Yeah, the baby getting lost wasnt too much of a concern as the baby topic pops right back up like 2 minutes later after Anakin awakes from his vision. I cut that next conversation pretty well. But the baby is mentioned again. Now with alot more concern of course.

By the way, i didnt mention this, but i truly love how you edited that whole conversation.

The first time i saw the movie, when he starts talking about how long they have been apart, he hasnt seen her for ages... she says "talking about that... im pregnant",  wait, what? who?

The music flows perfectly with your new edit and I like how it ends with the Darth Vader's death theme.

About the colour, I like the use of red all around (Lightsabers, staffs, control panels)... maybe i think red is already too used for "Bad Guy", but actually for THIS shot, makes the color composition more appealing.

But beware... there are still some green and blue reflections on Grievous on that shot.

An update. Last one for awhile. Gonna be buckling down and getting as much of this done as possible. Took a few days break and ready to get back too it.

You could take some good lines from the TV show for grievous if you need them. The voice is exactly the same, and he actually has better dialogue there... I like that Grievous uses lots of bad guy one liners like "Make him suffer" or "You loose!".

I also like that Obi-Wan and Grievous have the usual relationship between a comic hero and a comic villain. They know each other, they have fought many times, and Obi Wan always manages to make fun coments about him (similar to Spiderman vs Dr Octopus, for example)

I think there should be more references to that old relationship between them. Saying lines like "we meet again, and for the last time", not having that shot of Obi-Wan surprised about his 4 arms, and things like that. That would make Grievous a character in Obi-Wan's life, not just a plot element for the first half part of the movie.

That would explain why they send Obi-Wan to kill him. That would make Grievous a better character, more than just "Hey, i know you killed the bad guy but there is another NEW bad guy you now have to kill". Its a cheat, but making Obi-Wan and Grievous know each other very well makes Grievous not be "The new guy nobody cares about".

Yes, but on Episode III Anakin doesnt seem to turn to the dark side because he gets angry sometimes or lets his feelings control him.

The only reason that is put on Episode III for Anakin to serve Palpatine is the promise of:

"If you kill good people i will (try to) teach you a new power to save good people from death"

Thats it. THAT is the only reason. They even say it three or four times during the film. The ONLY reason for him to do evil things is so Palpatine teaches him new jedi-powers on his jedi-powers list.

So, its not really his choise, he isnt seduced, he is simply extorsioned/tricked into it.

Thats why everybody thinks, when Padme is dead, well, now he will tell Palpatine to stick his new powers up his ass, and hang himself. Since there is NO REASON for Anakin to keep doing evil things.

So, really? Darth Vader spends 25 years thinking "If I keep doing this EVIL stuff maybe, someday, Palpatine and I, maybe, we will start the process of talking about proability of investigating how we somehow can discover the lost knowledge of saving the person that is already dead"?

Grievous arrives at night

Dark mood for dark times.

Incredible mockup.

That would mean changing many many many lights on couple of shots...

Also, that arrival serves to introduce the planet aswell. And this planet isnt really as recognisable as Hoth or Tatooine. Utapau is Utapau because of its colours. If you have it at night... well, when Obiwan arrives there you might need to introduce it again :D

If you think of the three movies as just one story, dependent of the original trilogy's storyline you are going to have the same problems as George Lucas did.

He first thought what main plot points the trilogy had to have. Characters meet, Introduce the bad guys, Anakin and Padme fall in love, explain the clone wars, Anakin turns to the dark side, Jedi die, Empire is born and the babies are born.

So basiacly he spreaded those plot points through three movies and tried to give it some background storyline... you know:

Trade Routes, Separatists (wich were never explained and never made too much sense), One man controling both sides of a war and The Prophecy.

There was never a good unique storyline on the precuels, and the only good moments of the movies where when they showed the things we already knew.

So if instead of thinking how you can make a whole story out of the three movies (making them dependent of each other), i suggest you do them one by one. Ok, its not bad to think whats going to happen on 2 and 3, but dont try to do a Lord of the Rings trilogy, as just one long movie.

