Yes, to those kids he’s Santa Clause. I’ll agree with you on that. I wish I could still believe in Santa Clause…

Not to take away from your point or focus too much on pedantics. It’s simply a pet peeve of mine I see thrown out way too often. But I really, really, really wish we could knock out this misconception that Santa Claus has an “e” in it. I don’t know if it was the Tim Allen movie that did it (the title of that movie is a pun), or if it was widespread before that, but this has to stop! It has to stop, I say!!!

I stand corrected. Where I live we have Sinterklaas

Ah, a Dutchman? I knew I liked ya!

You too?

No, just a fan from the USA. Almost moved to Den Bosch this time last year. Probably should have.

As for any ethical issue, Cushing’s estate gave it’s blessing.

OK, so there is no legal issue. But I am not sure that an estate’s blessing is enough to eliminate any ethical issue.

I think this is important because Peter Cushing definitely did not agree to star in a film made decades after his death, regardless of however much money his estate was given. I also am curious how you all would feel when and if they do CGI Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Alec Guinness, and whoever else they want to recreate. I think it sets a very creepy precedent.

If they start using CGI to recreate dead actors to be in films they had no association with, then it will become a weird, creepy thing. But in this instance, I feel they didn’t recreate Peter Cushing, they recreated Governor Tarkin.

I’ve said this a few times, but I’ll say it again:
I didn’t buy it being Peter Cushing, but I did buy it being Tarkin.
Peter Cushing is one of my favorite actors, and I could tear the R1 performance to shreds, but it’s good enough that I can buy into it being that character, just not that actor.
It works for me.

I have this idea of turning batman begins into a star wars short film by cutting all of the film instead of the bruce training, Adding lines from TPM and ROTS, Removeing bruces name with anikin and skywalker, rotoscopeing swords as light saber, and adding OT and PT music. Maybe

I had the idea to make a Top Gun edit replacing the music with songs from Judas Priest’s Turbo album. For the 99.9% of you who don’t listen to metal and post on a Star Wars forum, that movie was supposed to use songs from that album but the band turned it down.

That would’a been great! Great band, great album.
