Have any thoughts on the two kidnappings of Leia? I haven’t seen anyone solve in a reasonable manner yet.
Spence, I couldn’t find in your notes. How are you taking care of the “two kidnappings” issue?
It’s still there, but the focus of the first kidnapping is now more on it being Kenobi’s call to action. Because less emphasis is placed on the first one, the second one can feel like a bigger moment.
I know a lot of edits are cutting the fortress, but in my opinion that takes away too many important things. The fortress has Reva backstory, some great character moments for Leia and Tala, cool world building, and the pivotal moment where Kenobi reconnects with the Force in full. Plus it creates some logic gaps about the ship being tracked. It all doesn’t quite hold together without it, for me anyway.
The ship Being tracked never bothered me … in a new hope we never see a tracking device being put on.
That is the most minor of my issues with removing the fortress. It’s too damaging to the story and character arcs to lose it. Lots of edits are removing it, I would encourage you to seek those out.
I am def excited and hoping your edit proves me wrong. Episode 4 was just so happy hazard that it was hard to enjoy, but hoping your version cleans that up.

Use only three dots … at the end of the opening crawl. You put four… 😃
Go watch a new hope, they use 4 dots.

V2 is good and fine, but it was reported there’s a slight brightness-like render bug in the conversation with Haja and Obi-Wan. I’ll do a re-render tonight and upload and replace, so that whenever you want to watch the edit again you can have the bugfree version.

I am planning on adding Pixel Joke’s effects to this for my own personal edit. The stuff he is has planned is unreal.

Yes, I suppose you mean in the corridor as Obi-Wan escape the water, right? If so, there’s not much I can do. I mean, you can’t see it’s Tala for 1, and 2) It’s a huge blink and you miss it moment since the screen is filled with water splashes, shaky cam and fast movement.
I can try to mask her out, but the problem is the insane amount of water in the footage. I’ll see what I can do. It’s luckily nothing that break immersion and I don’t think anyone has spotted her except you (bastard!), but once you see it it can’t be unseen. I’ll see what I can do.
I was thinking you could grab the elevator doors have them close quicker.
I really don’t know which scene you are referring to. Could you give me a timestamp or explain further?
I just deleted v1 knowing v2 was coming. It’s the 2 seconds of take on the right side as Obiwan is running in the elevator and the elevator door is closing while the the water is coming. I was just wondering if the best way to rather than mask out, to mask new sliding elevator doors that cover Tala.

For anyone who is going to do their own fan edit, I’ve made a simple new opening crawl, which I have sent to Anjohan, who has said to me that it’ll be included as a separate file for anyone who wishes to use it. 😃
I have done 3x opening crawls, and each crawl has a different movie title:
1a Kenobi.
1b Kenobi A Star Wars Story.
1c Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Please note that I’ve done these in the same style as the main movies Episodes I-VI, and not in the style seen in ‘Rogue One’ or the Kenobi TV series.
There is also a camera pan down to Tatooine, plus a ‘fan edit’ information screen and opening fanfare & title cards etc.Cheers!
Why does it have to say Kenobi vs a more Star Wars like title?
Not sure if anyone has brought this up, but for Episode 6:
Right after Obi-wan undocks, have the other ship with Leia goes into hyperspace right away
And when during the last fight scene when Vader puts Obi-Wan into the hole, have him say “Now I have the high ground” maybe someone can make an “audio deep fake” using descript or altered.ai. You may be able to use this for extra lines for other characters like Haja.
It’s implied without said, that’s WAY better. This is a perfect example of “show, don’t tell.”
Really looking for a miracle here, but do you think there’s any way to have the elements from the article below incorporated? Perhaps with a clever use of the Reva flashback scenes?
The only thing would be to have Obi-wan tell her Anakin is Darth Vader, not sure if we have enough dialogue somewhere to construct that phrase? I have tools to change inflection of words, so perhaps there’s a franken-edit that could work.

I would make immensely more sense to have Obi tell Reva that Darth Vader is Anakin, and her deciding to sacrifice herself to let them leave with the ship in ep. 5
I disagreed after episode 5 where Obi confronted on “how” she knew. To me that, that changed everything.

The only way I could see the smoothening of that is to remove Haja going “You can trust me” and “Definitely”, and instead try to restructure it after Obi-Wan’s “Can I trust you?” to Haja looking at him, either concerned or thoughtful.

This is fantastic, it feels much less jarring, and the sense of movement imo helps sell Haja a bit better, since we don’t get the resolution to him considering betraying Obi-Wan with this cut. Spacing out the dialogue slightly through the establishing shots, like you’ve done here, mitigates the untrustworthiness in his delivery when Obi-Wan has him at blaster-point

I did try it, but 1: the shot is way too low res - and 2: it looks too fake imo.
If I could get a better quality version to work with, then perhaps!