If you make them as independent adventure movies, the REALLY important elements will come along naturaly with it. (Sense of adventure, Good vs evil, Friendship between the characters, pacing...)

So, 1st movie: Obi Wan and Anakin meet. Each of them has as friends Owen and Bail. Anakin saves Padme from something. You stablish what the clone wars are and who is the main bad guy. There can be some other Jedi or creature or funny character, maybe Bail is funny (in a different way Han Solo was)... Maybe a funny villain? Anakin and Padme kiss. All of them together kill the bad guy.

As simple as that.

Doing that will allow you to have all your plot elements covered. That way you can do WHATEVER you want on the second and third movie. Maybe you can make a plot that isnt just an excuse to lead to A New Hope. Maybe something even... ORIGINAL.

There are thousand of action/adventure movies that have a romance between two characters without having them retreat in some romantic place.

Actually, besides the Empire Strikes Back... any other adventure film has the main character get the girl while he is doing the main adventure (Indiana Jones, James Bond...)

I guess, if you want to make it a trilogy, simply make a first movie where they all meet, they all fight some evil, and Anakin gets "Padme" at the end.

LIKE ANY OTHER ADVENTURE MOVIE.

You dont need more "big plot" in the first movie. You shouldnt even have it. If you have all three main characters living an adventure on the first movie, all of them together, helps you stablish that great friendship they have.

Then, on the next two movies you can develop the plot.

If you think about it, Han and Luke almost dont spend any time together during the OT, just on ANH. And they feel more like friends than Obi Wan and Anakin.

The problem with the prequels was that on Episode I, the three main characters didnt interact with each other, and then, by Episode II the three of them where totally different characters!

Its hard to see on the Prequels a shot where you can see Anakin Obiwan and Padme together (besides the beginning of EP2, the Arena, and Mustafar, i cant think of another)

What if Beru is Obi-wan's sister?

I always thought it would be interesting to see some of bit characters from OT have larger roles in the PT... So that when you saw them in the OT, there would be a "cool" moment knowing the history and all.

I think we all hoped that... But at the end, Watto had more screentime than Bail Organa.

Why didnt they leave one of the kids to Watto? Anakin had a closer relationship with Watto than with those farmers he once met.

And maybe the other one to Taun We, or Anakin's old friend Kitster...

Even Padme had a perfect secure and numerous family back on Naboo, they could be kept there. If they are going to randomly distribute the kids to people they barely know...

Another solution would be to put the whole conversation on the Utapau atmosphere, so it wouldnt be as flat. And finally, you have the cool shot of the ship flying away from Utapau, fading to Anakin and Padme. That way you have Obi Wan first finding what to do, and then leaving the planet.

The last shot of the ship flying by would be a good end for that conversation that ends abruptly.

_Bail should be Obi-Wans's friend as Owen should be Anakin's friend

_Jedi Knights shouldnt be an official republic order, with a high council and all that. The Jedi should be like "superheroes". Not everyone believes they exist, they fight for good and freedom but not just as superwarriors, more like leaders and advisors. (Kinda like Gandalf mixed with freemasonry).

_Obi-Wan and Anakin should meet when they are both grown ups. And should be Obi-Wan the one who has hopes for Anakin (not some QuiGon)

_Maybe, the Jedi Knight ObiWan Kenobi who is fighting in the clone wars (like many other jedi did by their own choise) with his friend the Prince Bail Organa, one day finds a young pilot in wich he sees potential for been a great jedi. This young man is Anakin Skywalker, who has a farmer friend called Owen Lars.

_I dont know what part should Palpatine have in the whole war. Maybe he is simply the bad guy (without disguises) that wins the war, just because in some crucial moment Anakin turns to the dark side. So we can keep with the idea of Good vs Evil

And Bail Organa.

