There was a Phantom Menace pinball table some time ago, that was pretty neat, did you guys see that?

I absolutely loved that pinball game. The one that had the interactive video game screen in the back of it?

Also, there was an arcade podracer game where you sat i nthe pod and actually used the dual sticks to steer, like in the movie. Anybody else remember this one?

Yes exactly, that was the one pinball machine. It's very neat.

I did play that arcade podracer on the very same day I've played the Phantom Menace pinball. I had my little "Anakin" moment that day at the arcades

I have also played that Data East Star Wars pinball machine. I belive I still own a local videogame magazine from about 1992 or 1993 with 4 pages dedicated to that pinball...

A More Elegant Weapon, a More Civilized Age
Time
The whole reason for the sabre fight is, of course, the action and the need to add some drama into the third act of the film, so the fall of Anakin is more... dramatic. It's not a realistic fight and I never expect it to be, it's like kung fu films, it's choreographed for the movie screen, it's not a real, authentic fight.

About the song on "ytmnd": I much prefer the MECO disco version of the Star Wars song!

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time
Allow me to ressucitate this thread to make a comment about a very nice game for the Playstation 2, called Shadow of the Colossus. My brother got it for xmas/birthday cant remember (near each other), and I was watching him play it, it's amazing! It was voted game of the year. Basically you hunt down these HUGE monsters (there are 16 of them), and literally climb them to kill them, it's amazing... The first time I saw the game, the character climbing the huge collosus to fight it, I thought it was a CGI cut-scene. Second best game of 2005, the best being Mario Kart DS. I've played a little bit of Shadow of the Colossus, up to the fourth monster, and it's quite fun, although it can be frustrating sometimes. It reminded me of those old Harold Lloyd films (although most people here won't get that reference).

On the flip side I bought my wife a laser printer/copier/scanner to help with her school work. She's a teacher and needs to do so much printing and copying it's ridiculous...

And, let me guess, like most school districts, they won't foot the bill for all her copying, will they? Not surprised at all.

You mean, teachers pay for the copy themselves?

Also, who can forget those EPIC fights with the chicken? That rules. They interviewed one of the writers on the local radio station here about a month ago. He said they just kind of threw in the first one as a lark, but got such a large reaction from the audience that they decided to do it again.

I have seen only the first fight, that was amazing, it was supposed to be just a small daydream-esqe joke, but it never ended, it went on and on!

Family Guy

My favorite scene from Family Guy is when Peter's son remembers the time Peter hit a deer with his car, something like:

(Two cars stoped at a road, Peter and a talking Deer are looking at the cars)

Peter: "It's only a small scratch I don't see any reason to get the insurance."
Deer: "Yes but I still want to get your record file..."
Peter: "But it's not even..."
Deer: "I know I know I just feel more secure if I have your record."

Hey, Ric, by the way, I now have a wireless router at my house. If you want to play Mario Kart DS online any time, I'm game!

And thanks for the help.

Oh, did it work?

I don't have a wireless connection at home, but I will next month, as I'll buy the wi-fi connector. I can also go to someplace ear that has a wi-fi though. I can play on weekend afternoons. Keep in mind that EST time and Brazil are 3 hours apart at this time of the year.
