adywan said:interesting to note about the later XVID codecs supporting AR. try updating to the latest XVID codec to see if that fixes the problem because all of my Vids are encoded with the latest version of koepi's Xvid codec v 1.2.1
Well, mplayer uses a form of ffmpeg. Quicktime on the mac probably uses it's own codec? So that won't help.
Deathcrow said:satanika said:Deathcrow said:adywan said:there has to be something conflicting with the header on your system. could be a codec issue as mentioned. you can use MediaInfo to check all the details of video file. here's a screenshot of the info for the trailer:
as you can see the header is correct.
Are we sure about this? I can't believe that mplayer/ffmpeg is just imagining this up out of thin air! Where should this info come from if not somewhere from within the file? Maybe someone with more experience than me can find out more?
... and i dont want to go on the dev-mailing list of mplayer with something trivial like this (oss devs can get kind of annoyed ;)
Well, in the trailer only the pixel aspect ratio is set apparently(?) (to square pixels), mplayer seems to want the display aspect ratio too... If you set the display ar to 2.35:1 with e.g. mpeg4modifier, it will display correctly.
Whether mplayer is at fault or the header is lacking I cannot say, though... But it's an easy fix.
Yeah i also know of a lot of simple ways to fix this problem for me personally. I am just worried a little bit about other people who may not have enough technical experience and then will turn away because of this if they see a stretched image and think "WTF is this?". You know?
Hmm... Ady, you might consider running the trailer (and future clips) through mpeg4modifier, since it does no harm and fixes it for those players that have problems with the ar.
Not saying it's your fault, it might be the players that's at fault - but the fix literally takes seconds, and then everyone should see it the correct way. :)

I wanted to post in this thread some of the retouched posters I've worked on (some were in the dvd covers thread).
ANH Style A expanded/textless
ESB Style A variant expanded (where is this variant from??)
ESB Style C textless
ROTJ Style B three variants textless
I can't say they're 100% perfect, but it's some of the best you'll find for these versions.
Or you can do your own. :)
Glad at least one person wanted it. :)
One nice thing you can do with this disc is just plop it in your dvd player and it should play all three movies in an endless loop... or until your player melts. ;)
It's eternal star wars...
I had never seen the ESB style A variant with Lando, Boba & Cloud City and I wanted to try expanding it.
(see below)
vaderios said:But as you said μ maybe it means something about measurements.
Here we dont use it anyways :)
You don't use the metric system in Greece??
The Royal Decree Number 56 (1836) On Weights and Measures, Law 2526 (1920) On Weights and Measures and the Legislative Decree 3957 (1959) On the Inroduction in Greece of the International Metric System would disagree with you... ;)
Sorry for going off on a tangent.
vaderios said:And in Greek is not mean Micro ;)
Well it does if you're talking about measurements... ;)
So would you like better 'Puggo µ' or 'Puggo [mju:]'
Ripplin said:Tons of info here, all interesting, some goofy: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/IG-88
And I like that concept drawing better than the final in some ways.
That concept drawing reminds me of Maximillian from The Black Hole.
Puggo - Jar Jar's Yoda said:satanika said:Pµggo
How did you do that?
It's the Greek letter mu and usually means micro.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro-
I just copy pasted it :)
Pµggo
So you still have IVTC problems?
There are several people knowledgeable about these things on the forum, and your problems could likely be solved if you gave some specific info or a small clip of the problematic part.
The 1997 SEs were released on VCD in Singapore and Malaysia in 2000.
This was the first (official) digital release of Star Wars I believe.
I decided to backup my VCDs by putting them on DVD.
This way you get all three movies on one disc in crappy quality!
The original VCDs were ripped with vcdgear and the mpegs were plopped into dvdlab to create a rudimentary DVD. The 44.1kHz MP2 audio was recoded to 48kHz AC3 to be DVD compliant. Video is the untouched MPEG1 - PAL & fullscreen/pan&scan.
Only completists/collectors would be interested in this, but if you already have the CED, bootleg telecine etc. etc. you might also want this…
Should be in a.b.sw in a few hours. (Will not appear anywhere else, sorry.)
Someone posted this in the ESB:R thread:
zrdb said:I don't know if this has been posted but I thought I'd pass in on-if anybody has had problems playing back the achhd versions of SW 4 & 5 on their bluray players here's the scoop. The iso images that can be downloaded are actually bluray on dvd-not achvd. What I did was mount the iso image useing Daemon tools, then open it and go to the stream folder and open that to get to the m2ts stream-now using a tool called multiAVHCD you can make a fully avhcd compliant folder to burn to a dvd dl blank using imageburn (2.5 udf)-as an alternative you can edit the iso image. Most bluray players won't play bluray on dvd. I hope this helps.
Dunno if the info is accurate, but it's an easy fix to try.
Thanks, hairy_hen!
For anyone interested in upmixing to 5.1 here's a small script you might find useful.
It uses avisynth (so needs that installed) and is based on soxfilter - Farina.
Extract and put one of the pcm's (DC48 DVD.wav for example) in the same folder.
Run the __Run_WAV_to_5.1_Multichannel_WAV.bat - and wait....
Split the wav with BeSplit like
besplit -core( -input "dc48 dvd51.wav" -prefix chn -type wav -demux )
or similar..
The channels should be in this order after splitting - FL FR FC LF BL BR.
Now ofcourse you would probably replace the lfe with hairy_hen's and encode to ac3 or dts.

