Brazilian SW is beyond dreadful. It's one of the few movies i own which i'll NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER watch again. it's just... uuug... i have a headache just thinking about it.

The one interesting thing about the movie though is that suppostedly LucasFilm did sue the production company for copyright infringement. I can't remember where i read it but Brazilian SW came out a few months before SW opened and that was the reason for the litigation.

Slowly the SW ripoff movies are making their ways to trrent trackers. Turkish has been around since the beginning and recently one of the Italian ones made it to thepiratebay, so is Brazilian SW makes it there, ce la vie. Yes it technically illegal, but i don't think the anyone except the people who watch the movie will complain.

you've been warned, you'll want those 80 minutes of your life back.... and don't eat the 'fruit'.

You've actually seen it? Cool.

I belive they threatened to sue but did not for some reason I don't remember now. It was not supposed to be a ripoff but a "spoof", cleary stating that the source of the spoof is SW. It was made in mid 1978, but considering that SW was released here in christmas '77, not much time after the release.

I will try to get the DVD though. I MUST own a copy of the worse movie EVER produced. I'm not even sure I could call it a movie.

What is your gas at?

*sigh* Well I KNOW that a car can't run on a fuel it wasn't meant to. What I mean is, how come the US dosen't sell both ALTERNATIVE FUELS and ALTERNATIVE CARS? We do. The UK does. Some other countries do. Germany does.

And ok, even if we agree with some people that say that petrol dosen't polute as much as scientists say it does, and that it will never end, must we keep burning one of the most expensive things around (petrol) to drag around our 1 and a half ton cars? Dosen't make more sense to have other alternatives?

Not only that, cars powered by anything else are rare and normally quite expensive. If we had alternatives, we'd use them. But we don't.

If you don't have alternatives, it's because you guys don't want to. If we, this crappy third world country (I'm NOT being ironic, I know what we are) were able to develop two cheap alternatives (and currently working on 2 other, hydrogen cells and this vegetable oil), why can't the US? Or the rest of the world? Maybe some people don't want to?

I don't think Bush is a racist per se, like a KKK one. But there was this time when he met our president and asked if we also had "black people" (look I'm not sure what term he used, but it was a political correct one) in Brazil. Our president was literally speechless.

He is misinformed probably, but not really a racist.

I've seen this issue not of white and black people thing, but a rich and poor people thing. Poor people were left behind, there were white folks there too. It's not a race thing at all.

We here have two alternative fuels for cars. One is methanol (called plainly alcohool here), which costs about half of what regular petrol does. It was developed here during the oil crisis of the 70s. There are few cars equiped to run only on methanol, but there are lots of cars with engines capable of running on both regular petrol and methanol, and even at the same time...

The other would be propane or butane or other gas (not gas as gasoline, but "gas" gas). It's quite cheap, you can run 100 miles with 5 dollars of it. Some cars are also adapted to run on both. Problem is, it's expensive to turn your car into one of those, and it takes out the space in your trunk. Most of the cars that run on this kind of fuel are taxi cabs, but there are some people who have those on their own cars, I know a few who do.

Now, my question is: where you live, is there an alternative source of fuel? Now, for those conservatives who say "screw the nature I wanna burn some petrol and polute the world", I say that I'm asking this not because of the environment issues, which I know you don't care about, but based on the PRICE of fuel these days. The two alternatives are cheaper than regular petrol, are there any alternatives?

(Of course, there's also diesel, but I don't remember how much it costs)

Now, I've read 3 different reviews for the Turkish ET, and I've almost had a heart atack from trying to refrain to laugh out loud at the office. I MUST see this one...

Question: is it OK if I get the "brazillian SW" (Os Trapalhoes na Guerra dos Planetas) and rip it and put it on a torrent just for you guys? I mean, it's VERY unavailable over there (I'm not even sure if I'll find it here). Note that I'm only asking if it's OK, so it dosen't really break the forum rules about copying films and such. I just think you guys should watch it - it IS the WORSE movie ever made by FAR.

Oh, cool, nice, I didn't know. For one second I thought Fred Flintstone there was overreacting or something.

