A couple weeks ago my mom got very sick and went to the hospital. They x-rayed her chest and found a mass in her lung.
After several tests and lots of nervous waiting, the results and all come back with no sign of cancer or tumor!
The mass is shrinking due to the antibiotics they put her on and Dr. thinks it'll be gone in a week.

Also, I had a job interview today and it went very well. Won't be the best job I ever got, but I needs money!

You keep saying there are JediS. There's a single Jedi and he keeps his saber hidden and only uses it under extreme circumstances.

You make it sound like the show is about a squad of renegade Jedi.

Only one? I've only seen two clips and I know there's Obi-Wan, New-Jedi-Guy, Aladdin-jedi-kid and possibly Yoda. That's at least three, maybe four.
Not to mention any bad-guy jedi types that might* pop up.

Personally, I'd have liked to see the Jedi wiped out by Ep.2 with none seen until Ep. 4 to give the Empire time to build it's propaganda against them and for a few generations to grow up without them around.

I know that having 4 jedis around in a large galaxy is pretty much the same as having none, but I just prefer the idea that Obi-Wan and Yoda were truly the last and were in extreme hiding. Not running around having crazy adventures with other lightsaber wielding wizards.

So, the show's not for me. No big deal. Most Star Wars isn't for me.

Wedge, Dak, Biggs....

Tank, Riekann (sp?), Dodonna, Needa, Piett...

Those aren't main cast and most aren't even named on screen.

There are also a number of EU characters who have real world names. Mara Jade, Nomi Sunrider, Alexandra Winger, Shira Brie, Zak Arranda, Gav and Jori Daragon, Keiran Halcyon, Celeste Morne, Callista Ming, etc, etc.

There's what I'm lookin' for. Like I said, I don't know the PT or EU very well. Seems that all the characters I hear about have silly sci-fi space names.
Still, those names sound very exotic compared with the names of the OT cast.

Most people today don't believe in Zeus, but they don't deny that the Greeks existed.

more people believe in exorcists than exorcism.

Ok, so people believed there were Jedis but they had no power. But here we have more Jedis who obviously do have power. Yet soon no one will believe it.
That's lame.

I believe in exorcists because I've seen em. I'm skeptical of exorcism because I haven't. But if there were exorcists runnin' around yankin' demons outta people, there's no way I'd claim it was all made up a couple years latter, nor would the world at large.

Why do characters post ROTJ have to have weird space-names?
The characters in the OT had normal names. Luke, Ben, Han, Leia, Lando. But in the PT and EU (what little I know of both) the new characters all seem to have silly sci-fi type names. Seems goofy to me.
I'm pretty sure that trend will continue into the ST.

I know, I can't move for people called Lando in my neck of the woods.

You may not know anyone by that name, but it is a real name.
And Obi-Wan isn't that weird. Sounds Asian and he's a weird wizard so he gets a pass on having a weird name.

As for Anakin, yeah, that's a weird one, but an occasional odd name doesn't bother me. Maybe the EU isn't as bad about this as I believe, but it seems every character has some weird name, where as in the OT the main cast had normal names.

One way you can solve the fading problem is by having Yoda and Ben die in the Clone Wars and their physical bodies in the OT are created by the Force to maintain it's balance...

Yikes... Gotta say, I'm not into that one at all.

Bingowings said:

That way the PT would actually enhance aspects of the OT without having to change it (which is how it should always have been).

The changes you're talking about actually change the OT dramatically. Even if they don't change the editing, it changes the characters and story.
Besides, the problem doesn't start or even come from the PT, it's in Jedi.

I don't like the PT and I don't think a time will come when I incorporate it (in any form) into my personal cannon. Anakin fading like Ben and Yoda clears up the force ghosts thing without having to watch the PT in order for the OT to make sense. Having Anakin disappear also makes for a better visual redemption and would make the scene stronger in my opinion.

God, that looks terrible. The art/character design and the dialog are just awful. And more jedis and lightsabers in an era where that kinda thing was supposed to have been non-existant for so long that the galaxy at large believes they never existed.
This looks embarrassingly lame.

I don't need to know the whys, but I'd like it to at least be consistent.
In Star Wars, Obi-Wan disappeared because he's a wizard of some kind and that's what happens.
In Jedi, Yoda disappears because the first film established that that's what happens. Anakin doesn't, but he was a bad guy, so maybe he doesn't get the same rewards.... only he does. So it doesn't make sense.
Then the PT made it all even worse and made no effort to explain this weird thing that happens twice for no reason except maybe to avoid having an old man sliced in half on screen in an adventure for all ages.
So, I say all Jedi who die but don't disappear can't come back or contact the living. All who come back as telepathic ghost people should also disappear when they die.
Again, I don't need to know the whys, I'd just like consistency.
KnowwhatImean?

yeah, I don't disagree with that....as long as it's left vague and not given a silly explanation ala George.

Yeah, same here. The official explanation that 005 posted is ridiculous!

But, I seem to remember Ady saying he wouldn't be making Anakin disappear...
Did I make that up?
And if not, is he still firm on that decision?

It may make the funeral pyre scene a bit strange as Luke would just be torching the suit...
But I think it would still work as personal closure for Luke- a funeral for his father and destroying the visual remains of his dark side.

Any opinions?

Obi-Wan's cloak probably should have suffered some type of burns in the movie we saw.

Considering Vader tries to put the imaginary fire out with his foot I would say so too.

I always figured that was him confusedly confirming that Obi-Wan had disappeared; making sure there wasn't a body in the cloak.

 Ha! I hate that shot.

According to the PT, no one know how to make themselves a Force Ghost until Qui-Gon figured it out after he died (?!), and he taught Yoda who taught Obi-Wan. Which, of course, begs the question on how Anakin himself does it.

 Wow, that's really stupid.
The ghost thing has been weird since ROTJ though.
Why didn't Anakin disappear? I think it would work nicely as a confirmation that Luke did in fact save him and make more sense that he appears to Luke along with Obi-Wan and Yoda. It would also be a cool visual to see his head disappear and the suit go limp and work metaphorically as his good self goes on to the spirit world leaving his dark side behind- the suit being a manifestation of his evil.

Umm.. that got a bit.. hmm..

Anybody else hate that shot of Vader stepping on Obi-Wans cloak after he kills him? Like he's goin' "HUH?? Where'd he go, George??"
This is the same guy who helped the Empire bring the Jedi to near extinction and he hasn't seen that happen before? Doesn't seem right to me.
I know a shot needs to be there to show the audience that Ben did in fact disappear, but I'd really like to see a new shot of the empty cloak hitting the ground replace that one.

Or maybe I've got it all wrong. I don't know the PT or EU, so maybe that was the first time a Jedi "became one with the force" (giggity) and Vader truly didn't know what just happened.