Ah interesting idea..
So you're saying the bluetits somehow symbolizes the dark side?? Yeah I think it could work!
...
Oh blue TINTS... My bad...
;)
mrbenja0618 said:Hmm... I might need to try this... Now if I could fix my Maxtor drive.... Does anyone know why it keeps telling me to format when nothing is there? It keeps me from using it. Could Partition magic help this?
You may need to explain more clearly what the problem is...
Are you saying you can't access the drive and windows is asking you to format it? Then the drive and/or the partition table has been corrupted, and you may need to run some recovery software if you need data on that drive.
You could try and see if this can detect the partition on the drive.
Lol this thread is now tech-support?? ;)
adywan said:ChainsawAsh said:Yeah, it sounds like your drive is FAT32 - in order to change it, you need to reformat your hard drive, which means erasing everything.
no you don't have to do that. you can use a program like partition magic to change the formatting from FAT32 to NTFS without losing anything. All it does is change the file system so all your files aren't changed.
If you just need to convert fat32->ntfs there's a tool built into windows.
convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs
If anyone else wanted the '1977 35mm Dolby Stereo Mix (reference level)' and/or 'the Star Wars 1985 LD Mix (raw cap, not synced to gout)' feel free to pm me.
ChainsawAsh said:No idea. Wasn't that an NTSC conversion of a PAL LD transfer?
Mmm, I had a look around my hd, and I have these audios (wav except the in-theater ones):
DC48_DVD = Star Wars - 1993 DC/Faces Mix
DS48_RL = Star Wars - 1977 35mm Dolby Stereo Mix (reference level)
Star Wars 70mm In-Theater Audio Recording (BrianM)
Star Wars 70mm In-Theater Audio Recording (morgands1)
Belbucus' 70mm vs. '93 remix comparison
85remix - "Star Wars 1985 LD Mix"
Star Wars Mono Soundmix FLAC (PAL ITV broadcast)
ESB_93 = The Empire Strikes Back - 1993 DC/Faces Mix
ROTJ_93 = Return Of The Jedi - 1993 DC/Faces Mix
Isn't the theatrical stereo on Moth3r's Pwnage Edition?
RE the EditDroid audio (quote from nfo):
[...]the isolated scores, whose sources were all the commercially available soundtracks, as well as the promotional Lapti Nek 12" single (NO other sources were used for the music. Period).
So if it's on there it should be on some official release?

I think it's on usenet also.
