OK, things I hate: Oracle.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/041213/photos_ts/mdf793913

Oracle bought PeopleSoft, the company I (indirectly) work for, and is planning to destroy it so only Oracle ERPs are sold. They will discontinue PeopleSoft's products. So next year, with the release of MicroSoft'S ERPs and this move by Oracle, I'm predicting that companies all around the world will get VERY, VERY inneficient.

By the way, if anyone wants my resume I'd gladly send it, because thanks to Oracle and to the bastards at PeopleSoft who sold it, I might be our of job soon. My resume consists only of a picture of me dressed as a nerd in front of a computer, I thought that would impress technology companies more than a real resume.

Creepy! I swear, I was silently singing the yub yub song right now, I don't know why, and not paying attention to this page, just scrolling down, and suddenly I see a "DIE EWOKS" poster

(ps Yeah I know it's German)

EDIT: more creepyness, you posted the lyrics above, I haven't seen it. But I was singing the yub yub song according to me and my friends version, where we put portuguese words that sound close to what's said, with amusing yet untranslatable results.

First, about the japanese. Yes, they have commited terrible atrocities, but almost every country which has or ever had an army did. And the view on the nazis is more of an alegorical one, they are present day demons. They were the leading cause of WW2. And tell me, don't you get a little bit shocked with a Vientam videogame?

About the violence you mentioned. Now, there's two distinct things, grpahical violence onscreen and the portrait of violence. I can handle gore and graphic violence pretty well, and even JFK's blowing head on that "jfk reloaded" game wouldn't botter me at all... if it wasn't JFK there. One thing is killing fictional characters, another completly different is the portrait of a real human being who has actually died, and now has become a joke. Think about movies for a second. One thing is seeing a gangster movie with a ficional character shooting another. If the scene portraits a real event envolving people who were not related to the violence itself but suffered from it, people who deserve respect, that's a whole other thing. Another example: let's get Half Life 2, not too violent but featuring some blood, death and gun related violence. Half Life 2 is set in City 17 and you kill pseudo alien soldiers called Combine, who remain faceless throughtout the game. Now imagine the very same game set in Poland 1939, with you as a nazi soldier and the enemy as jews. Get it? It's not the violence, it's the content behind it.

Jokes thread : Reloaded
Time
OK folks here comes another joke. This one's rated NC-17, so if you're not in the mood for this, or not old enough, please skip this post. I'll try to do my best at translating this one - it sounds better in portuguese.

There was this guy who worked in a sausage factory, and every day when he got back home his wife felt that there was something wrong with him, he seemed depressed. One day his wife asked him what was wrong, and he replied:

"Well, honey, the thing is... I didn't want to tell you this, but everyday at the factory I feel this gigantic urge to insert my penis in the sausage cutter...."

"What?! What are you saying?!", replied his wife, horrified, "You need professional help at once. You'll start seeing a psychiatrist tomorrow."

And he did seek professional help, and after a while he seemed to have overcome his urge, and, for his wife releaf, he was back to normal. But some months later he came home really, really depressed.

"What happened, dear?", asked his wife.

"I got fired today...", he said.

"Why?!"

"Well... I couldn't control myself... and I inserted my penis on the sausage cutter."

"WHAT?! But... are you ok?! What did the sausage cutter do to you?!"

"Oh they fired him too, but he was very gentle to me."

(laugh track here)

It's a delicate issue. Nazis are portraid by the media as insane, ultra-evil people who are better off dead and we shouldn't even think twice before killing one of them - I mean, look at the Indiana Jones movies. Japanese soldiers are hardly portraided like this, mostly because they didn't have a direct participation in the holocaust. Also adds to this the hiroshima and nagasaki bombings, and the fact that the Japanese seemed more "open" and "friendly" outside war times. It's a little bit shocking to play a videogame where what you have to kill isn't a: a) nazis, b) fictional evil criminous people, c) aliens, or d) a fictional faceless evil nazi-like army. That's why I don't get shocked with WW2 nazi-related war games, but a Vietnam game shocks me completly - I don't know why people would play a game set in the Vietnam war.

Lucasfilm acknowledging fan hate
Time
Look, the thing is, unless there's this HUGE FANTASTIC MINDBLOWING GENIUS twist ending at Episode 3, that explains EVERYTHING and makes every fan happy with everything GL did, which I DON'T think will happen as not even Hitchcock could pull this one, we will leave VERY frustraded at the theaters. STILL... episode 3 might be the best one of the prequels, but that's like saying being shot in the head by a loved one in a psychedelic mirror maze is the best of all deaths, it's still not a good thing, you know.

The Star Wars Kid...
Time
* UH... COULD BE A SPOILER I GUESS *

N'sync and the Star Wars Kid will meet Yoda mounted at the back of Chewbacca, and they'll start a farting contest, Yoda shall be the victorious. "I don't belive it!", they'll say. "That's why you've all failed! Pull my finger, you will, eh? He he he... ". Jar Jar will be killed by a small, protoype version of the Death Star, Darth Maul will be revealed as being Grievious, and Palpatine is not Darth Sidious, but uh... someone else. Han Solo's father, maybe. Or maybe... he's Blofeld! "So, Mr. Bond, we meet again. I must ask you to join me on the dark side, or I'll have this slow-moving laser cutt you in half."

Half Life 2
Time
I bought it about 2 weeks ago, on a saturday, and I had finished it by sunday, took me only 12 hours... But it's one of the greatest games I've played. Too bad it requires a directx9 complient graphic card, and mine has a mix between 7 and 8 (geforce4 mx420, bought it 2 years ago). But it looks very nice on my computer. I friend of mine bought it, and he was able to play it on a 700mhz with a 64m directx 7 graphic card and 384 ram. I'm not sure HOW he was able to do it, but...

Hey, I challenge anyone here for a match on Half Life2 Deathmatch!

I think games should follow the "comedy killer" rule: can you do a joke about a certain topic without completely offending an audience? If you can, than you might do a game about it.

You can make a joke about Hitler being anally raped and killed, so you can do a game about it.
You can't do a joke about the challenger explosion, so you can't make a game out of it.

But I do belive that JFK reloaded softwarehouse, Traffic, might release a 9-11 version to show that it was indeed possible to fly those planes, and that there was no conspiracy on it.
