The Last Jedi has become bad because people can’t comprehend new directions for a 40-year old franchise. Get over it.

Episode IX WILL probably be predictable as fuck and all SW fans will rejoice.

I’m lucky in that I can ignore TLJ and TFA in my own mental canon.

This right here is how you should handle these movies if you don’t like them, and I respect this completely. But I don’t think it’s luck, I think it’s just common sense…or at least that’s what it should be. Getting all pissed off because a later movie “ruined” an earlier movie is just really alien to me.

Yes yes yes.
I was never “worried” about the EU or the ST or the spin-offs because the OT is a self contained story that I’m happy with. Anything else is a bonus. Take what ya like, dodge what ya don’t. Nothing is for everybody.

YouTube likes and dislikes are an indication of a good movie or a bad movie now? Ok.

Yeah, sheesh. What a weird thing to judge anything by.
And anybody who bothers clicking “dislike” on a YouTube video is either trolling or has psychological issues. I’m always laughing at “12 people actually took the time to say ‘nya!’ at an informative video that is exactly what it says it is.”

Finally sprang for a Filmstruck account and have been taking full advantage. This weekend I’ve watched

Throne of Blood - 1957, dir. Akira Kurosawa
Viridiana - 1961, dir. Luis Buñuel
Rome: Open City - 1945, dir. Roberto Rosellini
Rodan - 1956, dir. Ishiro Honda
Laura - 1944, dir. Otto Preminger

Might fire up some more Kurosawa this afternoon, TLJ really put me in the mood for that stuff.

Laura is one of my favorites.

Same here!

Statement from the creator: “I don’t want to give too much away but our hope is that it can just be dropped right into the movie seamlessly!” … very promising indeed…

It’s cool, but they have a loooong way to go if they intend that to be dropped into the actual movie.
They don’t seem concerned at all with matching the style of camera movement, backgrounds or lighting with the film.

What’s funny to me is people complained that TFA played it too safe, now this did the opposite of that and people are still complaining.

this is too real.

Since when is anything for everybody?

There were people who didn’t like Star Wars in '77.
There were people who liked Star Wars in '77 who didn’t like ESB in '80.
There were people who liked Star Wars in '77 and ESB in '80 but not ROTJ in ‘83.
This has happened with every film. Nothin’ new at all. This is the way everything works.
Nothing is for everybody. No big deal.

Sorry if this has already been addressed.

Now with UHD (4K) TVs becoming the standard, why would Adywan be stubbornly determined that 720p is “good enough”?

He’s sticking with it because the blu-ray doesn’t gain anything after 720.

I like the work being done, mostly, but have to wonder if any of us will live long enough to see it finished. (I say this with a wink and a smile, no offense intended.)

I have friends who didn’t, so maybe choose a different way of stating… whatever it is you’re trying to say.

I wonder if now that Rogue One put to bed any debate about the color of X-Wing exhaust (definitely pink), if you will have your edit stay consistent with what is obviously a conscious choice of the franchise. X-Wing exhaust is pink.

Ady’s already said that the engines will be pink. They already are in ESB:R.

Jay kind of did say yes…
But the person who used that word, I believe, is still active and roaming the forums. If you agree that it is a word that people should be disciplined for using, why haven’t you disciplined that person?

That was done in PMs as far as I can tell. The guy apologized publicly. I don’t see any reason to ban him.

I think we should wait for Frink to return from his temp-ban before we continue to condemn anyone else or go on endless conjecture.

What’s the problem with “condemning anyone else?”

I don’t think that’s very fair to do if they are not here to defend themselves. I’m fairly certain everyone we’re talking about doesn’t visit this section of the forum.

That’s their problem. You can send them a PM and direct them here. It’s not like we registered on a different forum to talk about them behind their backs.

Jay said:

Breaking the following rules will result in an immediate and permanent ban with no prior warning:

  1. Personal attacks and slurs based on race/ethnicity/religion/gender/sexual orientation/etc. aren’t tolerated under any circumstances.

So Jay is the r-word a personal attack and slur, yes or no?

He just said yes.

And now a message from Tv’s Frink.

I apologize for my overreaction and the distraction/annoyance it caused everyone, including Dre, the moderators, Jay, and everyone else just trying to read and post in a thread about a Star Wars movie.

I was also going to ask Dre to reconsider his announcement that he’s leaving the forum, as he’s a valued member of the community, but I see he’s already posting again. I’m glad to see it.

Glad to hear Frink is being sensibleabout this lil’ dust up. He mostly always is though.

I’m gone for 2 years and Luke is ready to kill his nephew and Frink is banned…need better justifications for the motives of beloved characters!

I laughed again!

Looking forward to seeing Frinks avatar de-slashed.
