Nightmare Scenario Special Edition
Time

ANH: All original effects shots recomposed lazily. Terrible looking CGI creatures sprinkled throughout. The cut Jabba scene reinstated with terrible looking CGI. Censor the Imperial officers deaths when Luke, Han and Chewie blast 'em. Crush the blacks and alter the colors to the point where nothing looks real or normal or good. Ruin the original sound mix.

ESB: All original effects shots recomposed lazily. New shots of the snow monster but make him look different than the other two designs that already conflict in the film. Remove the original Emperor and add in the goofy monster face version from ROTS. Luke screams while falling in Cloud City. Crush the blacks and alter the colors so that nothing looks real or normal or good. Ruin the original sound mix.

ROTJ: All original effects shots recomposed lazily. Add a Vegas style musical number in Jabbas palace. Make the sarlacc look like Seymour from Little Shop Of Horrors, except use crappy looking CGI. Replace Sebastian with Hayden. Crush the blacks and alter the colors so that nothing looks real or normal or good. Ruin the original sound mix.

Oh... wait.. All of that happened and more..

Damn, man.

I don't know if any of you guys have ever been completely immersed in a new language for an extended period of time, but it is exhausting. My brain is working overtime trying to figure out what my teachers are saying, and I'm usually tired by the time school ends, shortly after 4:00 (although yesterday I was dead tired by 2:00). And that's with 10+ hour sleeps every night.

When I moved to the Netherlands, I could only say "Ik ben Ray" (I am Ray).
I found even just hanging out at bars would make me drowsy from trying to listen to what everyone was saying.
But immersing yourself in the language and culture is the best way to learn it. Good luck!

And how do you get 10+ hours of sleep every night!?

It's not as easy as just synching the sound of the 97SE mix to the DeEd because it has the narration in places where there is no dialogue, including the added bits (but @yoda-sama: it is the '97SE, so most of those changes you mention aren't there) but if you guys want to give it a shot, here you go:

ESB

ROTJ

The bitrate is pretty low but it's the best I managed to find.

Would you be interested in a track using the script from those files but with new narration over one of the original sound mixes?
That way there would be no SE sounds, no chopped edits and the sound quality would be much better.
I think I'll do it for myself anyway, so if you (or anyone else) are interested I'll share.

Wouldn't a new narration go against the idea of this being "preservation"?

I'll be taking the script from the seeing impaired track Harmy posted. The track isn't available on anything but the 2004 SE, so there's no 1980 version to preserve. I have friends that benefit from these sort of tracks, so I'll be making these for them.

JEDIT: Harmy beat me to the response : )

The Lapti Nek Appreciation Thread

I've always wondered if the scene could somehow just be trimmed to show Ula falling into the pit while dancing to the SE lead-in song that precedes Jedi Rocks. Granted, it's like ten seconds, but I really liked it.

I liked that little piece of music too. Harmonica blues type-a-thing. Sounds more like what I'd expect to hear in that place than either OT or SE songs.

I'm not crazy about Lapti Nek, but I do like all the other music the Max Rebo band plays.

I really hate the SE song. Unlike the original song, it doesn't fit the setting or the mood. I remember sitting in the cinema feeling embarrassed as it played. I looked behind me to see if anyone else looked uncomfortable.
Many did.

Another thing about the SE song is that it doesn't sound anything like the other music the band plays. It's a totally different style and sound. The band in Star Wars plays two songs and while each is different, it sounds like it's the same band playing the songs.
