The Mandalorian - a general discussion thread - * SPOILERS *
Time

I have loved every minute of this series and the finale was awesome ! Live action Deathwatch Mando’s ,and the darksaber from Clone Wars ! Ig-11 was great and I look forward to seeing where the series goes from here . I wonder if baby Yoda will end up making his way to Luke in the end . I had a thought (probably wrong ) that maybe the yadpole is a sort of reincarnation . Yoda was very much inspired by Zen Bhuddism and Eastern philosophy according to Irvin Kershner , and reincarnation factors into Bhuddism . Maybe yadpole is a reincarnated Yoda after all and the 50 year old thing is just "from a certain point of view " .If not , my other thing to speculate on is , where was he during the prequels and OT ?

What is your personal canon?
Time

my personal Canon changes depending on my mood , and incorporates some fan edits , fan films etc ,diverging timelines etc . If going with the “legends” EU , then it would be …
Tales Of The Jedi Comics
Han Solo novels by Brian Daley
Lando novels by L.Neil Smith
1985 Droids animated series
Star Wars Revisited
Original Marvel Star wars comics 7-38
Holiday special Boba Fett Cartoon
Rebel Mission To ORD Mantell audio drama
The Empire Strikes Back
Vader’s memories fan edit , tells the story of the prequels in just over an hour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1AcBBpjkDg
Original Marvel Star Wars 45-68
Shadows of The Empire novel and comic
Original Marvel Star Wars 69 -80
Return Of The Jedi
Marvel Star Wars 81-103, 107
Heir To The Empire trilogy of novels
Dark Empire 1 comic series
Hand Of Thrawn Duology by Zahn

this is just off the top of my head , sometimes there is more , sometimes less . But this is in chronological order for me.

Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

This movie seems like a loose adaption of the Dark Empire comics to me. The whole Palpatine arc looks to be directly taken from that.

^ I thought this too …Palpatine even says the same line about it not being the first time he died . That also looked like Pinnacle base that Poe flew the Falcon through while skipping through hyperspace.

The Rise Of Skywalker — Official Review and Opinions Thread
Time

saw it today and really enjoyed it over all …the 30 minutes of trailers and ads beforehand kind of put me in a frustrated mood though . The first 40 minutes or so had me thinking the film felt more like a coda than a finale…until Han showed up …then I was emotionally invested and Liked the way the legacy characters were handled . John Williams musical score and reprisal of OT motifs played a big part in my enjoyment . I knew he was playing on my emotions through the music and let it flow through me anyway . I teared up in more than a few places…Luke lifting the X-Wing at last , The main Star Wars theme playing when Lando brought the massive ,massive fleet of allies in which filled the entire frame . I saw the promo shot of a bunch of ships, but this was even better than I expected, also got spine tingles at the end scene at the Lars homestead . John Williams really is a genius ! other random thoughts…I really thought from the publicity images that that medallion that Zori Bliss had was going to be from the back of Threepio’s head and contain a lot of unrevealed info for the characters. This may have been touched upon elsewhere, and it made me scratch my head even in TFA…in the original movie , Han says travelling through hyperspace aint like dusting crops and without precise calculations from the navicomputer , they could bounce too near a star or hit a supernova and that would end their trip real quick . Does this no longer apply , or has there been upgrades to hyperspace tech in the 30 year interim ? At least they did show a lot of damage to the Falcon after Poe’s hyperspace skipping.Speaking of that hyperspace skip scene … was that a nod to Dark Empire and pinnacle base they flew through ? That is the way I saw it . And there was also a nice nod to Ralph Mcquarrie’s art in that sequence. Also , when the Emperor said it was not the first time he died , I interpreted that as a nice nod to Dark Empire as well . He said the same line in that comic ! Anyway , I think it was a nice end to the Skywalker saga and enjoyed all of the applause it got in the screening I attended . May The Force Be With You …Always !

^ that would make an awesome blanket ! The top right panel of Vader is actually the last page of issue 62 which was titled Pariah . It is not in the picture here , but at the bottom of the page there was a footnote by the creators of the comic which said…We DARE YOU not to by the next issue ! That issue was part of my all time favorite story line outside of the films and the one directly after the issue I took my screen name from .

Small details that took you FOREVER to notice in the Star Wars films
Time

I watched Return Of The Jedi last night and caught something that I never gave much thought …when the Emperor tells Vader to go to the sanctuary moon and wait for Skywalker , he does not arrive on the moon until after nightfall .In the scene right after Vader has his talk with Palps ,the rebels land on Endor and a full day passes into night before Luke goes off to meet Vader . Was there that much travel time between Death Star 2 and Endor via shuttle ? Or did Vader go off and meditate for a while before departing ? I guess this could be open to a lot of speculation .

I take back my previous statement about the weirdest cover, this is by far the strangest one;

This is clearly the cover for issue #2 but with Luke re-drawn to look like Han and with Obi Wan’s head covered by a helmet. The other Colombian covers are the same as the originals (minus the colours) and this issue seems to come from after the movie adaptation so I have no idea what’s going on here.

in the blog , he explains that it translates to new planets and perils , which is issue 7 , the first comic after the movie . Ben has his head replaced with what is supposed to be the insect priest from that issue and his lightsaber is supposed to be is staff , they shortened Luke’s tunic a bit and put Han’s vest on him and changed te hair to brown . Yeah, it was a very weird choice to repurpose the cover to issue 2 like that . Keep going back a few pages and you will see more strange stuff !

Dune - radical fan edit ideas
Time

I think a truly radical edit would be to combine ideas from both Jodorowsky’s unmade Dune with the David Lynch film …a couple of ideas that I put together a while back…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf9hIx1Maio and also …https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lXkjj_6WQg I would definitely use some of the ideas in this thread and combine them with concept art from both projects for my dream edit . I love the Lynch film , but would drastically tone down the over the top villainy of the Baron Harkonen and his nephews , and it always bugged me that Dr. Yeuh’s being revealed as the traitor was telegraphed from a mile away .
