STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I didnt mean the duration of the sunset/sunrise was longer because of rotation nor by size of the planet. It just has to be different and "longer" since there is no "land" that covers the sun, so the sun just fades away slowly between the clouds untill you cant see it because you have too many clouds/gas or they are too dense to show it.

On earth the light disappears a few minutes after the sun has passed the horizon. Here, you dont have any horizon to cover the sun, so even when the sun is "under" the horizon you can still see it for a while, thats why its longer.

What i mean is that is not as inmediate as on a standard planet, there is no contrast between earth and sky, so the sun doesnt "set" just "fades". But ok, after a while there should be night.

Probably real gas giants arent translucent sice most of their gases are Not traslucent. But in Bespin we can see that most of its gas is oxygen. I dont mean it should be "sunset" all the time, but light would go through, or at least sunsets (and sunrises) would last MUCH more hours that it does on earth.

Anyway i was trying to go to an extreme. Wich i mean is that you shouldnt care too much about what would the sky look like on sunrise or sunset when you are talking about a "giant tibanna gas planet".

Sorry, i was out on vacations...

I love the ones Coov did, the ones that resemble LOTR in bluray. I would say that AOTC needs a bit more tweaking... You can tell Dooku is not from the same artwork, and Jango's legs look too shinny.

Sans fi are you still on these boards some where? I had indicated before how much I love the above work of yours. Are they done in Photoshop? Id love to get ahold of the PSD files if they are.

About my retro-posters, they were not made with Photoshop, so sorry but i cant share the original files. They were made with Paint Shop Pro (long story).

Actually, the time that Luke needed to train for a Jedi, didnt ever bother me untill the Prequels came and told us that training for a Jedi took like 20 years. But also, the prequels gave the Jedi much more power than what they had on the original trilogy.

The original Trilogy concept of a Jedi wasnt that much about The Superpowers, it was more about the person, and Luke was raised well by his uncles.

A standard Jedi would be like Obi Wan or Yoda, not really using their powers. They are more important as Who they are, leaders, masters, heroes, "Knights"

Luke is meant to be Powerful. The whole rescue on the Jabba's palace is meant to represent how centered he is and how much of a Leader he is and at the same time, to show how he could alone destroy the whole Jabba's crew.

What i mean, is that in the original trilogy concept of Jedi, it doesnt take THAT long to learn the philosphy of the Jedi code, you just need to face it and help you get centered (there is no need for learning tricks and combat style)

I think, leave that background untouched. Its a very great neutral background, even if you would see that thing or not. The background as a "twister of lights" feels great, almost like if they are in some kind of dream (or nightmare).

And i dont really like the lightsabers to be too bright and colorful, those are getting too ROTS.

When tweaking things we think too much on where the light should be, or how something would really work phisically, without thinking if the colors match visualy, if it should be there, or if the tweak would be too distracting. (Thats one of the main flaws of the prequels special effects... ILM was too busy making them too real to realise they might not need to be).

fishmanlee, im guessing just one cut with no story changes.

ChainsawAsh, it wouldnt make sense "then perhaps she will" since Leia shouldnt be force sesitive.

Back to ESB:R

Since Vanderios is going to change the melting metal from the last part of the lighsaber battle between Luke and Vader.

There should be noticed many places on that lighsaber fight where Vader hits something and at least for a moment have it "melting", and be carefull that the places they hit the handrail wasnt broken before the lightsaber hit it.

Specially, there is one moment, when Luke and Vader are just coming out from that door that Vader hits with his lightsaber the wall (clearly) There should be a scratch...

This is some kind of personal thing, and it will affect the story IN A HUGE WAY... It mainly affects ROTJ, but there is one little scene here.

Dont make Luke and Leia Brother and Sister... It just feels forced and stupid. It makes no sense that nobody ever felt the force in her, why obi-wan never even cared about her rescue on A New Hope, why nor yoda nor obi-wan even cared training her AT THE SAME TIME as Luke. And it breaks that tension between Han-Leia-Luke, without really giving anything to the story.

It wouldnt be that hard to edit from ROTJ, the biggest change would be how to make luke get angry with vader... But any other time is just cutting dialogue.

In ESB youll have to cut down the "No, there is another" (thats why im posting this here first and not waiting untill ROTJ:R)

I dont think the probe droid landing should be fixed...

There are three things not listed on the first post that might be fixed (i know some of this stuff was fixed on ANH:R)

When the probe droid explodes, the explosion doesnt feel fluid, like if there was some cut in there

When the last of the snowtroopers dies when the falcon is about to take off, there seems to be one frame missing.

And, i know this is hard but... The mynocks... At least when they are flying around Leia...

i mean really does changing the sabers really further the story?

Actually, what i like about this Edit is that it doesnt touch the story, it just tweaks some visual stuff like lightsabers, some special effects, mistakes, etc...

Ady, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope you get better soon. I'm glad you came in and mentioned the things you did to get this thread back on track. It was getting a bit shaky in here for a bit.

I'm only mentioning this because it had been brought up a couple pages ago again. As far as the probe droid crashing twice, I never cared for it as is, because it didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the trilogy, since that was the only time an event had been shown twice from different perspectives. When I was young, I used to think it was 2 separate probe droids. Now I can see that they meant it to be the same, but I still don't particularly like how they handled it. I think it is because of the amount of time between when you see the first impact and the second. You not only see the impact twice, but you see the probe droid rise up and leave after the first strike, then you see it from the beginning again. Here's an idea of how I think it might have looked more seamless (wish I had some skill here to put together a mock-up):

1) Show the Probe droids getting fired from the Star Destroyer in the beginning, as is.

