It revolved around a group of teen-agers being recruited to pilot 5 robotic lions that could join to form a giant robot and fight the forces of a guy named Prince Lo-tor and his evil witch. Very cool, however after the second season they came out with a different version that was much more Asian (it just didn't "work" for American audiences) and it didn't last much longer than that.

Isn't Battle of the Planets that one in which they dressed like birds or something?

I have done this several times. It's great, because it combines my favorite movie AND my favorite song (excluding classical pieces).

LOL Oh God... Chaltab, the worse part is, I'm not sure if you are serious or not!

While 2001 might be difficult to comprehend, and some might not like it at all, I don't see it as boring or slow-paced. It's not that long, and perhaps the only true slow parts are the landing on the moon and Dave changing the antenna equipament on space. I never sensed it as slow or boring, and it's not that hard to watch it - hell, I've seen it dozens of times... Also, be aware that Kubrick has cut a lot of footage after the premiere (about 20 minutes) which are now sadly lost, to make the film run faster - I'd sell my SOUL to see those lost trims again!

Turkish Star Wars
Time
Ah, lemme ressucitate this thread for a while, yes?

Now, I KNOW it is against the forum rules to discuss torrents and other illegal ways of propagating piracy films, but since the turkish films such as turkish et, turkish star wars and turkish exorcist are VERY, VERY unavailable here, and I really wanted to see those films, I was wondering if there was any place I could get those. I've seen those on sale on "5 minutes to live" but after seeing their website, I don't really trust them to pay 20 bucks for each DVD. So anyone got any clues of how can I get those? I am willing to send 15 bucks to the producers in turkey to compensate them, since there's absolutely no way of getting those films (if they still have a listed address, that is...!).

I tried to get that torrent trhough the website Ell the Ewok mentioned, but I was not able to sign up.

If such discussion is not allowed please let me know...

Carrie Fisher should turn her AFI speech into a standup act!

I KNOW she said it. I was just saying what I would change to use that material as a short stand up routine. If she losed that repeated joke ("And now, sixty-five years later"), and added a few more laughes at the middle, and tuned up a bit the timing, she could present that at a stand up routine... Perhaps at the "Just for Laughs" festival in Montreal! Lots of non-comediants doing bits like these...

This statement has inspired me to create a function in the new forum software that will allow me to highlight a specific post as "dumbest post in the thread".

I was just kidding and exagerating. I have seen only 3 star trek movies, the first one, khan, and the fourth one. While the three are highly better than TPM and AOTC, I am not a Star Trek fan at all, and in fact do not like the series. I do prefer watching the first Star Trek movie than any of the prequels, but not based on Star Wars or Stra Trek issues, but on better movie versus worse movie thing.

I do tend to have a ratio of 10% of dumb posts though, which is not enough to be called a troll, but enough to be annoying. So I'll probably be the king of "dumbest posts in thread".

Now THAT I wasn't kidding about. 2001 is probably my favorite movie of all, and Kubrick's film IS better than any of George's, you gota tive in to that...

does anyone know exaxtly how long the simpsons has been on t.v., I mean theres tons of seasons and new episodes all the time. When did the first tracy ullman shorts come out?

The show has been on it's own since 1989. Not sure how long it was on Ullman prior to that. So I guess that makes it 17 seasons counting the current run. I think they'll be up around 390 episodes when this season's over. Looooong run. Too bad the last 200 have all s#cked.

I belive it was shown as small short sequences on Tracy Ullman from 1987 to 1989, and from 1989 as the series we know. It's VERY weird to watch a first season episode, which focus on a klasky-csupo-esque family satire realistic comedy, and watch a recent episode which focus on surrealist gag comedy...

This Movie must be stopped!!!!
Time
I walked by this multiplex theater yesterday, and stoped to see the movies on... and there was nothing good, nothing worth of paying to see, I just couldnt belive how bad movies are nowadays... Maybe it's because it's not summer nor xmas season, but still...

Also, I wanted to see "Good night, and Good Luck", but this movie was shown here at ONE theater, only ONE night only! Sad to see how good movies are treated like that, and crappy flicks such as Doom get 500 screens...

Hey, some of the best monologues are created by taking other people's parts out and combining things together. I find it very fun to cut monologues to fit a time length or transform a dialogue to a monologue, if I can pull it off. It just makes the work seem that much more your own, and it almost guarantees that if someone else does use the same monologue in an audition that it's not going to be the same cut.

And thanks again, ric. Good stand-up comics are definitely a joy. We have an improv troupe at my school that I've thought about joining if I'm not too busy. But they do stand-up as well.

By transforming a dialogue into a monologue, would you plainly describe the conversation, like someone saying "and then he told me...", or play both parts? Jonh Leguizamo used to do this play in which he played several different characters all by himself, it was interesting.

I was part once of this teathrical group that did improv, I was the youngest there... But then they wanted to do political satyre plays and go away from the wacky improv comedy so I decided not to be part of that anymore.

I congratulate both you, Gaffer Tape, and Nanner Split. Performing monologues is VERY difficult, and it amazes me that we have such brilliant performers here who can pull it off. Just... don't overact, like this old actor and theater director over here (he is a mix between Andy Warhol, Yoko Ono, Neil Simon and Daffy Duck), he acts and directs this bizarre post-modern performatic plays, and for some time he used to perform this 4 hour complex dramatic monologue, and after performing it so many times he eventually got completely insane.
