I like the idea of ending on the group shot, but it seems very abrupt. I’m wondering if you could switch the last two shots to keep the length the same. Go outside to see the Falcon in hyperspace and then back inside to end on the group shot.
I’ll probably experiment with that.
I had an idea for the “Stormtrooper in Elevator” scene. If you let it play out a few seconds more, there’s a closeup of Rose, then DJ, then BB8 who makes a funny sound, then you could hard cut to them walking out of the elevator. I think that might play up the humor of the scene a bit more.
Just my two cents.
Also, where in the film are you inserting the “Elevator” scene? I couldn’t figure out a good place to put it.
Here are a few edits I put together myself. I’m doing a really light edit of the movie, removing just the bits I found most bothersome and adding a couple deleted scenes I feel add to the film. Here are just a few examples:

Just to add to your list, I believe the exterior of the shuttle when Rose and Finn escape the supremacy is also unfinished. It’s not the most noticeable, but there’s tape and stuff below the cockpit window.
Nice edits. I did a similar one for the fathier escape (smash-cutting to the teacup), but did it a bit earlier when Rose looks like she’s hatching a plan, so as to remove the children.
I think a lot of people will be using the teacup to shorten the fathier chase.

For this one, which I commented on another thread, there needs to be the addition of the kid looking up and smirking at the Fathier to THEN go to the teacup. From the sounds of it the music/sound timing is the issue … but someone with some skill could probably do that.

Yeah, the issue is that the lounge piano (“The Long Goodbye”) cross-fades with audio from the previous shot, so the first note isn’t usable. I just cut in a second later and it still works pretty well, but I’m trying to find a way to restore that first piano note.
For the ending, you can let the score play out as intended instead of cutting early. It builds to a nice climax and then you can quick cross-fade audio to the credits. I was able to do it and it plays very convincingly.
You will need to make a small audio cut somewhere inconspicuous to get it to line up right with the video.
Have you posted this sequence somewhere? I’d like to see (hear) what you are talking about.
I will try to upload mine later today. Though I saw one somewhere else that achieved the same effect, I’ll try to find it.

Poe’s Intro - The idea of having NO conversation between Poe and Hux, this can work, with Hux being puzzled by a lone light fighter and NOT firing on it right away since the X-wing boost happens right away. I would also like to see an edit that trims the conversation as opposed to eliminating it all the way. However, this does stand on itself very well.
Maz Convo - Any reduction to this scene is a plus. Nicely done!
Fathier Escape - Same view with the Maz Convo. I would have to watch it again, but man, if there was a quick scene of the kid looking up to the Fathier and smirk … then it cuts to the tea cup rattling … that would be great.
I agree that it works better with a shot of the kid looking up at the fathier, but I couldn’t get the audio to transition as smoothly doing that. I’m sure someone else who is better at these things will be able to figure that out.
Ending with Post-Credit scene - I REALLY like the idea of a post credit scene with the kid. I am not sure if the actually ending works right … it doesn’t seem right to me since it seems rushed.

EDIT: Also, make sure the credits music comes in at the very end of the wipe. That’s how the films do it, and it really helps to sell it as authentic.
I was also curious as to how you scored the “Luke Mourning” scene. The existing score in the deleted scene is used verbatim in the Jedi Library scene not long afterward and I want to try and avoid the repetition.

It unquestionably slows down the movie, but if you cut straight to the daily routine you miss the implied connection between Luke and Leia, which is what I love about it.
Nope, I mean unfinished visual effects (though the music will certainly cause headaches in a couple of the scenes). At the start of the jacket scene there’s some rough edges on Finn’s legs during the shot of BB-8.

I have to say adding back “Luke has a Moment” seems like a mistake to me, as it throws off the whole structure if you cut back to Leia there.
I’m curious to see if people can fix the minor technical issues in the jacket scene, the one where BB-8 shows the hologram, the caretaker scenes, the extended Supremacy incursion, and the scene where Finn and Rose head to Crait.
“Luke Has a Moment” definitely requires a restructure, which is what I spent most of last night doing. That scene cuts straight into Leia on the ship. I then added the “Jacket scene” which cuts to Poe and Leia’s altercation. After she says “Dead heroes, no leaders” there’s a few seconds hold on Poe’s face, which I used to wipe back to Ach-To to see Luke’s daily routine. That sequence plays out to the end of their conversation in the Jedi Library and then wipe from Rey’s face back to Finn looking at the display asking how Rey will be able to find them.
It’s not perfect, but it works pretty seamlessly. I think the trade-off is worth it.
By technical issues, are you talking mostly sound? I didn’t notice anything else wrong with the “Jacket scene”.
Has anyone tried restoring the “Luke Has a Moment” scene into the movie. I ask because I’m trying to do it myself, but my trouble is that the musical score for that short scene is reused later in the movie when Luke and Rey have their discussion inside the Jedi library tree.
Any thoughts on what to use to re-score Luke’s moment or the Jedi Library? I think it’ll be more difficult to re-score the Jedi Library scene due to the dialouge and the fact that the audio channels are not separated very well.
Not unexpected, but good for Johnny. Constantly scoring Star Wars movies must be exhausting for a man of his age.
Although it just occured to me that perhaps the show was originally created in 16x9 and cropped to 4x3 for broadcast.
Here’s hoping Nick doesn’t screw it up by cropping it to 16x9 or something. I’m actually very afraid that will happen.
I ended up seeing it in theater. To anyone else in my situation, I would say wait for video, or maybe even never see it.

If you’re a Star Wars fan, you should see the movie. It has a lot to offer even if it is flawed.

Any hints on how to mux this for Blu ray burning? I have tried multiple times with some of the other projects and if I use Tsmuxer, I get sound but no video. Thanks.
I use tsmuxer as well.
If you play the .mts file on your computer you won’t hear any audio. If you burn it to a blu ray and play it in your blu ray player the sound should work fine. This has been my experience anyway.
