I made a few screenshot comparisons from the first act. I can make more if anyone is interested…

I really appreciate these! I hope you can do a few more before Saturday. I’m gonna use a handful of em to show a small audience what they’re getting into.

Did adywan explain why he removed the Tibanna gas from empire?

The Special Edition thing? Probably he didn’t like it because it distracted from the actual city.

Also were there scenes or dialog removed that weren’t mention on swrevisited wordpress?

I don’t think so.

Oh ok thanks just thought he made a continuity error because it’s a Tibanna gas city after all.

How would that be a continuity error?

Because where is the gas? the gas is show in all star wars media on bespin

Just because we don’t SEE the mining doesn’t mean it wasn’t happening. They didn’t add the facility to the SE to address an error, they added it because they wanted to fill empty space in a painting with something new and shiny.

Are the clouds the gas? Is the gas volatile? How could you fly a ship through them? These are questions that can be answered simply by saying the gas is further down in the atmosphere than the city. Putting a facility that close to the city begs all of those questions.

(I know who started this, but, still…)
I’ve always thought the situation was that the mining was being done down on the planet and that’s why they live up in the clouds.
I never understood what those SE floating gas tanks were supposed to be used for anyways.
The Revisited version is beautiful and amazing!

Because this edit was too good to be true for me I just have to ask this question: Was there anything from TESB that didn’t get fixed?

Leia kissing Luke 😄

Seriously, while a large majority of known issues have been fixed there are a few that are still in the film. Some that you’ll have to live with, and a few that could possibly be fixed…

For the record, I wouldn’t “fix” the kiss, it’s as much a part of the movie as “No, I am your father” is. I don’t think there’s a single big thing or nitpick he has missed. Though he has introduced a couple new small issues (visible layer masks, typos), which I trust will be resolved when the BD-25 version comes out.

I’m also not a fan of the new title crawl, but that’s just me. The font looks a bit too thin, and it doesn’t look right to me without gate weave.

in one shot she has her hands down while kissing him then in the next shot her arms are around him.

There’s TONS of that in every film, and yes there are still several instances of characters changing positions between shots in ESB:R. That’s just the way it is.

I can endorse all of this.

My TCM binge continues.

I always read TCM as Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I wanted to tell you to make sure you start with the original. And then stop when that one’s over.

What Special Edition changes (if any) did people like?

I actually didn’t hate putting Haydn in Return of the Jedi.

Wait: hear me out! Believe me: I’m as shocked as anyone to say this, lol. But when Phantom Menace came out, they released a timeline of the Star Wars universe. Phantom Menace took place 32 years before Star Wars. And Lucas commented on how he changed Anakin to being 9 years old.

Well that means Anakin is 41 years old in Star Wars, and he’s probably-what?-44 or 45 in Return of the Jedi.

When they cast Anakin in Return of the Jedi they cast a contemporary of Alec Guiness. Sebastian Shaw was (if I remember right) in his early seventies when he played Anakin. That’s 30 years older than the character would actually be.

So I think that’s one change that wasn’t actually too bad.

ALANNAH MYLES: ALANNAH MYLES

  • “Kick Start My Heart” – 9/10

Just looked this up to see if it was a cover of the Motley Crue song of the same name (one of the most rockin’ songs ever).
It’s an original, but it sounds exactly like Def Leopard with a female singer! Interesting. I don’t like Def Leopard, but it was interesting. (I don’t much like Motley Crue either, but KSMH is a great song.)

Kind of a silly lawsuit, but imagine if somebody sued over the SE’s being passed off as the originals? 😉

😃 Good luck the the person who ordered the 007 boxset with ‘all’ the James Bond films in - companies should be more careful with the words described to sell their product to the public.

They do actually have the list of films in the box that are included… The whole lawsuit is completely just being stupid.

It may be petty, but where do you draw the line? You can’t just say something is something it isn’t or that something contains things it doesn’t.
That the SE OT is now advertised and sold as just the OT bugs me…

But tell us how you really feel.

Believe it or not, I kind of like his Halloween films. No, I’m not kidding.

So did I. It was the only remake of a horror film I actually liked.

You didn’t like the remakes of The Thing or The Fly?
You suck at things.

I will always love David Cronenburgs’s The Fly.

DuracellEnergizer said:

Or The Blob, for that matter.

How could you not love the special effects from that movie!?

The Thing (2011) was not a remake, it was a prequel and yes I did like it.

“John Carpenter’s The Thing” is a remake of “The Thing From Another World”.

My mistake, I’ve never seen The Thing From Another World but John Carpenter’s The Thing is a special effects achievement.

I like you again! 😄
