what are people here’s favorite issues or story lines from the series ?

Pretty much any of the issues written by Archie Goodwin and drawn by Carmine Infantino. Those really are the highlights of the entire original Marvel run for me. Everything after ESB, is fine, but to me they don’t quite have the same charm and great mix between cartoony and serious that Goodwin managed to pull off.

very cool , those were great issues , nice collection ! I have all of those as well .

One of my goals whenever I’m visiting the US is to get original copies of all of the Goodwin/Infantino issues (plus whatever else I can get my hands on from both orig. Marvel and Dark Horse).

So far I only have the first storyline with the Dragonlords, and some of the stand-alone stories set in between the Baron Tagge storylines.

I’m personally not a big fan of the Aduba-3 storyline, the Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven in space idea was a pretty cool idea, but it was a tad too silly for me. However, does anyone know why Chaykin stopped writing SW after this storyline and why he was replaced by Goodwin? I’ve heard that Lucas didn’t like the way he was handling the stories so he requested he be replaced. Can anyone verify is that’s true or just speculation?

I am wondering if there is a difference between colors in the various reprint trades.

You should see what they did to the original Marvel comics in Scandinavia. Not only did they have their own colours, but they even edited the art itself to make it all fit within these big album sized comics.

Imgur

Some examples of the editing they often did;
(The Dark Horse “A LONG TIME AGO” version of issue #31 “Return to Tatooine” on the left, and the Norwegian album version from 1982 on the right)

LINK to another example from issue #34 “Thunder in the Stars”

(PS. The movie adaptation of ANH didn’t even bother to make the colours similar, but they did at least never alter the art in any serious way.)
wow ! I have never seen some of those covers thank you for sharing ! they really stripped the colors out of some of those panels !

Star Wars Radio Drama - *update in 1st post* - completed review
Time

yes , It is strange for me as well as I was listening to The Empire Strikes Back Radio Drama on Friday ! I like it a lot though John Lithgow as Yoda is strange and takes some getting used to, also strange is that a very young David Allen Grier voices Boba Fett .It is shorter than the original radio drama but Mark Hamill , Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels reprise their roles . The Jedi drama is ok but only Anthony Daniels is in it , it makes a lot of references to Shadows Of The Empire which I thought was cool .I also have the book of the Script which was published by Del Rey for The Empire Strikes Back in 1995 , it is illustrated throughout with Johnston and McQuarrie storyboards and some of the dialogue is different to the commercially released tapes and cd’s . There was an article I read on the differences somewhere , wish I could find it …would love to see it if anyone has it .

Recommendations for Legends (old EU) books, comics, etc.

and I really do not get how long time members here can be so rude to someone who just put themselves out there and maybe like something you do not , dude was not even being critical of anything or any one and just wanted to socialize , I wonder how many people get turned off of this site and never come back due to this treatment . You never really know who they could be or what possibly valuable contributions they might make .

Hi I’m New to the Forum. anyways after seeing the new Disney films (Force Awakens,Rogue One,Last Jedi)I always felt the Books from Legends were a lot better then Disney movies. I’m currently enjoying the Courtship of Princess Leia.

I enjoyed that one as well and still have the paperback , I like how they introduced the Witches of Dathomir and they made it into clone wars in modified form . A warm welcome to you .

^ interesting concept and some decent ideas - enjoyed that…

that was great ! thank you for sharing , I got the impression that the kid was witnessing the battle of Jakku at one point . I think this would make a great prologue to TFA and even parallels events in another Star Wars movie but with a twist .

Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers **
Time

It seems like they are using a lot of concepts from both the Brian Daley and A.C. Crispin novels , I thought the trailers looked pretty good , Alden has big shoes to fill. When he did the voice over about being in the streets since 10 years old , did anyone else think it sounded like Ray Liotta in Goodfellas ? the last bit of dialogue Alden spoke as Han sounded a little too high pitched but other than that , I can’t nitpick too much .I will reserve judgement for when I see the movie . All of this makes me wonder how James Bond fans felt after Sean Connery left and others played the role .

also updated gallery with a watercolor and ink inspired by Dark Empire , felt appropriate as Dark Empire was originally slated to be a Marvel project …https://screamsinthevoid.deviantart.com/art/Dark-Empire-Luke-728765343

and a cool retro blog telling of the Dark Empire / Marvel connection…http://starlogged.blogspot.com/2013/05/1990-star-wars-dark-empire-at-marvel.html

Has anyone read this?

Looks kind interesting

I have read it , I am glad Lucas consulted others and continued with further drafts , it was neat to see one of his original scripts as a comic book though and I enjoyed all of the Ralph Mcquarrie concepts they used . I was wondering what relevance it had to the old Marvel series and then I saw the name of Randy Stradley as the editor and remembered he wrote the original Marvel Star Wars 86 , The Alderran factor ,which was a very good story IMHO and one of the few instances where you see Leia process the loss of her homeworld
