Bingo and Ender!?
It’s a Festivus miracle!
Bingo and Ender!?
It’s a Festivus miracle!
What I don’t understand is that if the original 1997 Special Edition prints were given a new remaster, then how come the sound mixes still sound so compressed as in the 2004/2011 releases? It’s incredibly noticeable for A New Hope.
I mean, just because they rescanned the film doesn’t mean they didn’t reuse the 11SE mix they already had. They certainly wouldn’t recreate it.
Yeah, keep your expectations in check. This isn’t a Harmyfilm Restoration or Adywan Productions product.
This is an official release we’re talking about. They leave the quality to the fan projects.
Loving your work!
Great stuff!
Had never heard (or even heard of) Twiki’s early season 2 voice until tonight.
I think it just ruined my life.
& I’m not even a big Buck Rodgers fan.
Thanks for the update.
Empire’s 40th anniversary is in May-that would be an opportune time to release the 4K set. Plus, you know Disney would love to ding you twice-release Rise of Slywalker on Blu ray in March, then the 4K box-set in May.Wrong thread?
Right thread, actually. He’s responding to the latest update: https://swrevisited.wordpress.com/2019/12/14/december-2019-update/
Thanks! This is my only place for anything starwars. it’s a bummer that it’s become kinda neglected.
Those scenes are out of order.
Vader should land at dusk, before C-3PO tells the story and the rebels become “part of the tribe”.
I agree. Wonder if Ady has any interest in shuffling these scenes up.

I thought this was interesting.
I watched Return Of The Jedi last night and caught something that I never gave much thought …when the Emperor tells Vader to go to the sanctuary moon and wait for Skywalker , he does not arrive on the moon until after nightfall .In the scene right after Vader has his talk with Palps ,the rebels land on Endor and a full day passes into night before Luke goes off to meet Vader . Was there that much travel time between Death Star 2 and Endor via shuttle ? Or did Vader go off and meditate for a while before departing ? I guess this could be open to a lot of speculation .
…Luke says to Leia “Vader’s here - on this moon…” when Vader hasn’t landed yet.
Any thoughts on this?

Hmm. That’s kinda interesting.
I’m bring this up elsewhere…
It’ll all make sense and tie all 9 movies together as a cohesive whole.
BINGO!!! Hi Bingo!
Yeah, I don’t buy this. They defeat the big battle station and that’s it. Darth Vader’s still around. The Emperor is still around. They never try to paint it as more than a momentary victory in a galactic war. Both the Holiday Special and Splinter of the Mind’s Eye are released the following year and the Empire is alive and kicking in both.
I agree. Sure, Star Wars ends on a triumphant note. The Rebellion has earned a big victory & our main hero has entered a new chapter in his life.
BUT! The Rebellion has also been found out, thinned out & are now on the run. Our hero is left without a mentor or familiar surroundings & has a heap of responsibility on his shoulders. The main baddy is seen flying away safe n’ sound, the Empire’s hold on the galaxy is still intact & the Emperor himself alive n’ well and his location is still a mystery.
So, even with the happy ending (which is very much fitting), it’s clear that the war and the stories are far from over.
At the end of Return of the Jedi however, the Empire has lost and the victory of our heroes is definite. Lazily undoing that without explanation is sure to rub some the wrong way.
I’m surprised this hasn’t been done for a fan fan film, yet… 😃
That the space between the leg and the stick wasn’t erased is driving me c r a z y.
I would think that 50 years in hiding would give someone a chance to practice.
So the thing is 50 years old?
But is it still like a baby? Or is it like a 50 year old in a baby’s body?
If it’s been training for 50 years with the faculties of an adult, I get it. If it’s just natural for the species, I hate it.
I haven’t seen any of this yet, but I have a question…
Has there been any explanation or clues as to why the baby can use the force?
They all suck.
Yes.
I’m a dirty praxis effect apologist. Honestly I think that without the praxis ring, the explosions look pretty obviously like miniature effects. I don’t think that’s inherently a bad thing but the sense of scale isn’t really there.
If we’re gonna change the explosions, great, I’m all for it. The original DS pops like a little balloon full of glitter…
But the rings add nothing. The original explosions are still right there and the rings ruin music, sounds, moods n’ moments.
Kinda weird to think in-universe that the bad guys explicitly call their side the “dark-side.” Paradoxically they don’t believe they are evil but they’re also conceding that they are evil.
The dark half of the yin-yang isn’t evil.
Well… when the dark side of the Moon destroys an entire planet, Taoism tends to go beyond Star War’s pay-grade.
I’m just saying that that’s where it’s coming from.
When Vader says “Dark side” he isn’t saying “Evil side”.

Anyone here that still has not seen The Last Jedi? Am I the only one?
“No. There is another.”
*emerges from the shadows
Good catch. Looks like a layer is covering it.
Seems like something that could be fixed before the BD release. If Ady has any interest.
The idea with fan edits is to bring all the movies together into a more cohesive story.
I don’t think that’s Ady’s intent.
The Emperor being played by Ian McDiarmid, instead of being an old woman with monkey eyes.
I love McDiarmid’s preformance in ROTJ, but I’ve always wished they’d have kept him more mysterious and with Clive Revel’s wonderful voice.
Oh, and the SE version of the scene is crap. ROTS monster-mash face. Ugh. Ady got it right.
I really like some of TMBTM other work, so I’m interested in this.
But, What. The. F*ck. is up with that title? What did the Alien eat?
I mean, I see the intent there, but… damn.
But it WASN’T in cold blood! Greedo just told him he was gonna take his ship and kill him. Han was saving his own life.
I don’t know how this has become so hard to understand…
[edit- didn’t see Humdingers post. Glad to see some one else gets what’s actually happening in that scene.
why is he wall-eyed? It’s the same in the Bluray but surely his eyes aren’t actually doing that in the original footage they used; it must be edited. I think his left eye (closest to Obi Wan) is legit and the right eye must be ‘adjusted’ so he looks more forwards. Cover up the (his) right side of his face and it looks like he’s looking at someone stood in front of Ben.
Yeah, I think you’re right about the eye. Weird.
Also, judging by the shots you posted, the black level seems even more crushed. Is the case all throughout?About the “worse” compositing, can some kind soul explain? I don’t really see it…
Maybe in the 2nd shot, but I think the first looks a bit better…
(also, what’s 19SE mean?)It refers to the original Special Edition releases in 1997.
That would make no sense at all in this instance…

Dah, obviously. Thanks.
The reason I reckon the 19SE has worse compositing of Hayden is the black levels… The shadow under his neck seems much darker and browner than any of the darkest shadows on Yoda or Obi-Wan, which are more of a medium blue. Less technically, his head generally seems less ghostly and less well integrated with Shaw’s body and the other two Jedi masters.
Hmm, maybe it’s more apparent in motion, but they all look less ghostly in the screencap. Seems fairly well-matched to me. Well, as well matched as ever, so not very well at all.
