I am sure that is another thing the EU explains and has different versions to confuse people.

I know that in Zahn's trilogy thrawn captures several republic cruisers to use against the new republic.  But since that was pre phantom menace who knows?

Since then we read about the republic jedi vessel outbound flight.

Supposedly and i am relying on memory here did'nt the republic have a fleet of warships and no way to crew them because of years and years of piece and no wars, so they needed the clones?  Or were the old fleets decomissioned and a whole new one built up by palpatine?  I was under the impression at that point the republic had no military, and no protection except for the jedi.

I mean seriously if the republic was not a joke they would have had a capable military and political senate and would not need the jedi.  Lucas basically made democracy look like a joke, and they need a theocracy like the jedi to run everything.

read the graphic novels for the clone wars. they had the imperial uniforms only a few months after the battle of geonosis

Watching the first episode right now, this is pretty juvenile stuff. I never made it a point to watch the short Clone Wars cartoons, and I certianly won't take the time to watch watch this.

But for a kids show, it is not all that bad. If I was a kid between the ages of 6-11, I think I'd love it.

i didn't watch that because each episode was only like one minute. i didnt want to watch every night to see seven minutes of the show.

I liked them both.

I thought the cave scene with Yoda and the Clones and the Plo Kloon episode where he does about the same thing goes out of its way to show that the Jedi really care about these Clones and aren't going to throw them around like battle droid pawns.  Thinking that these same Clones will eventually turn on their Jedi just because they are ordered to hurts a little.

The prequels, besides explaining too much about where some things came from, also in parts didn't explain enough.  We were forced to assume since Obi-Wan had cute names for a couple of the Clones that they were actually friends.  Now with these episodes and the movie we see that they worked together and respected each other greatly.  Also in the Plo Kloon episode, we got to see Palpatine personally contact Anakin after the Jedi left his office to give him some friendly advice, again something only casually mentioned in the movies.

I really think this series might actually do what is advertised and be an entertaining fill-in to the space between Episode II and III.  Should we have needed it?  No.  Is it welcome?  Yes.

u should, if u haven't yet that is, read the novels and graphic novels. its just so hard to believe after the clones and the jedi have become such good friends, they turn on each other in the end. same with anakin and all the friends he makes.

Well I DVR'd it and watched it this weekend, and it is made for kids under 8 years old, and I wonder about any of you guys here who are adults and actually like this thing?  Seriously, do you like Pokeman at your age?   The show is a kids show, and lets let the kids talk about it on the playground at lunch instead of on a message board for adults:)

there are adults who like pokemon. so i'm not surprised that there would be adults who would like star wars. i do.

puppet yoda or cgi yoda

Puppet Yoda is less realistic in many superficial ways (in some ways it's more realistic, however), but it is far more emotionally gripping than what Lucasart's artists gave us in the prequels (both Episode I Yoda and CG Yoda). The character's physical model had so much more feeling and reality poured into his OT creation (for whatever reason).

Otherwise, I don't like the Yoda duels for two reasons: First, he's an "old man" and thus shouldn't be able to fight like that. Second, Yoda was so skilled with the good side of the force that he should have actually been able to reflect his opponent's attacks back against them and thus never need to use the force to perform any attack of his own.

yea, it seems weird that after he finished his duel with dooku that he needed his cane back.

I didn't like the Hayden Vader costume either. I liked the ROTJ Vader suit the best. They made a different suit for each movie in the OT right? It's obvious for ESB, but with ROTJ I think they made a new one too even though it's harder to tell. His voice is obviously also different in every movie. I also liked the ROTJ Vader voice the best also. The Hayden Vader sucked.

about his voice, don't forget james earl jones was getting older.
