<strong>Disney+</strong> streaming platform : <strong>Star Wars content</strong> &amp; various other info
Time

yeah , I thought that was neat too , started to watch it not too long ago . I only wish they had Navajo subtitles as well , might be a good way to learn the language . I heard the now out of print DVD they put out years ago has Navajo subtitles . What they have on D+ seems to be the Macklunkey edition with the Navajo dub ported over .

Star Wars: deleted and extended scenes * database *
Time

Good Evening All,

I am still individually colorizing the frames for the extended “hangar scene” from return of the jedi. There is some color bleed and missing color in some spots, but this is a work in progress that will take some time. This is what I have so far.

Once I am done coloring and cleaning all the frames as best possible, I will composite the millennium falcon matte painting behind the actors and add a little grain to somewhat blend it all together, and then render out a final video clip.

Benduwan is putting an together an extended cut of ROTJ. This will be my first real contribution to this project.
Comments and critique are welcomed.

I was also surprised to see that Droids was not on that list , especially as some of those who worked on the OT had a hand in making that show ;Ben Burtt , Joe Johnston etc . Still cool to see them acknowledge that older material .I hope it leads to them releasing more ( like Droids )and opens up a possibility of adapting " legends " material in animation ala the DC animated universe or even live action .

RocketJump's Video on Star Wars &quot;being saved in the edit&quot; is Literally a Lie <em>(*no, it is not)</em>

and if one scrolls down far enough in the comments of RJ’s video , one will see that RJ even had to state in the comments that he wasn’t trying to attack Lucas.

“That was never the goal, nor the intent of this video,” he wrote. “It should go without saying that George Lucas supervised, approved, and even contributed to all of these editorial changes. However, having seen the response, this is a point of fact that clearly should’ve been stated and it was an oversight on my part that that simple acknowledgment wasn’t included.”

I just wish he had thought to add that to the description of the video afterwards .

yeah , I thought it was vitriolic too , on a somewhat related tangent to the topic at hand, I find this conversation with Marcia Lucas and Ben Burtt in this video very interesting . Starts at the one hour mark and goes on for about 15 minutes …https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOxfmq0nCEs

Yup , and he edited the description after I called him out on it multiple times , seems he removed the comments too . here is the exchange …me -Nice faux radio show . I was almost convinced this was real .The “commercials” are taken from the call in promotion in 1980 where you could pay to hear the actors in character promoting the film ,and the interviews with the actors were conducted at the time of the films release and are available elsewhere on youtube . A google search turns up no evidence of this “1980 Radio Special " save for your video here . That said , the production value here is pretty good and that spinning tape up there enhances the illusion . To quote Mark Hamill in this , " When it’s cut together , it really looks like we’re carrying on a conversation .”

him-Thank you! I could find no recording of this special either.

me-lol . A bit disingenuous to try and pass it off as authentic no ? kinda ballsy .

him- Not at all. I read the DJ script that came with the record full of interviews and assembled it just how they did in 1980.

me- this still gives one the impression that you are the one doing the interviews. Perhaps you should put that in the description. And do you have a link or source for this record you mentioned ?

him-Thanks for listening and I appreciate the kind comments from the start.

me- sarcastic more than kind . So , where can this non existing record with the DJ script be found ?

him-Here you go my friend - the non-existing record. https://bid.vegalleries.com/The-Empire-Strikes-Back-Radio-Interview-Record_i36820718

me- ok , I will concede that I was wrong about that record existing , took some digging beyond your link and found a listing for it on the star wars collectors archive . Not very much info on it online .Still , why not just play the record itself , or note that this is a reconstruction of its contents in your description for this video ? I still think its misleading and disingenuous not to do so . Specifically , if you had added this to your description " (Lucasfilm, 1980) A radio interview record for The Empire Strikes Back. Records such as these were sent to radio stations with a list of questions and cues included, so that local radio stations could “interview” the cast of the film. " , and mentioned that you were reading the script that came with the record in order to recreate the experience of a radio station airing it , it would have cleared up a lot of confusion .

him- dude, the only thing on the record were the interviews. Nothing else - I crafted the entire radio show around the static interviews that were on the record itself. Please feel free to make your own version if you dont care for what I’ve done. I look forward to seeing it!

me- the production is not the issue , it’s the fact that you did not state this information in your videos description that is the problem . Any user unaware of this record would think that is your original production and that you were the one conducting the Interviews back in 1980 . Or that maybe you obtained broadcast rights from Backstage Productions Incorporated, as the sleeve on the record script suggests in the expired listing you linked to in response to my comments.

so yeah , he went back and added the disclaimer with this disingenuous remark…(PS: Yes, this is a RE-CREATION of a radio show that no copies seem exist of - yes it is ME doing the narration. Apparently, it’s so authentic sounding it’s fooling people…compliment, I suppose?)

All I can think of now is Jason’s comment regarding Strawmen , " Asserting someone is claming something that they are not . something much weaker than they actually claimed , and then disproving the thing they never claimed in the first place " -to paraphrase .

Wow , this guy is really ballsy , compiles a bunch of audio clips that are freely available elsewhere on youtube and tries to pass it off as an authentic 1980 radio special , with himself as the interviewer …https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gfcq3p0-WjA I called him out in the comments , be interesting to see if he replies .

It’d be like if when Darth Vader revealed to Luke that he’s his father, people went “Is really he though?”

^Actually , a lot of people did just that , James Earl Jones included . It was part of the cliffhanger in ESB and the three year wait between films was a time of speculation on the question of whether or not he was in fact Luke’s father or if he was lying .

there was also speculation that Obi-Wan might be a clone of the real Kenobi . The theory was that Obi-Wan was Obi-1 .

Where and when did this happen? It has been mentioned in another thread, but when was this theory making the rounds in fandom? In the 80s? The lead up to the release of TPM?

^ In the 80’s , I was around for it ( first generation fan ) A lot of sci fi magazines and the people who wrote in to them speculated on it . Some of it carried over into the 90s before the prequels . Publications like Cinescape etc .There was also an issue of Star Wars official poster monthly that came out around 1978 or 79 that mentioned that the Storm troopers were clones .

Very, very interesting! I did not know that there was official material released so early on which established that the Stormtroopers were clones. I thought it was still speculation right up to sometime between the release of TPM and AOTC.

There are a lot of early issues of official poster monthly archived on TheForce.Net , here is the entry from issue 4 which details the Storm Troopers as clones …http://www.theforce.net/image_popup/image_popup_global.asp?Image=timetales/misc/arcana/post4-03.jpg

Unpopular Opinion Thread

The early marketing kind of implied that Luke might go to the dark side , first, in the title ,Revenge Of The Jedi ,before it was changed , then in the first trailers where we see him all dressed in black , like Vader . Plus one of those trailers had a shot of Luke and Vader side by side in the elevator .You could not see any binders on Luke’s hands in that shot . And at that point , it was not confirmed that Vader was his father . As a kid in 1980 , I didn’t believe it and thought Vader was lying .The truth came as a shock to me , but the blow was lessened due to a friend of mine letting me read his Marvel Super Special adaptation of Return Of The Jedi ,which actually came out a few weeks before the movie .

when I read the novelization of The Empire Strikes Back , the passage regarding Boba Fett wearing the armor of a group of evil warriors who were defeated by the Jedi Knights during the Clone Wars , led me to believe that the Mandalorians would have been the clones of The Clone Wars . A lot of publications also speculated on this around that time …Starlog , Cinefex etc . Plus there was also speculation that Obi-Wan might be a clone of the real Kenobi . The theory was that Obi-Wan was Obi-1 .
