Question about time.
Time

I suppose  60th;s of a second. will work.
I can start and stop my stop watch  in 19 (60th;s of a second)

Any way if you would like to know what brought this  up, I was on you tube and saw this
Game Theory: How Fast is Sonic the Hedgehog?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze_uxxFJTvE
And will they basically said sonic never brakes the sound barrier in the games.
They roughly measure how long the first act of Green hill zone is and said that the world record
Speed run of the first act was 0 minutes and 25 seconds. And that was not fast enough to brake the sound barrier. Not even close. And if Sonic broke the sound barrier the first game would be over in under a minute. Now that made sense but it was a little sad to here. But then I thought if the game was that fast, it would be to fast to play. What if the time on the screen was in slow motion, and what looked like minutes and seconds on the game timer ware actually seconds and 60th’s of a seconds in the world of the game. That may actually brake the sound barrier, or at least come closer to it.
Still do not like 60th of a second, maybe for the purpose of this I can call it, A (Sonic second)?

.... How are you compensating for the red shift? It looks quite good for a start on these attempts.

we are not using the red prints for anything.

they were purely a test. we may use some frames

if they have less grain.

the lpp source and other THINGS are all we need

for releasing it...

we haven't transferred alll the red reels, but if we

do, i'm just keeping them for my own version..

the grindhouse, and grindhouse+deleted scene versions will

be the LPP with very slight noise removal, and

some of the more difficult scenes fixed.

Just an idea but wood it be possible to apply the Color information from the LPP to the red print?

Get the LPP coloring but the grain of the Red print?

In other words, each individual frame you are taking is somewhere in-between 2K and 4K res, but for coloring and cleanup work you are using a downsample because that will be faster and yield similar results to doing all your editing at the higher (let's call it 3K) resolution, only to have to size it down anyway at the end, for home video.

yes, thats a better way of stating what i was trying to get at! phew..

here's a small image of what the differences in sizes are.. very

substantial!

This was hard to fined, but I got it.

I understand that this is a the masses?

we're not working in 4k..

anyways, the more we think about the issue of distribution

of raw files. the further it slips away through our fingers...

we are looking into the possibility of some archive service,

but even that will be a longshot...

the more i think about it, there will most likely only be our

own personal archives, and possibly one given out to a single

person via mail/drives, and then that person could pass it onto

another.. and form a chain that way... that's how it used to

work in the past... might have to bring that model out of

retirement.. as more time passes, the less likely anything

will happen.. but you never know?

 I know its not 4k..

But I forget what it actually was?

I know the

raw files are more than 1080p.

or 2K? But is it maybe 2 1/2 K or 3K or 3 1/2 K?

Retro Gaming - a general discussion thread
Time

All I have is a NES, a N.64 and a PS2. Oh and a Game Boy Brick! I got the NES shortly before the SNES came out. My Dad got it used, it was cheep. I said I wanted a SNES never got one “ if you get a super Nintendo they will make a super Duper Nintendo the next year” that’s what my dad said. Also when Sonic came out I wanted a geneses never got that ether. Although is I what in a store that had a display SNES or geneses I would play 1 of them the hole time I where there. Years after I got a N64 I did not expect to get it, but I was tolled I had had a herd year and my Mom wanted to get me something special. I got my first to games where Star wars Shadowed of the empire , and Star Fox 64 as I had wanted the original SNES Star Fox but never got it. Years after that I was at high school and got good grades and got a PS2 the year it came out. I then found the Sonic mega collection and got all the old sonic game I could never have before.

What Brand Blu ray player should I get?

Right now you can get a used PS3 for about $120. The disc tray will probably conk out in ten or twelve years, but for an extra $40 compared to a stand alone player that's a pretty good fee to get access to the great PS3 library. For all anyone knows standalone BD players have the same lifespan.

If you have the original models from first release they even were PS2 compatible but these probably aren't what Gamestop sells used these days.

i looked at Gamestop the Cheapest ps3 is $199.99

what is the resolution of 4:3 at 1080p with side bars?
Time

I was wondering what is the actual resolution of a 4:3 videos at 1080p?
For example the Wizard of Oz(1939) has the Aspect Ratio:1.37 :1 like a 4:3 TV.
But there is a blu ray that claims to be 1080P, but if you put it on a 16:9 1080P TV
You will have side bars, and will lose some of the resolution.
So what is the resolution of 4:3 at 1080p with side bars?
