What the hell is happening here???

Not sure, but I'm thinking up several captions to go with that pic. :P

I am thinking that this has something to do with "Droids". I believe there's an "Easter Egg" containing some of that cartoon series as well as some of the Holiday Special (thus the horrible artwork of Fett on the dragon).

Seriously, who the F did this artwork? Why not just include children's crayon drawings.

I actually really like this bit of art.  It is very much like the old 1960's sci fi art that I used to read when I was a kid.

Stuff like this:

I don't see the connection between this awesome looking space station and that stupid looking space ship with mis-matched hands. (HANDS!) It doesn't look remotely Star Wars.

What HASN’T changed on the 2011 OT SE Blu-ray release – the uncorrected mistakes...
Time

Hey about that background in RotJ, in the 97 SE and on, Lando becomes a total silhouette when he turns and walks toward the Falcon. I may be mistaken, but I don't think that error is in the original film. I only noticed it when i got the SE on VHS and I believe I compared it with my OT boxset. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Couldn't Fett have been listening in on Han and Leia's conversation and therefore know exactly what they're up to? It might be cool if we could hear Han and Leia still talking to each other when we are inside Fett's ship, over his radio or whatever, so the audience knows he's been spying on them. Dunno where the audio for that could be sourced from though... Maybe deleted scenes? Anyway, then you could leave the hyperspace jump in because we would know that Fett knows Han & co.'s plan and that he is going to meet them there. Also, when we see Fett in his ship, he's messing with controls which could be the "navi-computer" or whatever to jump to light speed.

the Ewok eyes, that's fucking creepy. The idea is pretty good to be honest (for a SE that is) because the Ewoks look awfully fake and this will make them more alive. But the execution is not that great, it really does make him look creepy.

I agree. The eyes don't look right for Ewoks. They should look more like a bears eyes IMO.

I think it looks pretty natural in motion. It's not a CG effect that stands out that much. In fact, it doesn't even look CG.

You're right, the effect isn't too bad. I just don't think those eyes match that creature. They seem to human to me. The original eyes looked more like a bears eyes and that seems just fine to me.

As the line currently plays out, it sounds like an unalien alien throwing his voice out of a mask-like head on a hardly manned bridge of an empty ship that has little connection with the larger fleet.

Agreed!

Anybody got any ideas on how to make the fish-head-things more realistic? I dig the designs and I think the animatronic work on the lead one is really cool, but,  they just look so rubbery and fake! I've always accepted the look because I grew up with the film and  it looked quite convincing to me as a child. But, I recently watched the trilogy with the girlfriend and she couldn't help but bust up laughing every time those fish guys were on screen, and said it totally took her out of the movie (well, lots of things in Jedi took her out of the movie). The eyes look around, it blinks, ect. and those things look good. So what can be done to make it look less rubbery? And something has to be done about the lip sync! a mouth casually bobbing up and down hardly matches the bubbling voice and dialog.

I really hope that this isn't an indication of the new sound mix. Talk about a noticeable jump in audio sources for the dialogue.

I never noticed, but Harrison seems to be saying something different than "Now look, don't get any funny ideas". His mouth doesn't match the dialog. Just me?

When my power comes back on, I'm going to release a couple wallpapers! They may not look like much, but they have it where it counts.

EDIT: Uploaded! You can find the first two wallpapers on the site!

Yikes... I'm guessing those won't be shown close-up in the film, right?

EDIT- helps to read the rest of the thread...

Most of the models I'm showcasing are used in quick shots from long distance. These are higher resolution than you'll end up seeing in the movie.

Good to know.

I really love this! One of the coolest mockups I've seen.

As for "Where did the enter the pod?" Isn't the square hole on the right (seen in both pics above) the door they went through? So the door on the pod would be on the side like in the diagrams.

I really dunno about the window though. Might be cool to make it a display screen like Bingo mentioned.

I love the top pic! The second one, not as much. (I'll refer to it's updated version you recently posted and I hope this comes off as constructive, which is how it's intended.) The left of the shot looks to empty and it throws the weight of the shot off. Also, the two domed buildings look too copy/pasted- I like what you had going in the earlier version better. But most of all, to me, it looks like Luke is driving his car towards the group of buildings on the right as if he intends on ramming into them. With all the space to the left, it seems he would be driving over there. Maybe it doesn't look that way in motion?

Great job on the coloring! The color of the sand is great. The ground looks much more natural also.

Good thread. I think PT Yoda might have had it backward when he said "hate leads to suffering."

I think back to May 19, 1999, I skipped school (my only absence of the year) with two classmates to see a midday showing. I sat there excited to see the new Star Wars. I walked out wanting to not feel disappointed, trying to process what I just saw. It just wouldn't make sense. I became more disillusioned after II, III, and the passage of time. I certainly hate Jar Jar. I resent what they did to Star Wars. I want to ignore them, wish they never happened that way. But they're still there.

I'm very much in line with this. But..

This very much also.

And a whole bunch of this...

Completely ignore, with just a vague recollection of the only one I've seen.

Only I did watch all three.

So I dunno where that puts me. I hated 'em and I'm sad at the missed opportunity, but *lowers sunglasses* I deal with it.
