X-Wing or Y-Wing, which ship would you prefer?
Time

I’m seeing Rogue Squadron thrown around, and that was cool, but did any of you play X-Wing?
That’s the good stuff. Really makes you feel like you have joined the Rebellion & are really in the cockpit flying these ships! TIE Fighter was even better in some ways, worse in others. (it get’s all EU with it’s ship design)
Why there’s no modern remake actually boggles my mind.

The Drunk Thread (was: The Durnk Thread)
Time

It’s been Sailor Jerry shots & Red Diamond sweet tea this evening. That’s my usual.
Also had a couple Kona Brewing “Big Wave” golden ales. My favorite beer. Or one of em.

Been listening to the Specials, Devo, White Zombie, Weird Al & Reverend Horton Heat. More to come.

I wish I could pour you a couple drinks here at my personal tiki bar. I think most of us would have a good chat!
Cheers, you sons of guns!

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

It’s still going, I assure you. After all, Ady’s not the “throwing in the towel” type of guy. Not even personal stuff could stop him from doing ESB. The only thing he gave up on in Revisited was the prequels.

Trust me, if the Mouse says “Stop”, Ady will.
But, looks like they’re being very cool about this. Very cool.

The amount I watched was more than enough to inform me what the film was like and whether I’d enjoy watching it or not.

That’s fair. I’m just poking at ya.

the real reason Star Wars did not win is because of its genre.

That’s a fact. It was robbed.

ANDOR - Disney+ Series - A General Discussion Thread
Time

I really like R1, but, for me, it’s got the “unreliable narrator” thing going on. Many things don’t line up with my head canon. (the MonCalamari joining the Rebellion before ANH, for instance)
So, I’m interested in this show, but I’ll have to place it in the same alternate category. Which I’ll be happy to do if it’s good!

I saw Annie Hall was on amazon Prime so I thought I’d give it a watch. This dreck beat Star Wars as best picture in 1977? WTF!?

It was so awful I couldn’t finish it. Turned it off after about 20 or 30 mins. And that was being generous. I wanted to stop after about 10 mins but tried to give it the benefit of the doubt.

But geez. It’s basically a pathetic, miserable man being pathetic and miserable and making everyone around him miserable too. What was wrong with people that they would vote for this trash over Star Wars?

lolno.
Star Wars should have won, but.

How do you feel about Star Wars being re-titled A New Hope in 1981?

it kinda obligated Lucasfilm to make the prequels because you couldn’t have episodes 4, 5, and 6 without 1, 2, and 3, otherwise it looks stupid.

Totally disagree. Not having the beginning of the story was cool & interesting. As if those stories were lost to time with this all happening “A Long Time Ago.”

The Princess of Alderaan would have been such a better title…

I’ve seen that passed around, & I disagree.
If Leia was the main character, maybe. But it’s clearly Luke’s story.
(Also, the aping of Edgar Rice Burroughs is right on the nose. Dunno If I hate that or love it.)

Leia may not be the main character, but she sets things in motion, and keep them in motion. She’s basically giving (direct and indirect) orders to the male characters throughout the movie!

Sure, but she isn’t the movies focus enough to title the film after her.
If we’re gonna change the title, I’d rather it be one that references the overarching events than any one character.

How is that different from A Princess of Mars? That princess wasn’t the main protagonist either.

I can’t speak for that. Only how it works as a title for this Star Wars film. And I don’t think it works.
She’s more Rebel Traitor than Princess in the film. The Princess thing is mostly a ruse.
Just an opinion.

Also, this discussion belongs in the SW Random thoughts thread.
Maybe the whole thread does, but we’re off topic here.

I think the bad formatting and the tilt missing the music cue makes it a different (and worse) experience than the original.

Funny to note that even the earliest changes were poorly implemented.
Like the title change or hate it, it can’t be denied that the text no longer matches the music.
Ady fixed it, which proves that it was just sloppily done, like all the changes to follow…

^ Totally agree. That’s why I say it’s just my own nerdy semantics.
There’s nothing that makes the '77 & '81 cuts different enough, I just like thinking of SW’77 & ANH as separate films.
This is a personal fan thing. I’d never argue that Star Wars & A New Hope are different movies. Even if the 97 & on versions feel like a totally different film to me.

Having watched it in the theater 5 times in 1977, and changing my life in the process, this film will always be “Star Wars” to me.

I think we all agree that the 1977 film was, is & will always be “Star Wars”.
But what about the 2019 version? Would you still consider that thing the same film? I can’t.
