Then you haven't seen Polish ROTJ poster yet

Hmnnn... no, this threepio one is scarier. Show this poster suddenly to a seven year old at night, shaking it and saying "booooooo!" and I guarantee he or she will not sleep that night.

OK let me share with you the names of the films in portuguese.

Star Wars - Guerra nas Estrelas (literally "War in the Stars" - there's no way to translate the sentence "star wars" into portuguese)
A New Hope - Uma Nova Esperança (literally "A New Hope")
The Empire Strikes Back - O Império Contra-Ataca (literally "The Empire atacks/strikes back")
Return of the Jedi - O Retorno de Jedi (literally "The Return of (a) Jedi")

The Phantom Menace - A Ameaça Fantasma (literally "The Ghostly Threat" - there's no equivalent of "phantom" in portuguese)
Atack of the Clones - O Ataque dos Clones (literally "The Atack of the Clones")
Revenge of the Sith - A Vingança dos Sith (literally "The Revenge of the Sith")

Anomalous phenomenon thread
Time
Wow talk about thread ressurection, eh...

Being obsessive and neurotic about plane crashes and reading all about them, I have read about this flight and the supposed hauting by the people who died on it.

But I am extremely skeptic about these incidents. The witness are often vague and contradicting, and delirium can often happen on airplanes. I've known someone who has worked for a major airline, and that person told me how pilots would often get literally insane for flying so much time, and being under a low-air-preassure environment all this time. This is something airliners don't usually say, but nervous breakdowns, delirium and insanity often happens to those professionals. On the airliner this person used to work, one day the pilot decided to take all his clothes off and walk around the airport...

So, although I belive on some anomalous phenomenons, I tend to discard this one.

I hate business travels that absolutely F***K my personal life and my plans. To all you kids out there who are still planning their carreers and what course to take on college: stay AWAY from anything computer-related. It's an evil business that will consume your will to live and turn you into a mindless, heartless zombie. Please do pick something art-related.

Oscar Night...
Time
Since I had a plane to catch early and last night was staying in a place with literally no TV, for the first time in 15 years, I did not watch one single second of the academy awards. The next day I found out that Crash had one, when we all knew Brokeback Mountain had it on its pocket. Oh well. Guess I'll have to see Crash someday.

Now, I do belive Woody Allen's Match Point should have won best original screenplay, I watched that movie yesterday and wow... brilliant. But then again I remember it was Woody Allen, who is a genius (ONLY on doing films), and he did not deserve that award because although the movie writting was brilliant, it was average on Woody Allen's level.

Really? I wish they didn't clap at all, but in a way that it would be clear that it was not something like a deliberated joke about the prequels. I wish she really bombed there. Why didn't she say "you guys remember me from Closer and Vendetta and" other movies?

Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat

They'd have all their special moves intact, but they would also play by Street Fighter rules and all be unique instead of clones like they were in the first four games.

While the SNK characters were somewhat easy to blend with the Stree Fighter ones - although Capcom had to re-animate the whole SNK characters so it wouldn't look weird - it wouldn't be possible with Mortal Kombat. Apart from the 3D ones, the characters were always actors filmed. Also, the game play is not very similar with Street Fighter - would you imagine a SF character doing a Finish Him or a Mortal Kombat character doing one of those combos?

Neither. I prefered the SNK figting games, as the King of Fighters series, the best being 96, the arcade version. Ah, I remember I got my thumbs red from playing that game on the arcade.

And I also had some good moments playing Mortal Kombat 2 on my friends Genesis when I went into his home to do math homeworks and watch my Beavis and Butthead tapes, back in 94.

But, I'm not going to be an hypocrite here, the best 2d figting game ever is SNK vs Capcon 2. So.... between the 2.... I gotta pick Street Fighter.

This was the answer:

Good question! We consulted Neil Davison, Project Coordinator of the Non-Lethal Weapons Research Project, at the Centre for Conflict Resolution (University of Bradford). He tells us: "I think this is a sci-fi cliché that will remain sci-fi. However, weapons that can be set to 'pain' instead of 'kill' are on the way. One US military prototype, the Active Denial System, projects a beam of energy that heats up the skin of the victim, causing a painful burning sensation. Another development project aims to use lasers to stimulate pain receptors in the skin. Either way it would be a far cry from the sort of harmless "stun" seen in Star Trek. Being on the receiving end would be very painful and could leave lasting damage."

Otherwise princess Leia would be killed in the first 10 minutes of Star Wars.

"There she is. Set for stun."
"There's no stun on this gun!"
"Oh, just, bloody shoot her!"
* Leia dies *

Deep south in Brazil (take the Brazil map, look at the bottom of it, that's the place). Going on monday. Three weeks. Had doctor appointment, took me 2 weeks to schedule - cancelled; I was going to a meeting to see about my master degree, cancelled; a whole other personal stuff I had, cancelled.

Guys, never take a job in which you have to travel aimlessly around. You end up with no personal life.

The good thing is I can always post on OT.com wherever I am

My favorites are on 2001, although Kubrick was a perfeccionist, there are several mistakes.

* A flying pen that floats around spinning, it should be spinning around it's own gravity center, the middle of the pen.

* A food tray that floats in a zigzag pattern

* People weighting the same on the moon

* Stars passing by a ship as it travels space, even though they are millions of miles away (they should remain still)
