Here's a response I got back from LFL via e-mail today about the blu-ray release here it is : Thanks for reaching out. We are glad you are excited about the Blu-ray release. We put a lot of hard work into it to really give the fans something special. Regarding your questions; 1. Industrial Light and Magic did go in and make many technical improvements, most notably color matching on select lightsabers shots. 2. The list of extras for discs 7 & 8 are currently available online! We released all of that information on May 4th. 3. The Blu-rays will be the special editions of the movies.

I think bobafett785 should be commended for sinking to such depths to find this new info. Kudos.

He could have died to bring us this information.

I find it strange that many people have written to lucasfilm but received no replies and the only ones that have supposedly got a reply are those that constantly argue that they will be new transfers or that all the colours and lightsabers will be fixed. Funny though how not one of them would provide proof with the original email

You spelt it wrong. And I don't mean in the UK English vs US English way ;)

This was directed by Anthony Hemingway in the same manner as Richard Marquand directed Jedi.

Unfortunately, that's true.  Here is an excerpt from an Entertainment Weekly article addressing that very issue.

Lucas, who is also producing and financing, needs reshoots and must do them himself. According to two sources close to the project, Hemingway was hoping to stay on for the redos, but was already committed to direct episodes of David Simon's New Orleans series Treme for HBO. (Lucas wasn't willing to wait.)

Lucasfilm confirms the directorial shift, which FirstShowing.net broke, but denies any conflict with Hemingway, saying Lucas and producer Rick McCallum will oversee the reshoot — with Hemingway's approval

With Hemingway's approval.  Sure.

If they're scheduled reshoots can't you just schedule them to a time when the director is not shooting Treme?

Here's a quote from Daniela Ruah who's an actress in the film movie:

http://collider.com/daniela-ruah-interview-ncis-los-angeles/52411/

Daniela: That was a wonderful experience, mainly because it was my first big film. Just to be able to work on something that came out of George Lucas’ mind was quite an honor. Initially, it was directed by Anthony Hemingway, and then George Lucas wanted to change some of the tone of it and decided to direct it himself, so we had a few re-shoots and I got to work specifically with George Lucas on those re-shoots. That was really special, to see how he works and to see what the process is. They only had me for a weekend because I was shooting the show, so everything had to be on the ball, at all times.

And the rest?

New conspiracy theory: The colars are intentionally messed up to give fan-editors even less to work with ;)

Harmy, didn't you say you'd give your DeEd's another shot once the Blu-Ray's came out if you had better source material to work with?

I'd say you're going to have some much needed free time.

edit: for Ken-like spelling mistake. Oh the shame.

I wonder when we will get some official conformation on what has been changed to the films for the blu-ray release? Will episode 1 TPM indeed have the CGI Yoda and not the puppet yoda? Has their been additional work done to the films for the blu-rays? And also if the errors from the OT DVD have been addressed? I know what the answer will be no but lets wait for September 16th to find out for sure. Again those are questions I have I'm not trying to start any trouble here. Thanks.

Hey here's an idea. Let's not wait until September 16th. How about we find out all this necessary information ahead of time so people don't shell out their hard earned dollars and then find out oh wait these are the same shitty seven year old transfers.

A lot of people made that mistake in 2004 and they don't want to make that mistake again.

These flaws with the OT transfer from 2004 don't bother me at all why it bothers some fans I don't get. at all. It won't stop me from buying the blu-ray box set if it is indeed the case that the flaws are not fixed. If some don't like it then don't buy the set. I had hold'ed out hope for the erorrs from 2004 to be fixed but if their not I can deal with that.

My spell check just exploded.

Regarding that error at the bottom of the frame in the master can that be corrected us the frame before or after it? So you guys can once again fix George's movies for him.

The blu ray forum pic isn't showing up for me for whatever reason.

Thanks for the amazon link.  That sort of packaging is not going to hold up very wellwith kids want to watch the films often!

That's very true. The packaging is very collector orientated and the previous releases I mentioned are very much adult content. The kids can put the discs in empty cases or the garbage, whatever's preferable, I don't care.

Yeah that one looks closer to this one posted a while back as opposed to the one with the shitty disc art.

But the top pic confirms that the U.S release for the "saga" is the same book style Fox used for the Alien Anthology and also employed by HBO for Rome and Deadwood the complete series.

Commence the massive amounts of bitching as a result of the use this kind of book packaging. "oMFG I can't get the disks out, theyll' get sratched!!"

Personally I have the Deadwood boxset and it's fine. All that's necessary is being evolved enough to have opposable thumbs, but then again there will be some cretins who will be buying this set that for them this may be a problem.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Hi Harmy,

It's been a few weeks but I finally had the time to sit down and watch SW DeEd.

What can I say about the changes (or lack there of) that haven't already been said. Some are noticeable but the majority are seamless, really impressive stuff. But then again I'm not surprised.

What I really loved about this project was the change to the colour timing. That's my big hate about the 2004 edition. I'd rather watch the gout than watch the 2004 dvd even if the cg and other additions were removed.

This has the benefit of pretty great picture quality, the removal of all the added bullshit and (as close as possible) original colouring.

Now I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but I thought I'd point it out if it hadn't and I know you're looking at doing a v2.0 but I think I may have found a glitch.

At 48.05 and lasts for about a second:

Supposedly it was Spielberg, according to the digital bits guy on the HT forum. All 3 were going to come out along with Crystal Skull for xmas 2008. Spielberg wasn't happy with the quality (and apparently not happy with the cgi cliff) and put the kibosh on it.

That's some pretty interesting information.

Who controls these releases, Lucasfilm or Paramount? Obviously Lucasfilm wouldn't want a clash with SW on blu-ray but Paramount wouldn't necessarily give a crap.

2-3 years is a long time to wait for a release with supposed ready to go transfers. But then again judging from the Spielberg Jaws interview he's never been in any rush to get his films out on blu-ray.
