Any update on this? I still remember this being almost impossible to obtain on Laser Disc then DVD back in day. Lots of Home Cinema retailers would use it in their demo setups.

Thanks.

Well… The 4k version is still in the works hdr became a problem so probably “just” 4K, I thought I had cracked atmos but it doesn’t seem there’s a way to add it to a video file just as a master file for delivery to netflix etc 😞 so yes it’s still coming just a lot slower than anticipated sorry I had problems with my eyes so I couldn’t look at a monitor 👎👎 🤞 it’s getting better but again it’s a slow process

Thanks for updating this. I love this demo so very much.

A couple of things, though.

It really would be awesome if you used true 4k sources once Indy comes out this summer. I know it’s heresy to say but I’m not a fan of using the scans unless absolutely necessary. There’s just so much more detail in the actual 4k scans.

We really should work on getting a scan of that THX trailer that ends the regular trailer. The one you used for the non-SE is nice but it’s definitely no replacement for the original.

Thanks again for doing this. Don’t want to come across as unappreciative!

It is my goal to have it all in 4k hdr and somehow remix it to atmos or dts:X, I did do a hdr pass test when I did the SE version, it worked then I got sidetracked but now with the 4k Indy’s due I will be doing a full 4k version (hdr too 🤞) then if willow ever makes it to 4k (possibly when the TV show hits) the circle will be complete 😊
As for the thx end trailer I have searched long and far for it but couldn’t find a version that didn’t drag the quality of the rest of it down, but since the tech has changed since I last looked I will have another look for it now 👍 👍

Hi it’s that time again 😃 you may be familiar witht he THX WOW! demo clip, i did a 1080p version a few years ago and have now done a version with the clips replaced with the 4K versions where available using the amazing work by the 4k77 and 4k83 guys, i then made a special edition version witha new section added as it’s not star wars without some unnecesarry additions lol these are v1’s that will gradualy be updated once we get everything in 4K (it will be a long wait as i’m guessing willow 4K isn’t on their list of priorities just yet!)

“Knight of the Juggernaut” part one aired on Spike yesterday.
Unfortunately, yet again a mono soundtrack.
I’m beginning to wonder if the stereo track for this one (and possibly “Burial Ground”) are lost forever!
“Burial Ground” should be on in a few days, so I’ll check that and update again.

they seem to be stereo after ep3 (on spike) are any of HD versions in stereo anywhwere?

was this always there or am i losing my mind?
Time

I remember being lucky enough to attend the UK premiere of the special edition, my biggest bug bear was the weird fake camera shake added to the shots of luke and han just before the tie attack on the falcon, and it’s bugged for forever since!
ok, so i’m now watching the silver screen edition and it happens there too! surely they got it wrong and used a n SE print or something for that shot, so i look it up and can’t find anything about it, i look up 8mm versions on youtube etc and ITS THERE TOO! i could swear up and down that it was not evident on any version i grew up with! am i losing it or has the fake camera shake always been there?
versions i grew up with
uk itv taping from tv 1982 iirc
first uk widescreen vhs

i had all the other versions too but the above were ones i watched the most
thanks 😃

Using DVD cover art to create BD cover art ......
Time

not the best way but what i do is use a blu-ray template in photoshop then copy and paste back front and spine individually and adjust them accordingly (spine is usually the trickiest, alot of chopping and blending!) then replace the dvd logos with blu-ray ones

failing that a google search for "xxxx blu cover" then frankenstein the best ones together

Hey pjvader

Great project by the way.

I took a look at your latest reconstruction version and I love the picture and sound, but there are still some sync issues with the sound when people are speaking and with certain sound effects - like the blaster shots and Indy firing his revolver for example.

could you give timestamps if possible please it all looks hunkydory here (always does lol!) even when burned to blu-ray,  thx

I think the sound is still off at some parts.  Not sure if offset as a whole.

For example around when the "don't get cocky kid", the blaster and gun shot sounds are definitely not in sync.

Oh and then start THX has some pops in it.  I can send you a better one.

Is it just me?

 RE:thx pops

i have tried mixing a clean thx broadway opening into the mix but have been able to do so, so far, as i need a programme that will allow me to mix in 5.1 and output 5.1 then strip it to individual wav files and still make sure it's in sync!

im ok with the way it sounds (i played it back in 11.4 and it still sounds amazing!) its go that 90's feel

the THX cinemas i used to got to always had crackly THX opening logos! and never any new ones!

the "lets go" bit is a nightmare as its so short, it looks off in the 3 original versions i have too though! i think its cause he is already starting his next line as its cuts away it was matched to the 720p thx.com version by syncing the 2 together by using opacity so i could see the both tracks (like tracing paper)

Sorry to be a picky bitch, but this is a "reconstruction", not a "preservation". Can you change the thread title to reflect that?

thanks,

thanks for the feedback im gonna start v3.0 2nt ((sorry for anyone who already downloaded it and is dissapointed with it)) (in reality its probably v327.4 by now! been working on it since february!)

i had alot of problems with the bitarate once it was burned to blu-ray (i rendered it at 100 cbr which played fine on the pc but stuttured on the players, so i did process of elimination and lowered it ending on 17 or 24 iirc it then played perfectly on the blu ray players ((2 panasonics and a toshiba)))

if anyone has any ideas or advice on the encoding im all ears! (ended up using adobe elements 12 as everything else failed on me! and my premiere didnt like the files!)

The 2 things that stand out to me the most, Luke says "i'm not afraid" is out of sync. The other is where Luke says "lets go" there is lines on the top and bottom of the video, plus i think his voice is some what out of sync there as well.

hmmmm! ok, can i ask what player you are using to watch it on please?

i feel a v3.0 coming on aarggggggghhhhhh lol!

if you would like the new v2.0 version please PM me and ill send you the direct link :) please be aware that you will need a suitable player to play it as the dts-HD track cant play on all programmes

powerdvd

media player classic

totalmedia theatre

it plays perfectly on the above, ive also burned it to blu-ray using both tsmuxer and multiavchd and it plays great no sync issues :)
