Chaltab, I don't speak much spanish, but I do know a little bit. What I belive you tried to say was something like "I don't like the McDonalds' french fries. They are not good, they are not good looking. They are very bad."

But I belive the sentence is not correct. I belive you should have said "las papas fritas", although I could be mistaken. The same way, it should've been "no son buenAs". Now, "guapo" is more close to being "handsome", but I don't know exactly what you meant, and I don't know all the meanings for that word.

But again, I'm not good with any language at all... I can't speak english, não falo português, yo no hablo español, nihongo o hanasemasen, no parlo italiano, je nez parlez francais, and so on...

Awesome Rock Bands
Time
Well, I'm more of a prog-rock, alternative and indie rock fan, I don't like metal or grunge or punk or anything of the sort.

So I enjoy:

Pink Floyd
Yes
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Radiohead
Beatles
Queen
Neutral Milk Hotel

Also local and overseas prog-rock bands: Mutantes, Som Nosso de Cada Dia, O Terço, Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, Equilibrio Vital

My favorite characters were the ones voiced by the late Phil Hartman, Lionel Hutz and Troy McLure.

I don't remember the exact quotes, but they are something like...

"Hi I am Troy McLure. You might remember me from educational films such as 'Smoke youself thin' or 'Get condifent, stupid!' "

"Why are you burning documents Mr. Hutz?"
"The man known as Lionel Hutz is no more, children. Say hello to Miguel Sanchez!"

"Mr. Hutz are you aware that you are not wearing any pants?!"
"Gah!"

"Well, I didn't win the case. Here's your free pizza."
"But we won!"
"That's ok, the box is empty."

LOL!

And he didn't die of starvation or thirst during all those years... Aparently it rained directly into his mouth, and little fishes jumped out of the water and into his mouth, going directly to his stomach, feeding him. And then, he woke up years later, completely unharmed, and with no sign of atrophy... This had some psychological consequences, though. He started talking to a VOLLEY ball stained with his own blood. I sure hope he was not having sex with it too.

The clones are not imaginary. I'm currently working on a deal with Re-Pet, the pet clonning service, to sell us the technological know-how to perform such clonings, but for humans. Should be the same thing, as humans ARE animals after all. I was considering taking a trip to Kamino in order to make a deal with them, but the map I have didn't show up this planet, maybe someone erased, I don't know. Anyway, the plan is: if you die in a mission, we'll make a clone out of you, and send it into a trip near the speed of light, so it gets older fast. Or are we the ones getting old faster? I can't remember. Okay, anyway, we'll give him a brief synopsis of who he is and what is he supposed to be doing (since there's NO way w can transfer your mind into the clone), and send him into the mission, so he can carry on.

So I belive that when it moves from beta into gold, production version, the posts that we post for testing will be deleted, right? Because I intend to do some nonsense posts to help testing it.

Also, will the beta have our usernames and passwords? If so, it's better if no one here changes their password afterwards, or else the two databases will be unsynchronized.

Chaltab: Ouch. Hope you are OK. By the way, how is your father going? Got himself recovered - as much as he could at least? Hope so...

Things I hate: Daylight Saving Time. We are going to enter daylight saving time next week, and the US is getting out, so what was before 1 hour difference will now be 3, and since I work directly with people from Ohio, things are going to get ugly now...

Episode I - Manga Comic.

Manga is generally released in a mirrored way over there? Over here, most comics are right to left, because of purists and as a commercial gimmick, sort of like"ohh, look, it's opposite" - but mostly to keep faithful to the original, sometimes the contract made with the japanese publisher asks for it to be published this way (when I grab some "ocidental" comic book I sometimes forget about it and look at the last page first).

Then again, if the text isn't still in Japanese...I dunno. I'd definitely expect a comic to read 'backwards' if it was still in Japanese, but if it's been translated, well...wouldn't that include translating the format?

I mean, I'd get a kick out of a right-to-left comic, and I've got tonnes of Japanese Dragonball comics at home, but isn't that the point of translating and yada yada yada?

Manga here is translated, but not altered. While there has been reversed manga released here until the mid 90s (Akira was such a case), nowadays there is no manga released in such way, they are all in the original right to left form. The translation is only on the dialogue areas, keeping the ocidental reading only WiTHING those areas. So you would read a dialogue, and move to the left, and read the other one. When this might get confusing or ambiguous (very rare), the text is written up to down. Sounds and text written on walls or props or whatever are not translated directly, instead a translation is put in small prints bellow the panel.

This whole thing started back in the mid 90s, when Dragon Ball was re-relased. Tired of seeing his job buthcered, he ordered to keep the original form and not to translate non-dialogue text, keeping the kanji-hiragana-katakana. This was deemed as a commercial suicide by publishers here, and they expected no sales, but went foward with the release anyway, promoting it as a commercial gimick ("See! The Dragon Ball manga the way it was supposed to be read!"), and the whole thing was a huge success. There was some original right to left manga back then, but it was not so popular. After Dragon Ball, every single manga publisher decided to do the same (except for Slayers, which keeps the right to left but butchers the art and censors some stuff). There was even a book, the Kenshin Kaden, which is the official guide to Rurouni Kenshin, which was released to read from right to left. Some local made "manga" are from right to left. The whole thing has become part of our comic book culture.

At the same time, american comic books, which dominated the whole market, started to fade away. Now only graphic novels, and a few publications by Marvel, DC, and Spawn are released, in a very limited distribution.

I remember exactly 10 years ago when I was talking with a then famous anime and manga critic (and comic book writer), and he told me how he wished the publishers would stop being cheap bastards, buying stuff pre-made from Japan and the US and started doing the REAL stuff and doing some local comic books... While there has been some good publications (specially in the adult comics area), things are pretty slow...

And while this whole thing might have sounded a but off-topic, I say I kept within the topic, which was manga related...

A new quote for Lucas...
Time
A good move would be to call up George Lucas to host some award cerimony, and add some quotes to the telepronpter, such as his own quote from originaltrilogy default page, or this one. And when he realizes what is going on he would stop, embarassed and angered, and would walk away, while people boo. There would be a minor media frenzy, and thanks to that, he would be forced to release the O-OT.
