Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

Not necessarily. Lucas himself came up with the retcon that the PT-era Jedi, while never allowed to fall in love or have long-term relationships, still went around having sex and one-night stands*.

*Is it any wonder why I utterly loathe the PT Jedi and Lucas "brilliant" vision?

I think that was always there. It may not be explicit in the OT, but given the monk like lives of Yoda and Obi it might be inferred.

But Obi and Yoda weren't living Monk-like lives by choice or because of a code of conduct. They were hiding from the Empire. At least that's always been my reading of the films.

I still think Han should have held some resentment/distrust towards Lando in ROTJ for what transpired in TESB.

By "for what transpired in TESB" I guess you mean when Lando saved the lives of and entire population as well as our heroes from what would other wise been a bloodbath?
I think the writers understood that after Han heard the whole story, he'd understand Lando's situation and motivations and even be thankful that he did what he did.
I'd like to see that scene, but not one where Han acts like a dick to an old friend who saved everyone's life including his own.

Another thing that irks me is how so many people view Lando as some sort of traitor who needs to "redeem" himself somehow. He saved Leia, Chewie, and AN ENTIRE CITY FULL OF PEOPLE while risking the life of only one man, who he lead a team on a mission to save. It's not like he could have sacrificed himself to save the others. Vader knew Luke was coming and he knew Lukes friends were already there. Lando refusing to help would have only gotten more people killed and possibly a city destroyed. Even if Han died in the carbonite I don't see anything Lando could have done better and I see no need for any kind of redemption.

In the real world, when royals serve in the military, how are they addressed, by title or rank?

That's a good question. But, I think in a situation like this, her "Princess" title would mean very little compared to her rank. Both to the other members of the Rebellion and to herself as well. But, I don't really know.

Also, by addressing her by rank, it would help to flesh out her character even more. I think it would be a nice alteration in a fan edit or a REVISIT-ation of some kind ; )

I hate that many people seem to misunderstand Leia's character in Star Wars. It seems many think of her character as a captured princess and a innocent victim of the galactic civil war. Even Carrie Fisher doesn't understand her "floating accent" that comes and goes throughout the film.
The fact is, when we meet her she's only using her "Princess" title to disguise her real position as a member of the Rebel Alliance on a mission to deliver the stolen Death Star plans to the Rebel base. Her accent is only used in front of Darth Vader and Moff Tarkin in an attempt to fool them into thinking she's no more than the innocent princess of a peaceful world and therefore no threat to the Empire at all.
I've also heard her delivering the mission briefing in TESB criticized by people who obviously don't understand her character. She's not just a princess who got caught up in the war, she's a major leader of the Rebel military. That's why we see her doing such things in TESB and why she's leading such missions in SW.

It might be a nice touch if a fan editor altered General Dodonna's dialog to something like "General Organa, you're safe!"
I'd dig that.

Well, ask yourself this: Are you currently participating in an internet discussion about Star Wars? :-D

Haha, yeah. It's just a strange situation when you realize you dislike more than you like about a franchise you're supposedly a fan of.

You're needlessly limiting your horizons, but that's your prerogative and it doesn't make you any less a fan. ;-)

Well, I'm not really limiting myself. I've checked out the EU, I just haven't found any of it that I like. Except the flight simulator type games like X-Wing, TIE Fighter & Rouge Squadron. Those were great.

I only like the original film and Empire. No SE, PT, EU books or comics, cartoon shows, ect. I don't collect toys or cards or any merchandise. I actually don't own a single official product except for the original OT boxset on VHS and I loaned that to my sister to show my nephews over 10 years ago*. I have no intentions of asking for it back.

So... can/should I still call myself a Star Wars fan?

* the original VHS tapes are the only version of Star Wars my nephews have seen. No PT either. And they LOVE it! The OT are their favorite films. Makes me happy.

I have that in my dreams all the time. I'm running, then I find that I can use my hands to kind of propel myself forward. Not really running on all fours I guess, just using it as a boost. Some times I can soar through the air, but I have to use telephone / lights poles, ect to shove off of for speed and to keep flying.

Tucker is a great name! I approve! I'm sure your relived! ; )

I actually have some good news of my own...

I'm moving to Holland in two weeks to be with the lady I love and to push my career as a graphic artist. Life has been pretty tough and depressing for me the past year or two, but I think things are about to turn around!

ITS A BLACK TOY POODLE!!!!!!!!

We just adopted a cute litte black toy poodle!   We got him from an animal shelter which rescued him from somewhere in North Carolina.   We don't know much They estimate that he is about 3 years old.  He has had all his shots and has been neutered and microshiped.  He seems to be in good health.  He seems nice, well behaved and friendly.    We like him very much.    Its good to have a dog again!

That's great, Warb! Got a name for your new friend yet?

What if Padme didn't die in ROTS and is still alive all the way up to ANH where she is destroyed with Alderaan?

I've been preaching this since walking out of RotS.

Did you walk out before the end credits?

If not I am disappointed, If I could go back in time I would pay money and walk out as the film starts.

 I didn't. It was a train wreck I couldn't look away from. ; )

But really, I rarely walk out of a film. Can't tell someone what all was wrong with it if you don't stay till the end!

I did laugh out loud at "NOOOooooOOO!" though.

Would you put the emperor in star wars even if only a brief hint or a glimpse of him?

Nah. It's cool that we only hear of him in the first film, catch a distorted glimpse in the second, and then a full reveal in the third. Better to build some mystery around some characters (Emperor, Jabba) and then have a great reveal of them latter.

It's very annoying to me when I'm invited to watch a movie at a friends house on their new humongous super HD ultra plasma-whatever TV only to realize that all the money they spent on the TV and BD player is for nothing because the motion enhancements are turned on making the film look like a speed up soap opera. Even more annoying when I'm the only one in the room who even notices this and everyone else insists that it's better this way. Ugh...

It's even worse when people don't know the difference, IMO.  I can at least see the appeal of high-refresh rates, and even appreciate them in video games/certain animation.

Yeah, that's the real kicker for me too. And you're right about video games. It often makes them look clearer, smoother and better. But it always makes films look artificial and cheap. At least from my experience.
