I love those dvglzv covers!
I love those dvglzv covers!
Ok, I’m ready to buy this thing. Any word on a physical release?
Just finished the last 3 episodes.
I really liked this. I’ll probably binge the whole thing on Monday.
So anyway, yeah, never noticed that Luke claims Vader is on the moon before he arrives.
Wrong. “Turn your brain off & don’t think about it” is always terrible advice.
So pic one.
It’s just something I never noticed. I haven’t caught every detail.
So what? You also shouldn’t think about it at all.
So please stop posting when you’re just trying to cause arguments on every thread as it seems.
You’ve got no point & I’m not starting arguments, but contributing to a conversation. A conversation that the others involved with don’t seem to be pissy about.
I encourage you to go through my post history & point out to the mods where I’m starting arguments.
So yesterday, I watched the 2006 Star Wars DVD release. Included was “supposedly” the original version of the film. However,I noticed that the human version of Jabba the Hutt was not included. Now was this scene included in the original release of the film or it was cut which explains why it isn’t there? This has really bugged me. Do you any of you know the answer?
This is a fantastic example of why erasing history is wrong & damaging.

See there’s your idea for a 3.0 edition; include an option to watch the film with its original 1981 Episode IV crawl in addition to the original one.
The opening fly over is different too. It would also give the opportunity for different sound mixes.
I know all about the RD’s & in some ways prefer them to the films.
Animated versions could easily be my favorite Star Wars thing.
Take the Star Wars radio dramas and make them into animated films.
How, in all of the Hell, is this a “Bad Idea”?
But for real, Dennis Lawson dubbing over Wedge’s lines in IV and V would have been nice. It would have eliminated “Fake Wedge” before “Fake Wedge” became a thing!
My brain is misfiring. What is this about?
JEDIT: I got ya now.
I’d never seen that. Very cool!
Two chapters into A Princess of Mars.
What do you think so far?
Starship Trooper - 1997 - 6/10
oh why, oh why, has no one in the fan-edit world ever given this gem an adult overhaul.Because what you’re suggesting would remove the satire & therefore the entire point of the film.
The novel wasn’t satirical, so there’s merit to a “purist cut”.
Sure, but it’s obviously what the film was going for & removing that, unfortunately, would make it a very bland film instead of something that more closely resembles the book.
The biggest change in ESB was the color grading. Where Hoth was originally white, in the SE it is blue. I am torn on the change, because I grew up with the SE color grade and I never hated it.
It’s not just the snow. The blue tint has been applied to the entire film & it changes all of the colors for the worse.
I’d say that the whole “turn your brain off” kind of has to be applied to a lot of sci-fi and especially fantasy (and SW is obviously both), otherwise you wouldn’t have much of a story at all. As long as it’s balanced, and the whole narrative itself makes sense, then I think it’s ok to stretch your suspension of disbelief or bend the rules a little. I mean ESB, though generally considered the best SW films, really is the most nonsensical one of them all. The continuity of that film is a complete mess if you try to make sense of it (at face value anyway), and some scenes breaks physics even by SW standards. But, it all makes sense as a dramatic narrative and that’s what makes it a good film and justifies all the weird logic IMO.
You don’t have to turn your brain off to suspend belief.
Something can be fantastical & even silly while still making sense within it’s own context.
This is a very different topic though.
So anyway, yeah, never noticed that Luke claims Vader is on the moon before he arrives.
Neat bit of trivia & a welcome contender for a Revisited change.
Welcome to the forums, Dualist!
Good idea to continue these types of threads.
I love the Tyler Stout posters. Total classics.

Amongst the ESB Changes, I’m caught in the middle:
The Wampa Cave: I like the original suspense of not seeing the monster, but it just comes out of nowhere once Luke is freed, which is a bit of a continuity issue for me.
Luke is struggling to free himself in time. He’s woken by the creatures roar & it’s clear that it’s on it’s way. It doesn’t “come out of nowhere.” The scene makes sense.
Why, he’s excellent as Senator Palpatine. Actually, one of the few highlights of the PT.
You might be right. Haven’t watched the PT since 2006 & won’t ever again. His Emperor in RotS was absolutely silly though.
Well, he might have been on the other side of the moon for all we know.
Maybe? But it doesn’t make visual sense. You shouldn’t have to rationalize it.
You also shouldn’t think about it at all.
Wrong. “Turn your brain off & don’t think about it” is always terrible advice.
When the Star Wars audio mix was revised for home video starting in 85, they brought some of the mono mix effects into the stereo/surround tracks. I’m not sure when they incorporated the targeting computer noises, but it was in one of those later revisions.
Would this stereo mix have been attached to the 1980 A New Hope release, or did it not appear until home video?
It’s another reason I’d love to have A New Hope Depecialized.
I’ve ordered it, but haven’t got it yet.
Love this movie!
I’d say this is a perfect place to voice frustration about the situation. Blow off all the steam ya want, we’re all pals.
I think the mind of “We want the version we like” is coming across stronger than “Erasing history is wrong” & that makes some view the frustration/anger as silly/misplaced. Many conversations lately have revolved around this, and I think some are reading that as aggression.Yeah point taken, but let’s take your statement about “Erasing history is wrong” you can look at that as the theatrical cut of a film not being released in high quality as is the main cause for Star Wars.
But you can also take this as the film was tampered with by the studio perhaps due to time restraints bums on seats in cinemas or imposed re-shoots.
This isn’t the same at all. Nor are any of the other examples you brought up.
Not the same ballpark, not the same sport.
Dunno how I’ve missed this!
Devo is a favorite of mine!
Have you considered including their apperance on Yo! Gabba Gabba! ? They preform the Still Workin’ remix of Watch Us Work It.
Wouldn’t it be better to have Anakin fade away in ROTJ for consistency? Then Luke would just burn the suit to honor his father’s redemption or whatever.
That ruins his ghost showing up & revealing his redemption, which is why he doesn’t disappear as-is.