INT Super Star Destroyer

Needa: Lord Vader, we have no signal of the Milenium Falcon. We seem to have lost it.

Vader: Idiot! You will pay for your incompetence with your life. I will use my force to kill you know, until you die a horrible death.

Needa: But I beg of you, Lord Vader, spare my life. We shall double, or let me dare say, triple our efforts to find the Milenium Falcon. It can't be too far. A ship that small cannot have a cloaking device. So it must be nearby, we just can't see it. Or maybe it crashed against our ship and we didn't even noticed. Perhaps they are dead by now, and if they are, I apoligize. Deeply. As I know you wanted them alive. But why? Why would you want them alive? They don't have any information we might need. Also, the second death star is being built, and according to the emperor, our plan to destroy the rebels cannot fail. And yet, you want those specific rebels, and the princess Leia. Do you have a trap in mind?

Vader: My plans concern me and the emperor only. I wasn't really going to kill you because of your lack of competence, or should I say INcompetence, but now that you've said too much in too little time I have no choice but letting this droid kill you.

Needa: No!

Droid: Okee-Okee! (shoots Needa)

Needa: (dying) I'm... so sorry... (dies, colapses)

Vader: Apologies accepted, captain Needa.

(Everyone around applaudes)

The Mace Windu Debate
Time
I'm not sure how much we can take about the novelizations being canon, after all some novelizations contradict what is in the movies, specially the OT novelizations. I know that Lucasfilm recently changed their position on this, claiming that if a book has a minor contradiction over the films, the book (or videogame or comic book or tv show) shouldn't be ignored, only that small contradicting fact. Right?

About Mace: well, to me, he was unconscious when he falled, and therefore he died. When a Jedi falls from a great high, he must be absolutely focused and concentrated on what he is doing and where is he falling - take the AOTC Coruscant chase as an example of that. So, if Mace was even a bit distracted - let alone unconcious - there was no way he could have survived. Maybe GL should have made it more explicit, by either having Anakin cut though his guts with his lightsaber, or showing Mace's fall, or even showing him hitting a huge flying truck as he falled through the window.

One thing that always bothered me about characters falling down on the PT is the recue of Palpatine in ROTS... I mean, ok he was a sith lord and whatever, but he was "supposed" to be this old man with no proper phisical training, could have he done what he did, like falling down from the elevator shaft and getting up unharmed?

If you're getting into the area to cover it, bring some damn food and water to share while you're at it. Don't just take pictures of people dying, do something to help them. These are your fellow citizens who granted you that first amendment. Journalistic ethics my ass -- what's ethical about a policy of non-involvement when fellow citizens are dying in front of your very eyes?

Here the problem with what you ask. If the media people drop their cameras and etc to help these people, they can't cover it. And then we will have no idea what's going on down there. Also it is a question of ethics once you get involved, how can you give non biased coverage? Tell me without the media covering this, do you think as many people would be giving blood and donating food, water and supplies? I doubt it. Unless there is no other way, the media should stay out of it and give non biased coverage. It is important we are able to stay informed about the situation. If however someone is going to die and there is no one else around who can help and no other way, then they should give assistance.

I think the media is helping by showing the world what's going on. Otherwise, it wouldn't have as much impact and people wouldn't donate money. If it wasn't for the media reporting, those people would still be waiting for help that would probably never come at all. Also, some news persons are actually doing some work there and helping people out. A local reporter who is based in the US was sent to New Orleans to report it, and he interviewd this woman who was under a bridge, crying. She said their family was still at home, but she couldn't reach them, and they couldn't reach her. So the reporter got her into the news van, they went there with an improvised boat and found her family, got back with all of them, got all of them into the news van and drove to some place else. Of course it was done in a journalistic way, but it actually helped someone.

Yes but, it's more profitable to make a cheaper, bad film costing less to produce and having the same ticket sale. You see, they have perfected the film industry in a way that they do the movie as cheap as possible getting as much money as possible, maximizing the profit. If they spend too much, their profit won't be as good, if they spend too little no one will see the movie. Every industry works like that, maximizing profits based on the variables you have, such as production cost, shipment cost, marketing, and so on...
