Has anyone noticed that they seem to have changed Nien Numb's voice slightly in the death star footage? Or is it just my sound system crapping out?

Honestly, to hell with this garbage. Unless you're an idiot apologist, I can't fathom why any SW fan would want to buy these discs. Stick with bootlegs and torrents of the original movies and forget about wanting the crispest, cleanest picture imaginable. You enjoyed it on VHS on a small tv for years and years, after all.

Playing devil's advocate, there is some merit to this set. Some people here want to buy it in order to have a clear conscious when downloading other members HD projects.

There's also people who have grown up with the SE's and don't know any different or those that enjoy the prequels. There's no accounting for bad taste.

Me personally I wouldn't touch this set with KenKraly6000's hands.

Also it's nice to see hairy_hen come in here and tell us what's what. I hope you get to hear the new mix and are able to comment on it.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

I downloaded it just a couple days ago. I haven't even had time to watch the whole thing yet. So, a new SW is coming, but TESB and ROTJ are locked down, correct?

So I guess it's safe to say the SW download is working for some.

Any way I left the part 1 rar to upload over night and was greeted in the morning with a mozilla crash report. I don't know at what point in the night it crashed the browser. I'll give it another try but I'm not hopeful. My upload speeds are terrible.

Anyway don't worry about this nonsense Harmy - enjoy your holiday.

TESB and ROTJ are locked down for the foreseeable future. Harmy said he may give them another go if the Blu-rays transfers are markedly improved but even if they are he has said he won't be purchasing them for a while due to lack of funds.

We're talking about the links on tehparadox the first rar file for SW DeEd is dead but you obviously got it before it went dead - out of curiosity how long ago did you DL it?

But in the near future there will be a newer version of SW but that hasn't been completed or uploaded yet so stick around for that release as Harmy has made some improvements.

The Best on Blu-ray: Restoring the Star Wars Saga for the HD Generation

More Lucas revisionist history.

"Some of the issues come from these movies being finished for film and projected for film, and that's how people saw them. A lot of things that look a little different on HD or DVD are really the nature of how video treats color space," explains Huebler. A dramatic example of this came up in the 2004 DVD release, with the dimming of the lightsaber cores throughout the trilogy, even to the point where Luke's lightsaber aboard the Millennium Falcon shifted from blue to green in Episode IV.

*eyeroll*

I weep for Lucasfilm when the don't even know the reason the lightsaber colars are green when the should be blue or pink when the should be red.

*massive eyeroll*

*ouch*

... and now with confirmation of added dialogue and other changes, Matthew Wood comes across as a complete douche bag who's trying to put as much of his imprint on SW as possible.

To be fair it was reported that he did try to keep the new mix 'as original as possible' it was George who would undo all his work when he wanted to make a change. But as Ancorhead pointed out there appears to be an arrogance about him.

Now I'm no expert or professional and apparently this man is but why recreate a footstep or what not that couldn't be found in the archive? Is it feasible to isolate the lost sound effect from the digitalised original mix and use that as the source?

I don't have the original rar files anymore, so I can't upload just that one part anyway. I'd be really happy if someone could reupload v1.0 somewhere (ideally RS or MU) for me and send me the links...

I have the original rar but like I said I think 2GB is too much to upload to the likes of RS and MU unless you're a premium member or whatever.

To those 3/4 through the download maybe the torrent is the best way to go unless the files aren't the same. Can anyone confirm this with access to myspleen?

Part 2 from:

Some choice quotes:

Matthew also confirmed he found some things while going through the old master like comments in the production lines that he added as dialogue into A New Hope. He stopped short of telling us what those and other new audio and video changes made by Lucas were, so we'll have to all discover them the old fashioned way.

As a poke back at Lucas, Matthew said there were times he'd spent a ton of effort making something like it originally did during the theatrical presentation. Then George would come in and want to change it, and all the work would be for naught.

As with every previous iteration of Star Wars, there's going to be some backlash over the audio changes George has chosen to make – the full extent of which we don't know yet. Matthew loves and prefers the new Blu-ray mixes to the originals, citing the R2 canyon scene as an example. He's hoping we'll feel the same way.

