) , but that belongs far from this topic
lol!
I agree about that. In fact, it made him seem weak when he drew his blaster at Boussh when she pulled out that detonator.
The ESB Fett would've iced her on the spot.
Well sluggo, I think some of the Fett sub-plot stems from the fact that alot of people were unhappy that Fett went out like he did.
That's cool. Anything more to make those original shots connect more and not look like isolated fx shots is a great improvement.
Here's what I own of SW on DVD:
The 04 Set.
A set from here of the Laserdisc collector's edition(which I own too)
That's it.
I also have the original separate releases of each prequel.
And I wont be buying anything more until Lucas stops this love/hate thing he has with his audience and releases a mega box set of original theatrical versions, NO FIXES, and whatever else he wants to put on it.
I used to have a list of stuff I'd want for a mega box set but it's obvious Lucasfilm has lost touch so why bother?
b) and why would you spoil the "it's a trap" plotline so soon?!
We already know it's a trap before the rebels get their anyway though. Palps tells Luke about the legion of troops before the rebel fleet arrives.
I actually would prefer that nothing is stated before the audience sees it happen, but anyway this is to help this Fett doesn't die idea along.
I'd rather have the boba/plans plot remain anominous so the audience could figure it out for themselves rather than sponfed like lucas's prequels.
I agree with this. You could still have the Fett/Vader conversation, but make it sound like Fett gave the plans to the Bothans, a third party.
Thats' really sinister to have him basically covering his tracks like that.
Maybe have Vader ask him: "Have the plans been delivered to the Bothans?"
Then when Mothma is talking about it the audeince would go "Oh no, a setup!"
Could be the tension we'd need.
yeh that is a strange shot indeed. it does seem as if the rebels are supposed to be running towards the battle instead of away.
In my The ESB Sketchbook, there are storyboards by Ivor Beddoes of rebels and Imerial snowtroopers engaging in hand to hand combat. I wonder if they filmed it?
Imperial Fighter
the main issue I have with that original falling walker shot is there's no life around it. There's no battlements or anything in that shot to blend in with the live action footage that preceded and followed.
Yes I did see the red shuttle. I like the idea of something distinct for Palps.
I'll give it a go tomorrow.
Davnes007, don't worry about perfection when it comes to storyboards. What matters with them is the sense of story and overall pacing.
Great job.
edit:
I know imperial paintjobs have been discussed before, but what about giving Palp's shuttle a dark maroon color?
And I've always wondered why the heroes dont fly a parts shuttle instead of the same old type we always see. Would be better if it was distinct some way.
Those mockups you did are great. And you even have him speeding away from Hutt's palace. That was the night shot I was referring too. Darken the sky so it's at night and add twinkling lights in the upper portion.
adywan reused shots at times in SWR. If done right, they can ellicit entirely new emotions from people than the original.
It's also a great basis to start a new shot using an original SW element.
where is that?
Or better yet, use the existing matte, darken it and add lights.
Pull out that Ralp McQuarrie Star Wars Universe book. In the Tatooine section is a really cool night shot of the palace. Simplify the concept(take out the people) and you have your basis for a matte.
That's certainly more practical. Good idea.
The only thing I wonder about though is if he met up with the rebels in person, wouldnt Chewie and leia want to take him out?
That's why the transmission seems more reasonable. Just have Vader tell him to send a transmission with the data. Makes Fett more slippery and cunning, IMHO.
Very cool. But I wouldn't let the audience know from Vader that they'll be "waiting for them". Just enough to know Vader and Fett are involved.
Maybe fett could send the info rather than meeting up with the rebels? Might be more doable that way.
Still, freakin awesome!
edit:
good point about Boba Bingowings. Why would he stick around Jabba's anyway? Have him do his thing and take off.
Brilliant
That was kidding based on your earlier suggestion that maybe Qui-Gon could replace Dooku.
Savage said:adywan said:ignore the first shot because that's just the colour corrected version and i haven't begun work on this yet
I'm assuming you're going to be adding a snowspeeder encircling the far left AT-AT to jive with the collapse, and as such, the sequence will look pretty damned good. I think the new shot works well, but I do find myself looking more at the falling AT-AT than Luke. Good work as always, though!
The speeder wouldn't still be circling it. The films show they speed off after they detach the cable. Then the walker falls.
You mean Qui-Gon taking his own path. :p
yeah it works very nice in motion. much better. I like it!
Hey Mikey, he likes it!
Scenes from say CALIGULA (the feasting scenes, not the sex stuff) or other said Roman movies (like maybe GLADIATOR?) could be inserted for the sake of showing Senators or rich people in general enjoying themselves (as well as come across as gluttoness and weak). Or, if it's possible, say during a scene when Sideous is walking down a corridor talking to Maul or someone else, you take said scene and put it in a room they pass or in a room/window in the background, with the implication that Palpatine/Sideous sees the avarice and gluttoness behavior of what the Senators do behind closed doors and it is what is propelling him to create the Empire to begin with (along with the threat of a neighboring Empire taking them over).
That might be very difficult to take footage from different films and get them to match. Than again, Trooperman did it somewhat with Dune and AOTC.
Oh I'm in agreement with you about in camera fx. They certainly can be flawed. And I'm not suggesting that they're perfect merely because they are photographed, but that any new shots adhere as closely as possible to the photographed footage, live-action and original fx shots.
That's why that new shot of adys appears to need a little softer focus in the background or a sharper one in the mid. Otherwise, the different focal lengths might stand out way too much. But I'll actually wait though until the footage is out.
And Monroville's suggestion about, to paraphrase him here, "clogging up shots with too many things", certainly warrants some attention.
Lars, I think that's a rock outcropping, not a speeder.
