Personally, the collector in me says I would be very happy to own every version of the films restored to the maximum possible quality - the originals, the '97 Specials, the '04 Specials and the '11 Specials. I wouldn't mind all the different audio versions too - 35mm, 70mm, '93 mix, etc. However, the only ones I'd really want to watch would be the original cuts. The option to watch the others would just be a pleasant bonus.

Having said all that, I still don't think I could ever fully forgive George for what he's done. If he came out and just flat out admitted how much of an a-hole he's been about it, then yeah I guess I could. But if it was a case of "Here's the originals for god's sake. Now shut the hell up already!" I would probably be less inclined to thank him. :P

This all the way.

I'd happily buy this set:

Star Wars- 1977

A New Hope- 1981, 1997, 2004, 2011

The Empire Strikes Back- 1980, 1997, 2004, 2011

Return Of The Jedi- 1983, 1997, 2004, 2011

friday the 13th part II and III

Part 3 was bad, but part 2 was awesome!

YES! Part 2 is my favorite of the series!

nah..the original has a grittiness and moodiness none of the others had.  no question, it ripped off halloween, but it also dripped with atmosphere and dread.  part 2 tried to do that, but it was too well-lit, the chi-chi-chi-ma-ma-ma sounded to synthesized and the music was lame and the POV was out of control.  you just like part 2 cuz of ginney, terry and vicki :P

and mrs.voorhees was 10 times scarier than jason.

Oh, I guess I'm fucking wrong then. I guess I do prefer the original to Part 2. Thanks for clarifying that. I'm glad your here to to tell us these things.

FINALLY! I was surprised that wasn't posted immediately.

I can see the different squadrons= different colors thing I suppose. Still though, I just don't think the models look as convincing blue as grey

But what if we make fun of it and have a good time doing that? Make it ok then?

It just makes it equivalent to Showgirls or Rocky Horror, that's all.

Only Rocky Horror is entertaining by design, not by virtue of being so crap it's fashionable to pay good money to mock it.

THIS. People laugh with Rocky Horror. People laugh at Phantom Menace. BIG difference.

Best friend and myself are going to see it tonight. Im not really sure why, we both hate the movie, and Im personally not the biggest fan of 3d (although I will say that Hugo has almost changed my mind on it, that movie was phenominal!), but yet we are still going.

We both love Star Wars since our childhood (both of us are late twenties) and we saw all three prequels together, so guess we are trying to keep the streak alive?

Really, why are we going...

That's disturbing. And no, laughing during the screening doesn't make it ok. You're still feeding the beast and ruining the flick for those fools who want to enjoy it. How 'bout donating the money to a charity instead? Or just give it to me if you don't want it. I gots bills to pay and unlike George, financially times are tough for me.

I know it's only a model either way, but the grey ties just look more realistic to my eyes. The blue ties look like toys- looks like they were made of plastic. And the idea that the Empire would paint their fighters blue just seems goofy and out of place.

But I do understand the want/need to have them stand out against the Stardestroyers/DS... Didn't Ady say that they would be less blue than the DVD/BD but more so than the ANH:R ties? ...They still look awfully blue in the latest clip.

George doesn't like 3D That 'comes out at you' from the screen (!)

The skeptic in me wonders if he "doesn't like" that sort of 3D because he can't do it with the source material he has.  Because that statement is inconsistent with Sy Snootles' ROTJ Special Edition lips.

I'm going to have to disagree based on the new Star Tours.  Outside of one shot, at least on my path, the 3D was more about depth and perspective than shock and amazement with things popping out at you.  That project suggests that he actually means it when he says he's not crazy about 3D as a spectacle, but more as an enhancement.

You're inside a ship on that ride. You can't have stuff popping out at you all the time unless you're supposed to be sucked out into space. The only appropriate time to have something pop out at you is if it literally bursts through the cockpit window.

Which is how the ride ends, so I still call bullshit.

Very good point Pug. I gots a feelin' his story will change when it's time for cg Sy to suck the audience outta their seats...

I wonder what the actual reasoning behind it is, not the made-up EU explanation.

I'd say the "EU explanation" is probably the real explanation as well. I've met other people who think it's really weird that he's wearing Hans clothes, but it really does make sense. Lando would have no other clothes than what he fled Cloud City in, and those were probably soiled during his escape and the following chase.

So do you think Lando actually soiled himself during his escape....I'll have to watch it again

J

I didn't say he shit his pants! I said his clothes were soiled- as in sweaty, dirty, smelly and in need of a wash.

And then when he's done ESB:R he's going to start on ROTJ:R.

Hmm, wasn't the plan to take a break after ESB:R and then redo ANH:R?

Nope. ANH:Re-R after ROTJ:R. Check the thread title.

-Just realized that I kinda sound like a dick in this post. Wasn't intentional, I assure you.

the Revisited pane looked a little blue in the Luke and Yoda training bit...

I think it's just the overblown colors of the Blu on the split-screen that makes Revisited look a bit pale/blue.

Great clip! Colors look great and Yoda's mouth movements look much more realistic than the original. Also love that Yoda's movements have been reversed (or something) when Luke falls so that Yoda looks at him instead of turning away.
