Are The Prequels That Bad?

But you did say that to enjoy these movies you have to look past the terrible acting, script, characters, plot points, issues and mistakes. What’s left to enjoy?

The ideas?

The only new ideas I liked in the PT were the podracer vehicles. I still really like all the different designs in both visual and audio. Seems very StarWarsy to me. I also liked the Tuskins takin’ pot-shots.
But I hate the cartoonish racers, the stupid announcers (in design, dialog, and “performance”), the fake-looking spectators, that it’s a big NASCAR type sports event, Jabba and Co.'s involvement, The nonsensical bet surrounding the whole event, the “comedic relief” at the expense of families grieving over the death of loved ones/parents…

But most of all I hate the fact that it sets up Anikin to be a great pilot… but then everything he does at the end of the film is an accident! From taking off, to finding the battle, surviving attack, entering the control ship, stopping in the just right place and facing just the right direction to (again accidentally) fire the missiles to hit the one thing that’ll blow up the whole ship) So there is no payoff at all for having sat through that whole stupid race in the middle of the film.
So even the one aspect I like leaves a bad taste…

I’ve hated all of Rob Zombies films (Though I think House of 1000 Corpses could be edited into a pretty good throwback. Sid Haig, Bill Mosely, Dwight Schrute and Chris Hardwick all give fantastic performances).
Oddly enough, White Zombie is one of my top favorite bands and I’ve enjoyed a few songs from all of his solo albums except Educated Horses. That one sounds like his films.
His music is always so fun. His films are always so not.

They’re just apples soaked in grape juice.
Disappointing as all hell.
When I heard about em, I was hoping for apple sized grapes.

Are they all like that though? The one I had was purple on the inside, but not the outside, and truly tasted like a grape flavored apple.

Yep. They’re just as you said, “grape flavored apples”. Just apples that have soaked up grape juice.

Using a special patented process we combine concentrated grape flavor with pure water then gently bathe the apples in this delicious grape mixture.

There’s no Step 2. That’s it. Apples soaked in grape juice.
(Sorry, not grape juice but “concentrated grape flavor and water”…)

But I must feel outraged for whatever reason!

Nope. I’m not outraged. Myself and others, like Density, are worried

It’s a movie. Not to mention it’s a spin-off. There’s literally no reason to be worried because if it sucks, so what?

I now am very aware that we have a different level of care for the spin offs LOL

That’s my level of care for every move ever made. Like I just said earlier,

It’s just a story some people came up with. If it’s not to your liking, you can just ignore it.

The original Alien is the only film in that franchise better than the original Friday the 13th.
(I do like Aliens & Alien3 by the way.)

Worser than the worst Friday the 13th maybe? That’s pretty worse - I don’t think it’s the worstest out of any of those.

There’s little chance of this new Alien movie being worse than Takes Manhattan.

Anybody else think it’s dumb that Jabba is constantly referred to as “Jabba the Hutt” when Hutt is just the species he is? When I was a little kid, I thought “Hutt” must mean “mob boss” or something.

In old mythology sometimes people are referred to by their ethnicity if it’s foreign to the context the story is set in. I’m recalling a biblical character referred to as Jesham the Arab, for example.

I know what you mean, but in the SW galaxy creatures from all over to travel everywhere and mixed society seems to be the norm.
Heck, in Jabba’s palace, everybody seems to be from somewhere else.
Jabba’s really not foreign in the context he’s presented in. But he is presented as being a powerful crime lord, so it just seems to make more sense if “the Hutt” is his title, a la “the Godfather”.
I’m not sayin’ this was ever the intention, but it works for me.

I had to Google “NOES” because I couldn’t figure out what you people were talking about.

I’m handing in my horror movie fan membership card - I don’t deserve it.

Forgiveness, please.

Nah, I’ve read enough from ya to know you deserve to be a card carrying member.
It’s all these dumb acronyms. I usually don’t recognize what they mean right away.

Oh, and to those resorting to the oh-so-amusing “You only hate horror movies if they’re new” strawman argument

We’re just trying to make sense of the nonsensical.

There’s nothing nonsensical about not liking The Conjuring.
I didn’t know it was so well liked.

Now where’s that Top Gun gif. . . .

Right here-
