Does he do that? He extends his had when choking the guy in SW, but I don’t remember him closing his hand. In ESB he doesn’t even lift a finger.

This is the first time in my 28 years that I’ve even seen it suggested that Luke could’ve been doing anything other than choking the guards. I had no idea there was any disagreement at all about that.
This is the first time in the 34 years since the movie came out that I have heard he was force choking the guards. I must have watched ROTJ millions of times and never got that idea.

Where did I say that? I said they are doing mental gymnastics with disingenuous arguments, one of which I cited. That meme (or whatever you call it) was not an honest rebuttal to the criticism that several posters share. I pointed out exactly why it wasn’t honest. That’s a problem?
If people like a movie or don’t like a movie, cool. I think all opinions are valid. But if I see something I think is disingenuous or a poor/flawed argument I will point out the logical flaw if I can.

Sometimes it behooves a Jedi to use speech in tandem with persuasive Force powers. With lesser minded Gamorreans it’s probably even less called for.
Speaking of seeing things differently, I’d wager that the Gamorreans, as Jabba’s chosen guards, are probably quite clever, alert and very good at what they do. It wouldn’t work to have a bunch of idiots guarding the palace of one of the biggest mob bosses in the galaxy.

One person had heard about it, but somehow thought it was a joke that popular culture had cooked up.
Others just didn’t know anything about star wars.

So I just got a Youtube ad for HBO Nordic about showing the OT and PT films and I noticed that the colours on the OT clips looked quite normal. I haven’t actually watched the official blu-ray version, but aren’t ANH pretty weird-looking colour-wise? In the Despecialized Edition comparison video ANH has a purple hue to it. The same clip of Leia talking to Vader on the Tantive IV that was used for the comparison was in this promo/trailer and it looked quite normal. There was a shot at the end showing the DS explosion with the Praxis effect, so they were obviously SE clips (not that I expected anything else). So has there been an “improved” release of the SE OT recently or am I just imagining things?
That comparison video makes the BluRays look worse than they actually are, and I can’t remember the technical mistake that made it that way. Unfortunate.
It’s still a good comparison video as the problems affecting the bluray footage affects the entire video, including the Despecialized footage.
It’s unfortunately a terrible reference for either though.
