Besides Vader throwing his master down a death pit doesn't really redeem him, you would need another trilogy for that to happen.

You've got to be kidding.

I've gotta go with bingo on this one.

I think there are numerous possibilities for a ST.

Imagine the power vacuum after the emperor died. The galaxy would be plunged into chaos. Look what happened when the soviets fell apart: little fiefdoms were established, small wars broke out, old coalitions resumed. It was fractured.

However, I have to say the main problem with an sequel trilogy wouldn't be "Anakin was redeemed". No he was not." It would be:

Who would be a villain?

But anyway...back to ROTJ

Wasn't that scene shot after principle photography simply because it was an FX shot?

Well I'm not sure, I had read in a dossier in the French official magazine that they almost forgot to shoot this scene, and that they shot it several months after, next to the Ranch. And so I noticed that the "glove" might have been added by ILM after (I know, it's not a big deal but anyway :P).

The funeral pyre scene was shot in Marin after principal had ended.

What would he do?

No idea mate.

What would I do?

I'd prefer to see a montage showing the fall of the Empire rather than just a few celebrations on key worlds.

The Empire is meant to be a powerful regime covering most of a galaxy so to end the film with everyone celebrating seems a bit premature.

We saw a montage covering the murder of the Jedi in ROTS, maybe something in that vein would at least give us a bit of a feeling that the Empire didn't just fold over night.

But that's my take not Ady's.

I'm with you too! :p

Take some shots of an older Fisher, Hammill, and Ford from other films and just have a little line explaining what happened. It would be similar to Lucas' coda to American Graffitti.

Anyone remember the coda to Conan the Barbarian?

I actually prefered the CGI battles in NuGalactica to the ones in the PT, I know it's chalk and cheese but the battles in that television show looked more dangerous and were more uncomfortable because I had a degree of emotional investment in the characters (something I never had in the PT).

If you watch the Death Star run in ANH in a cinema, even now people in the audience are leaning forward and rooting for Luke because they care about the character.

With ROTS there was none of that in any of the cinemas I saw it in the effects looked good but without characters to care about and who might die, fail or get badly injured where's the emotional impact coming from?

That was the main mistake regarding the PT.

The characters we know will survive should have been backed up with characters who's fates weren't set in stone that we actually could give a damn about.

So if they survived or died we felt something.

One of the faults with ROTJ is that other than Wedge and Lando there isn't anyone in the space battle to care about. Wedge could have been built up more in the film as could one or two other pilots (the guys in ANH are all recognisable but the pilots in ROTJ are mostly anonymous).

The pre-briefing and hanger scenes would have been a good way of getting to know in broad strokes a few of the people who would latter fight and possibly die.

That's why I'd also like to do something more with Piett's death because he is the nearest we have to that sort of thing on the other side (Jerjerrod is such a ninny that it's impossible to care about him either way).

It's not just the emotional involvement the NuGalactica battles had, which is paramount, but the actual look and behaviour of the virtual camera. That stuff looks like it was actually shot or photographed. There were little cues in the shots that really sold me.

I say get rid of the tree traps and replace them with pits and the like.  Trees can still be a factor - Scout Walker steps into a pit; as Scout Walker's leg sinks down halfway, ground starts to cave ala a sinkhole; as the rest sinks in, the trees on either side topple over on top of the SW, crushing and blowing it up.

I still say give the Ewoks something explosive to account for getting through the Stormtrooper armor - be it explosive arrow heads and bolas. Maybe even having a scene where one Ewok raises his hand and we see retractable claws pop out and THEN he jumps on top of the Stormtrooper, followed by other Ewoks.  Blood wouldn't have to be shown, though some nice tearing and squishing sounds could be used ala AMERICAN WEREWOLF or something to get the idea across.  Remember that Koalas are pretty damn cute too, but have sharp claws for climbing trees and can get pretty pissed off.

The idea is that these are primitive creatures fighting advanced tech. Sticks and stones versus hi-tech. That was the whole point Lucas went with them instead of the original Wookies.

I'm not off work yet!  Darn you people on the other side of the world!

Well what makes you think they're off work? They're probably running countries all liquored up and posting mock ups.

That would explain North Korea.

I'm so full of coffee beans that I sound like a one man Lucas comedy sound reel, nobody switch on a light, it will start a chain reaction which should destroy the internet.

Hand picked by Juan Valdez? :p

Interesting... Any ideas on how to make that happen?

Redubbing the dialogue and altering the statues in the Gungan sacred place would do the trick :

The miniature and digimatte work in TPM was the best of the PT. There was some other great stuff in the other films but TPM was most consistent.

That first picture looks a bit bad, though, Anakin doesn't look convincing at all. Easily fixable, though, I'm sure.

That maybe because it's actually Jake Lloyd. That's not an effect.

IMHO, having the Luke talk to Obi-Wan in his hovel scene might be more work than the payoff we're seeking by adding it.

We also have to consider the whole flow of the start of the movie when were doing this.

The last thing I want to do is try and reinvent the wheel on a fine movie and then have the other wheels come off. In other words, create more problems than I solve.

No I love the jabba window. Don't lose the jabba window! :D

Yeah that Hoth control room shot is clearly a guy peering through the screen to see what is happening on the other side. No window.

What is he looking at? Who knows. Maybe Kersh threw one of his crew in a rebel uniform and he's watching a lamp? :p

By comparison, let's look at a better example. How about, oh, let's say... The Empire Strikes Back. Exactly how much romantic dialogue is there between Han and Leia? Hans seduction of Leia, and her resistance, are so much more succinct than Episode II, and that much more bearable. After Lucas' notoriously over-restrained emotions in Episode I, he went and gushed it up in the next one. Balance, George, balance!

So I say cut it. Even montage it to an abbreviated Across the Stars. Something.

I really like that idea. No dialogue. Just visuals and music.
