General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

Re-posting this from another thread, but looking for any feed back on the idea. It’s been personal canon to me for years, but I’m interested in what others might think.

She was once Beru Skywalker, Anikins sister. She was never trained, but is force sensitive and can see things before they happen. She married Owen Lars who never agreed with such “wizardry”. She stayed behind with Owen while her brother left on an “idealistic crusade” with Obi-Wan.
Watch the films with this in mind and it works just as well as Obi-Wan’s twisting the truth to Luke.
For me, it makes the entire backstory more interesting as both Owen and Beru would be strongly connected to and involved with the plot of the PT. It would give an opportunity for a good female character and much better relationship dynamics.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Watched this with a small group this afternoon. It went over very well.
After Yoda had been onscreen for a bit, one of my friends said “Am I crazy or is Yoda… real now?” We all had a laugh and my brother said “That’s what’s taken so long. Guy had to go out and find a real Yoda. That’s dedication.” 😃
(Oh, and that AT-AT/AT-ST double kill had the whole room cheering out loud!)

Well, we agree with each other. you can spend your whole life bitching about dumb movies if ya wanna. Your choice. But, why would you?

I do enjoy a good laugh at the PT’s expense. Plinkett’s reviews are a riot, mainly because I agree with all of his points. But I don’t hang out where PT fans gather and preach my PT Hate as if it’s life-saving gospel while belittling anyone who disagrees. There are certainly some here who do just that with the Disney films.

Disney is the only one making them and if they make shitty ones people end up without Star Wars.

That’s not true at all. I haven’t been crazy about Disney’s Starwars output, but I still have Star Wars.

if they make shitty ones people who want new Star Wars end up with shitty new Star Wars.

That’s true, but I just don’t see why one can’t be happy with what they already like. If they make more of that thing and you don’t like it, no big deal, you still have the ones you love. If they make more and you do like it, then it’s just a nice bonus.
Take what you like, leave what you don’t.
The franchise doesn’t owe you anything.

Video Games - a general discussion thread

That’s almost an immediate deal breaker for me… Man that’s a bummer. I play Zelda games almost entirely for the atmosphere and music is a big part of that.

It still is. Don’t worry.
It’s more sparse than usual at times, but it’s all used to great effect. Lot’s of callbacks hidden in the melodies. Very organic and “live”. Check out the track list for the full soundtrack on youtube. Tons of music!
There aren’t as many looped melodies, but the music still enhances the mood just as well as any LOZ title. The new approach was surprising, but it works wonderfully. A looped overworld theme just would not work for this game.
It’s not my favorite LOZ soundtrack (that’s a toss up between AOL, ALTTP & SS), but it fit’s this wonderful game like a glove.

Why isn’t it enough to just not watch it if you don’t like it? Why wish it didn’t exist so even those that enjoy it can’t watch it?

Yes! I hate the PT and didn’t care for TFA, but I watched ESB this afternoon and, know what?
I still liked it! Can you imagine?
And guess what else? I didn’t like the PT at all, so I just don’t watch it!
Again, can you even imagine such a thing??
I must be the strangest person.

It’s nice too see several users who’ve been gone popping back in. But will they stay?
And Bingo should post more.
And Duracell should use his awesome avatar with him and the lasers and the 3d glasses.
And Ender should send me a new, updated pic to keep in my wallet.

I told you, I don’t have any pictures of my breasts with a breastfeeding child! That’s not what nursing school was about!

Yeah, yeah. You keep sayin’ that…

Has anybody been able to spot Ady in his cameo yet? Am I right in thinking he’s a soldier on Hoth somewhere? Is he recognisable or is he very tiny?

Oh! I forgot to even look and

Oh man, the Ady cameo! There’s so many added characters he could be anywhere!

This was my next thought!

Also, wasn’t he going to add a Kershner cameo, or did I dream that up?

Childhood Misconceptions (aka The Trap Thread, but misconceptions still welcome)
Time

Darth Lucas said:

More of a misunderstanding than a misconception, but I used to think “There is another” referred to Darth Vader, because he ultimately is the one who defeats the emperor and I thought Yoda had the foresight to see this. Mind you I was very young at the time and the only prequel that had yet been released was TPM. Looking back, my misunderstanding sounds like something GL would ret-con into being “his original intention” nowadays.

Bingowings said:

I think this is just evidence of you young Darth Lucas being more insightful than middle-aged George Lucas.
Using this interpretation you can short cut the originally intended sister plot to have ROTJ as the ‘final’ episode without the need to make Leia Luke’s sister.

Yeah, I prefer that over “Oh, it was your sister. We could have used her if you failed. No big deal.”

In the scene when Luke is calling out to Leia I took it that the reason she was able to hear him was because deep down it was Luke who she truly loved not Han.

It might have been the original intention of the creative crew at that time, since Han was later supposed to die in EpVI and Luke was supposed to go looking for his sister who is not Leia.

Nah, it’s clearly meant to be through the force. “True love” doesn’t enable telepathic communication. And Han and Leia just confessed their love for one another. Luke’s outta that picture. Actually, she never shows any romantic interest in Luke in the films. ROTJ stupidly blurs this line by making Han and Leia forget their time together during entire previous movie, but at the end of ESB it’s clear when this issue stands.

4K restoration on Star Wars

It’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan. We have new movies and animated series and books

I don’t care about any of that, but what makes it a great time to be a fan is that the fan-restorations have reached a point that I don’t feel ripped off while watching em and they are still getting better. ESB:R is beyond amazing and soon the project for ROTJ:R will be firing up.
I have no need for any of the current official product, but the fans have made Star Wars great again.