An article from the DVD & Blu-Ray Review magazine, Issue september 2011, confirms that Matthew Wood has put his voice in the audio tracks of all 6 movies:

The magazine scan is from projektstarwars.de, posted by Spaceball:

Interesting to read if you ask me...

Thanks for going to all the trouble of posting the video clips/links.

Here's the quote referred to above:

You also star in the movies, of course

... General Grievous blah blah etc...

What's funny is some of the stuff we have done for IV, V and VI, George has added little things and my voice has been in there. So myself and David Acord, who is also a voice actor, have our voices are [sic] in all six Star Wars films now. David, myself and Anthony Daniels are the only three people who are in all six Star Wars films!

That's Matthew Wood speaking there.

I'm struggling to prevent myself from saying unkind things about this person, so I'll leave it at that.

For some sick reason I'm more and more compelled to eventually see/her (through this sites and others screencaps) all the new changes that now make up the 2011 edition. At this point they've been changed that many times I no longer care, but curiosity has me wanting to know what the changes are/what was in "need" of change.

Been skipping around this while I can, I hadn't seen the workprint or anything. Anyway, this work is incredible. Even KNOWING 100% what was despecialized, I couldn't really tell if I didn't overthink about it. ;-)

Show it to anyone who has never seen RotJ and they will NOT be able to tell that it isn't the original. Save for the frame rate problem wiping from Jabba's Palace to the Dune Sea, its perfect so far!

I totally agree. I haven't watched it all but what I've seen is great.

I was a bit worried about the 'extra smoke' to hide the wipe seeing it on a big screen as opposed watching it on youtube on a small screen and by the time I noticed it was that sequence the fix had already come and gone and I hadn't even noticed it, so no complaints there.

As noted the eyebrows stood out but that was when I staring directly at them, when I just watched the scene for was it was completely fine.

The thing that really impressed me was the beak removal. For most shots staring directly at the sarlaac I could never tell there was a beak there. Bravo.

As for the frame rate problem noted above I know Harmy has explained this but can anyone remind me what that was. Something to do with the SE shot being shorter than the OT?

Yes, the links for this are down.

When I said the links worked for me, I put them in JDownloader and it said they were online I didn't go any further because I didn't want to download them again, sorry for giving the wrong impression.

You can't progress pass the captcha phase.

As for re-upping them it might be best to wait for Harmy to do it, where else can you upload 2GB files to other than the Czech site?

Q:  Was there anything else that you had to make up or add in?

A:  Occasionally in New Hope, there were things that could not be completely found, a few very subtle things like a footstep here and there or some background noise that we would just re-perform or get an approximate sound.  And of course, every time we watched the movies, George would find something that he wanted to change, so there were changes to the films visually as well as audio-wise, so there are some changes in the Blu-ray version that you guys will find!  It was funny, because we’d meticulously put it all together, “here’s what it was!” and then he’ll update it.

There is so much sad in that one response :(

Q:  Was there any thought given to archiving previous tracks like the 6-track master from the 70mm prints or the 78 mono remix?  Any thought given to putting them on the Blu-ray?

A:  Yes, we have those and they’ve all been digitized.  I don’t know if they considered putting those on the Blu-ray.  That might be more of a question for Marketing, it may be an issue of space.  It’s funny because I play those other audio tracks, like the scene when R2 and C3PO have been left on Tatooine and they walk through the canyon.  I just love that on the current mix, you can actually hear the quiet, when R2 is lonely, going through the canyon.  I played the original mix and it’s FULL of hiss and totally brittle, so it’s fun now to hear it like George wanted it to really be, what was intended.

A question for marketing, really? You can't put the original fucking mixes on these discs because either the sound will drop out for scenes at a time or go severely out of sync because the original cuts of the film are not there to go with them.

Wow!

Many thanks Harmy.

I've just started downloading it and I doubt I'll watch it in entirety until I'm in the ROTJ mood (whenever that may be) so I just wanted to say thanks now rather than later for all the hard work.

edit: Oh and thanks for choosing to upload where you did. Much faster than the site you uploaded SW DeEd to, at least for me.
