Yeah I guess that would feel more Star Warsy for them to scatter. If they’re chasing someone who got away, though, why would they do a sudden about face in empty space? They’re not about to crash into anything? And why fly in different directions instead of forming up together?
Would it be possible for them to abruptly break apart, sort of like how a TIE in TFA breaks from chasing POE right after he enters the rip in the thermal oscillator? Like there’s no point going straight anymore since their prey is totally gone?

It could refer to Poe altering or skipping proper lightspeed calculations causing the Falcon to be damaged on the jump to hyperspace. Either way it’s just nebulous technobabble without the actual skipping scene.
FWIW, this is how it would read to me too. Poe is about to do something crazy to escape, Chewy reacts to it, the Falcon bursts through an ice wall into hyperspace. It seems like that would be enough to damage the Falcon and justify an argument with Rey about it. The “skipping” part would just sound like random technobabble to me.
No, it’s actually on Poes hair. It’s a large brush clone just above Poes right eye. Could be on a separate layer? I’ll send you a screenshot if it helps?

No worries at all! People use many different methods to share shots here. I tend to use vimeo to share work-in-progress, and then when it’s done vimeo allows you to make the clip downloadable, which puts a download button next to the player (and if you click “Original” when downloading it be the exact file uploaded, so in my case prores files). I also use google drive, which seems to be more and more popular here. It’s nice because, like vimeo, allows you to share file and uses youtube’s player if you don’t want to download!
Edit: Agree with liambrazier about password-protection, that’s one of the things I like about vimeo!

I think I even sent you a youtube PM about it a while back, asking if we could use it here, but I ended up just doing it anyway for fun (had a lot of time in lockdown). Your tutorial gave me some ideas for the tracking and I think the end results were similar. Your work is great, and it’s always fantastic to see under the hood!

I like option B as well! The dialogue feels more complete that way, and as others have mentioned, things that happen off-camera get referenced all of the time in Star Wars.
I also like the banter between characters; imo, it’s part of what makes the ST feel more like the OT than the stilted dialogue of the prequels. I’m not sure I understand what’s wrong with Finn’s “Always” line? To me, he’s showing some personality and establishing that these characters have spent some time together between movies. It seems like pretty economical story-telling.

Yeah, that was always an issue with this new shot. It requires some playfulness with time. It’s probably simpler to just leave it out!
Yeah, augmenting it would be ideal. If the original painting could be grafted onto Kef Bir that’d be incredible, too. (Like just that chunk of it.)
Is that the only shot of Kef Bir from space? You could probably swap the most visible texture parts of the two moons with each other. Just need to rotoscope the Falcon.

I moved Kylo over a bit, and I reversed the direction of the camera. This way, Kylo is moving out of frame and the focus is drawn towards the ship. I also adjusted the music timing to hit on the wipe.
I’m with snooker. If anything, it’s a nice little reference, but I don’t think it couldn’t just be another similar moon.
I also don’t think removing it would look very good because you’d just be leaving an empty space for the Falcon to jump to in the shot. You could try to swap/change the planet texture.

It’s been brought up before, but looking at it again, the lighting of the shot is very different and probably wouldn’t match the forest shots.
I know this would be creating more work for myself, but I kind of feel like the best buffer shot would be the ties flying into the atmosphere (like the Rogue One shot coming through the clouds). That would establish continuity with the opening shot, while also allowing for the idea that the ties could be a patrol overseeing what’s happening on the ground, instead of them being with the actual troop carriers landing. I don’t have the Rogue One shot, but if someone sends it to me I could try it sometime?
