Which, we find out he means literally, but I also think there is a figurative meaning he was trying convey to Luke about Rey’s own abilities and disposition. Basically that she has the right mindset to be a good Jedi.

And I’ve mentioned this before, and I know people disagree with me, but I kind of think a lot of us have just assumed how the Force works without considering that it might be a little more mysterious than we’ve thought.

The Force, through the lightsaber, called out to Rey, even Maz described it as such. The Force called Rey to the Tree on Ach-To. The lightsaber flew into Rey’s hands not because she’s more powerful than Kylo Ren, but because the Force chose her. When Rey lets go of her own desires, the Force is acting through her. The Force has literally awakened, and I feel it plays a more active and obvious role in this story than it may have had in the past.

So the way I see it, it isn’t that Rey just has all these amazing skills. Yeah, she has some piloting, mechanic and survival skills, but that’s from her growing up on Jakku. Her “Jedi” skills are, in my opinion, are based in faith. She starts believing in the Force, especially after Han tells her and Finn about the Force and the Jedi.

I’m not trying to say your guys’ own interpretations are wrong or anything like that, but if you think of it this way it might be easier to rationalize. When I try to picture myself in her position, learning that stories of Jedi I grew up on were real, that the Force is real and that it is calling to me too, it helps me sympathize with how she is afraid of this newfound awakening within her and her desperation to understand it, like she is in The Last Jedi.

And who knows, maybe IX will reveal more to us about Rey, the Force, etc.

Also wanted to say despite my disagreements with OP and some others, I’m glad you guys feel like this is a pretty positive environment to discuss stuff. I might argue with people on here every once in a while, but it is all in good faith and I enjoy talking about it with you all!

to be fair , the film makers actually acknowledge in The Last Jedi that Rey’s powers are not the norm . Snoke says to Kylo , "you were unbalanced , bested by a girl who never held a lightsaber "!

I think I see what some are saying here about the vhs hiding some deficiencies in the master , I said it before and I think it bears repeating that the type of display plays a big part too . VHS Faces set looks very vivid and crisp on a crt tv whereas it looks faded on a modern display .The gout looks grainy and faded to my eyes either way .The guy in this video is playing the faces tapes on a couple of crt tv’s on a high quality vcr and it looks pretty damn good to me …https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QZOUB4gZ0I Now , I know it is in fullscreen but the colors really pop and hi fi analog stereo sound trumps dgital in my book .by way of comparison , here is a sample of the 2006 Gout bonus disc…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYCK6-MCn5Q the colors are much more desaturated .Also , does the definitive collection laserdisc have the blue tie fighter lasers in the asteroid chase scene from Empire that the faces tape has ?

I gotta agree with Chainsawash …I think Attack Of The Clones is the worst title hands down , when I first heard it I thought it was a joke and could not be real , but it was . Invoked memories of bad B movies like attack of the killer tomatoes .Hey , there is an edit title Frink would have loved …Attack of the killler clone tomatoes ! lol . As for the Rise of Skywalker …meh. It could be worse . It makes you wonder what it means and provides a hook , but I think it should have been thought out more if only for the life the film will have after the theaters on whatever media people will re watch it on .And I have already started hearing the inevitable jokes about little blue pills making Skywalker rise …

finally got around to seeing Infinity War …thought it was ok . Does anyone else think that the ground battle in Wakanda near the end ripped off the Gungan ground battle from The Phantom Menace a bit ?

^ That looks awesome ! Reminds me of some of the prequel concept paintings by Ryan Church and Claudia Gray is hands down one of the best writers in the new era of Star Wars fiction . I thought Bloodline and Lost Star’s were excellent !

That was one of my favorite two issue arcs of the series ! Archie Goodwin also did a story where Imperial officers plot to assasinate Vader in the newspaper strip around the same time those issues were published .That attempt failed as well .
