So I suppose it's the browser itself, some features such as javascript and pop-up windows are disabled. I could help you enabling them or finding a solution for this, but I rather not, it could get you in trouble or something... You could go to your boss and tell him/her your productivity is decreasing since you cannot access originaltrilogy forum's full features. Explain how cool this website is and convince your boss to sign the petition. You'll either get what you want or lose your job in a hilarious way.

Dosen't make sense at all, because the PM services here at this forum are web-based, therefore uses the HTTP port (80), at most the SSL 443 port, or 8080 I don't know, but I don't think there's a security socket layer for these messages... So if you can see this forum you should be able to send PM messages as well. Perhaps your net has url-based filters? Could be the most logical explanation.\

By the way, changing subject drastically, I managed to make yet another pizza with the pizza stone, and this time it worked. I followed every single instruction on the box literally, and what the heck, it worked. I'm sure it would taste no different if I had used any other thing, but what the heck, at least I've used my pizza stone successfully. Took me months to find the God damn thing might as well use it, right?

Help from Ric...looking for a song title

It definitly made me realise I take my life for granted way to often.

Anyway. Sorry for the off topic post...

Yes I did see that movie. Yes, that's what happens in some places such as Rio de Janeiro's poor neighborhoods - you will not find that on the streets or in every city, you would have to be in the WRONG place at the WRONG time to find those kinds of people.

About 25% of the movie's violence is overreacted, ridiculously ultra-violent for dramatic porpouses or fictional, they were way too young for the people they were supposed to be impersonating, and the whole time frame is wrong (the kids age only 6 or 7 years in a +15 year timeframe the movie shows - from mid 60s to early 80s). Also, native speakers notice how the characters speak in a way people did not speak back in the 60s or 70s, they use recent slang sometimes, mostly because the movie's dialogue is mostly ad-libed.

Brazil is a country of opposite, distinct contrasts. In places like Rio you may find the life portraited in City of God (not as cliched and Tarantino-esque though) and half a mile away you may find rich people playing golf.

But I guess you are right about taking things for granted. If your kids ever complain they don't have enough toys or a car or a new CD player, show them this movie.

Unfortunally, the trend now in Brazil is to do real violence-related Tarantino-esque films. Every year there are at least 2 new movies like this one. My favorite local movie is, still, the absolutely non-violent Boleiros, about football (soccer), which is, also unfortunally, absolutely untranslatable and impossible to sell internationally.

The top 10 places for George to insert a Jar Jar death scene in the OT
Time
Before we see the droids getting into Tatooine in ANH, we see their escape pod getting into the Tatooine atmosphere.

C3PO: "Oh, this is madness! We are going to crash!"
ARTOO: beeep beeep bep beeep
C3PO: "What do you mean, you have calculated for us to land on something that will ease our fall?"
ARTOO: beeep beeep
C3PO:"I hope you're right, oh dear..."

JarJar is walking on the Tatooine desert.

JarJar: "Ahhh... Meesa is going to do meessa matinal walking into da desert..."

JarJar looks up and sees the capsule coming into his direction

JarJar: "Ow, moy moy, how ru..." *CRASH*

C3PO and ARTOO get out of the pod. They see JarJar's feet under the pod.

C3PO: "Oh dear! We have hit someone! Who could that be?"

JarJar's feet roll up and get under the pod

ARTOO: beeeep beeeeep beep beep beeeep

C3PO: "What do you say? that was the wicked witch of Tatooine?" The most irritating thing ever?

ARTOO: beeeep

C3PO: "I don't remember it, since I had my memory erased by master Organa, but somehow I feel glad that thing is dead. Thank the maker!"

ANAKIN: "You're welcome!"

Got a question for you, if you can help me out with this. I'm looking for the title of a song. It seems that everytime I hear it, its connected with Brazil, that's why I was hoping you may be able to help.

This song is used in a lot of movies. Its Latin Jazz or a Somba or something like that. I want to say it was used in Road to Rio, The Three Caballeros and I know it was in a Red Skelton movie named The Bathing Beauty.
Road to Rio and The Three Caballeros have an Ary Barroso listed as having contibuted original music, if that helps.

I wish there was some way I could describe the music in words...the song is running through my head.

I haven't seen this films, but it's probably Aquarela do Brasil.

I haven't seen much Hammer movies or old classics, to be honest. Not exactly the kind of film I enjoy.

Here's a silly little horror flick from the early 70s (I think) I enjoyed: Dr. Phibes. Anyone seen that one? And the sequel?

It's one of my favorite films, showing Peter Jackson's GOOD side, he made some GREAT movies before LOTR (well... actually before that ghosts one with Michael J Fox). I wouldn't consider it a horror film, as it's meant to be a comedy. It has the record of most blood in a single movie (actually a single scene!). It's a great movie, if you haven't seen it, see it now (uncut please).

It appears that there will be a new Mario Bros. game for the DS. The graphics will be 3D, but it will be a side-scroller. I'd still prefer 2D graphics, but I guess that's what fan-games are for.

I've seen that one. That's a game I most definitively WILL have.

Because the forum only updates the "viewed" counter if someone comes in from the off-topic page. If you refresh the page without leaving the thread, or post again, it will not be updated.

Things I hate: connecting cables on computers or TV without being able to move them, when they are too close to a wall or something, and you gotta be a freaking yoga master to connect it...

Ah, you obviously forgot of an important economical factor related to the continuous increase of Star Wars memorabilia prices, called the "my-mom-throwed-it-away" factor. This annoying circustance can be found in other events such as comic book collections, toys collections, and specially at porn magazine collections.

I think it's still in my parents loft. I got load of old Star Wars shit up there. Ships in boxes and alot of old toys, and stuff like that.
When I get a bigger house, there will be a shrine to Star Wars

If I only had the time and money to do it, I would. got some spare room in my new apartment, I was thinking of doing a Geekdom Shrine and fill it with SW and anime stuff.

My comments about the "my-mom-throwed-it-away" factor is related to an interview I watched with this guy who ran a comic book store for colectors, and he had some cool stuff like spiderman 1 and the infamous superman one (action comics? dont remember...) with him lifting the car, and lots of other minor collectible stuff, and he said everyday there were guys who came in and said "I had one of those as a kid, I paid 50 cents on it back then, and hand't my mom throwed it away I could sell it for a thousand dollars now!", and he replied "well, if all of those moms hadn't thrown all of those comics away, all over the world, this comic book would still cost 50 cents." - So moms all over the world are responsible for the collectiable memorabillia market

Anybody remember the K-Mart commercial in 1999 promoting Phantom Menace merchandise? It had this little boy going off to school for the first time, comparing his journey to Anakin leaving his mother. I nearly had a fit when I saw it! They were selling the idea that Anakin was a hero that kids should look up to and try to emulate! So say what you will about the '70s and '80s marketing. Yes, it was just as silly as anything else, but at least they didn't try to convince kids to be like a mass-murdering villain in order to sell a few backpacks with Jake Lloyd's face on them.

Don't you think you are overreacting? I mean, it was just an ad, I and HARDLY belive someone would do anything even slightly similar to Anakin Skywalker FICTICIOUS story, I mean, killing sand people and younglings so he can join the dark side?