I always thougth the best way of doing RETURN OF THE JEDI was doing a pararel story. Kinda like the Godfather 2. After the revelation at the end of ESB it was time to sit and explain what happened in a simple way.

So you would have the main plot for ROTJ (rescuing Han, destroying the Empire, bring anakin back) surrounded by this two stories that would tell a similar story, both of them with a three character relationship (Luke-Han-Leia, Anakin-ObiWan-"Padme"). Both of them having the main character being tempted by Palpatine.

So you would only need to explain the main parts of the "prequel" plot, how ObiWan and Anakin meet during the clone wars, how Anakin marries and finally how he is tempted by the dark side and hates ObiWan (maybe because padme?)

No brother-sister, no ewoks, and more Obi Wan.

EDIT: Oh, and NO Death Star II. Give Palpatine something really evil and powerful. Like some device/holocron/magic wand, that will make him able to control every single being of the galaxy. Something he needs to control by himself and not leave some Tarkin/Vader handle. Something like that would make the whole galaxy to rebel against him, so it wont be just the alliance vs the empire, it would be good vs evil again.

Whatever you do, please, please, please, do not reintroduce the "Birth of the rebelion" and "Yoda lands on Dagobah" scenes just because they are there, since we all agree that there is no need to explain everything.

I guess, besides any changes that you might want to do, the four main "scenes" that need to be reedited are the coruscant battle, the confrontation between obiwan and grievous, the whole mace windu palpatine anakin and the whole final battle (padme and anakin, yoda and sidious and obiwan anakin)

I guess those 4 scenes are the ones that are most poorly directed, because they are long, distracting, or because George Lucas forgot what the point of the scenes were and got distracted with background robots and special effects.

Im usually against everything, but i liked the Bespin 3D matte painting.

On the new Bespin sky, if you change to that sky you have to change the sky on the interior of the set (where han and leia are talking about c3po). Its a very pale sky without clouds.

Also i realised in that shot the roof doesnt look like the one that we see from outside. From outside it looks like a high double roof, and from inside it looks much more simpler.

Also, from inside you can notice some blueish reflection from the bluescreen on the middle of the roof window.

You harly see the reflection but its there.(ady will say: all these will be downgraded when the PT:R comes)

Besides the perspective in ESB is a bit weird so the reflection is not all the time in the glass. Vader is overlap most of the glass area too.(Ady will say: No need to add any reflection, the focus in on the characters and too much work.) :P

There ARE lots of digital lights and reflections on the prequels that feel distracting. Like the lightsaber light on yoda's face and clothes (when the lightsaber doesnt light anybody else) or the light of the blasters every time clone troopers shoot. All those things made them look more CG than real.

Thats why im against lightning any real character or surface with the lightsaber (unless it MEANS something or the light is there for a dramatic reason)

I never liked that Dagobah's background was always changing its look, felt like the mattepaintings where drawn by different people on each scene (Also, it looked very different when there was no background, just the smoke on the set)

But i liked how Dagobah almost always feels like the "sky" is dark and the land is white. Feels like the trees grow from the sky and "grab" the land with their roots. Also it gives that heavy atmosphere.

So i agree Dagobah would need a change on its backgrounds to tie them with each other, but i dont really like Angel's concepts, they look like King Kong jungle. Also, seems like you are running out of trees :) both images have the same trees on the background.

Sice EP1 is hard to find a fan film without a "cool" lightsaber fight and without the Duel of the Fates.

Nobody uses a good blaster anymore and nobody seems to care who is The best pilot in the galaxy (Just imagine trying to sell the "Shadows of the Empire videogame" or the "X-Wing series" now)

Also, since the EP1 was so childishly funny, there is no more humor/cheer on Star Wars.

For some reason i feel like im always against all the changes... But I liked the ion cannon in the middle of nowhere, it feels like it is hidden, like the rest of the rebel base. If you make the rebel base visible from that far isnt as hidden as it should be.

But i like that the sky fits more with the light/shadow than the original background.