2)But , instead of showing the probe droid immediately entering the atmosphere of hoth, cut from the probe droids being fired from the Star Destroyer to an establishing shot of Hoth, without the probe droid arriving yet.

3) Now introduce Luke on his Tauntaun.

4) Then cut to the shot from space of the probe droid entering the atmosphere of Hoth, followed by the first impact (untouched). Do not show the probe droid rising yet.

5) Now cut to Luke grabbing his scope and checking it out, talking to Han, etc.

6) After Luke gets swiped by the Wampa and dragged away, then show the probe droid rising and flying off, followed by the next scene, at the base.

Not sure how this would actually look. I'm pretty sure this would be very easy to cut together, but the music would probably be affected, so I'm not expecting that this can really be done. However, I think if this had been done something like this to begin with, it would have seemed more seamless and a lot less confusing to people.

I dont think this should be edited. Its the begining of the film, and even if it doesnt "Fit", its important that the rythm and each scenes tell what they are supposed to tell.

The first probe droid landing is mysterious and in some way "evil" it connects with what the main crawl was saying about the Empire Striking Back.

Then, you have Luke Skywalker, our main character, that needs his introduction with his music.

Even if you edit it like this:

First the probe aproaching, then Luke sees the probe crashing with his music and his dialogue, then the wampa arrives and knocks Luke, and then the probe Droid appears out of the crater... I dont know, it still doesnt feel right, too many things happens between the droid crashing and the droid coming out.

Each scene tells something different.

Thanks for that analysis, really.

Also, all of the Han Solos are from ANH, and the second Leia is from ROTJ. The main issue here was to try to have as much quality on the images as the right position/lighting, so (even if i tried) the fact that they are not from the movie itself didnt bother me too much (It did with Luke, beacuse i think he is the one with most changes, and with Leia's hair). Lando from Return of the Jedi did indeed bother me, but i couldnt find a good Lando with his General suit, so i changed his Bespin clothes from blue to orange. But if you are able to find me some of those right images with enough quality be sure ill add them and ill thank you.

And the fact that they look exactly like the Prequel posters was made on purpose. Actually, i had the "rule" of not adding anything to it if there wasnt on the equivalent poster... Ok, maybe its stupid, but for me was kinda an inside joke for how unoriginal George Lucas is, and how using the original characters to the prequel posters would FIT perfectly (what? I have fun with that stuff) Like Vanderios said they are "Retro-prequel posters". I wanted them to be recognizable, so its not really a copy per se, its more a reference...

I wouldnt like to add the Two Death stars... Two round spheres (or part of them) wouldnt look good, they would just look like something floating, and they arent "good looking". On the other hand, indeed Bespin on ESB could fit, even i thought of adding it, but i didnt because i wanted to keep it like the original poster... Just character faces and a hint of the most important scene/ship.

Thanks...

I could tweak a few things, like the Endor background on ROTJ, there is something behind Han on ROTJ that shouldnt be there...

I dont like the Luke for ROTJ, but i couldnt find any other pic with enough resolution for that poster (even in that pic, i had to recreate the hair). Also the Lando of ESB doesnt feel good either.

But i cant fix things like the stormtroopers looking like a drawing, different lights, or that Leia from ESB. And about mixing drawings with photos, you cant find all those images as drawings.

I can tone down the colors of ANH and ESB, to give it a more serious feeling.

My theory about the ROTJ poster is that there isnt actually any real/decent/nice poster for Return of the Jedi, the only good poster about it was the Teaser for Revenge of the Jedi. The theatrical poster is very crappy, as the Special Edition one.

EDIT:

Ok, changed the tone of some colors, and changed some colors (specially on ANH). Fixed some little details.

This is mostly everything i can do to it. I could do biggest fixes if i had better images to work with...

Ok, im not really sure if this should be posted here... But, i have this ideas for the covers of the DVDs, but i dont have the "official" titles of the Adywan Revisited editions...

Playing with the prequel trilogy posters (thank God, George Lucas is very unoriginal), they feel new, but they still feel Drew Struzan alike...

I believe the panscan that the camera do at the end of ROTJ is more a flyby from planet to planet. So its good to be kept there.

But it doesnt have to be the SAME shot, feels repeated... thats why im sugesting change it on ESB, since its easier to change.

First of all: Hello there.

This is my first post here, but ive been folowing adywans work here for a while. I hope i can do anything for help, im not too good with video editing, but ill try to help with everything i can.

First an idea, i know this has to do with Return of the Jedi, but also with Empire Strikes Back, and is easier to change in Empire.

This shot was added for the special edition and appears on Empire when Lando is warning the city to evacuate, and in Jedi at the ending celebration. Since in Return of the Jedi it is a pan shot, with crowd cheering, i guess its easier to change it (or substitute it) on ESB (Or tweak it in some way on ROTJ, like changing the sky, i dont know)

Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

Then, I have made a little test about the hologram of the Emperor on ESB. There is just one shot where the Emperor actually speaks seen from the side "Can it be done". Since it would be hard to use the eyes from ROTJ and the mouth from the DVD for that side shot, i have found this moment on ROTJ when he says "and when he does" and it kinda fits with "can it be done".

Since the hologram will have distorsions, you wont see that the mouth doesnt fit with what he says, nor that he is "frozen" when he doesnt speak.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpvstrolYU8

I know, its not very well done... The emperor is steady as his hologram should be (thats why the background moves, because he was walking there)
