Hey, people, what do you think about this "lightning" (sorry, I have no idea how to call it properly in English, simply that animated "thing" on R2 right above Luke's hand). Is it re-worked or does it belong to the same category as the four-eyed stormtrooper ?
OK I finished only Star Wars. But after checking doubleofive's galery http://picasaweb.google.com/doubleofive/StarWarsSpecialEditionChangesHD I found many changes which I never noticed before. So basically the finished version is a hybrid, which features no CGI additions, Greedo doesn't shoot, Jabba doesn't appear etc. but still has reworked laser blasts, new skies, etc.
But I definitely plan to get back to it and re-work it again :)
I feel so stupid ... 3 years from my original post and I still haven't finished all 6 movies :-)

If they recomped all of the lightsabers, why are these still there?
http://www.thelightsaber.com/web/Goofs/ANH/anhgoofs.htm
Some of those are things they wouldn't have changed, but there are some terrible mistakes in there.
Great site, thanks.
I believe that if George would make a special edition which would ONLY correct all the errors and finish all the unfinished special effects, nobody would complain. Instead of correcting all errors we got Gungans, silly looking dinosaurs, comedic scenes which are not funny and a crappy looking CGI Jabba

Gary Kurtz (Producer - STAR WARS and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK): Gary revealed that he has not been involved at all on anything to do with the upcoming STAR WARS films on Blu-ray, though on the extras front, as far as he is aware, apart from the deleted scenes, the additional material will pretty much be all the documentaries and supplemental features found on previous releases in other formats.
*grain of salt* someone not involved saying what's to be included might not add up to much. But he's possibly been able to talk to those who are putting it together. wait and see we will.
Well that's actually good news. To see the Biggs scenes in "normal" quality is for me a reason to buy it.
Strange. I always thought that the SE of Aliens is the perfect movie :-)
Thanks , just wanted to be sure if there's nothing better available :-)
Hey guys,
what is the BEST source for the original 1977 crawl with the CORRECT starfield, planet, and the moon ?

Whoa!!
Not just Ponda Baba's arm, but his HEAD and what looks like maybe part of his torso? I've never seen this still.
This corresponds more to the way things went down in the novel, but certainly not what was shown on-screen. That's awesome, and I assume that you're making note of it for the doc, Jambe?

If you check the footage frame by frame, you will see that it WAS filmed exactly as it's written in the novel. But I have never before seen this photo, thanks :)
What was this thread about ?
So ... was the lucky buyer somebody from this forum ? :-)
PAL versions are available for many many years and they look good even on a full HD monitor :-) A real pity that the Tatooine scenes are pink in ANH :-(
If you want the widescreen G'Kar edition of the SE trilogy (PAL) just send me an PM, it would be interesting to have a comparison of 3 mostly changed versions
005 - it sounds like you don't have the SE on DVD. If yes, feel free to contact me :-)
This will be lovely :-) Looking forward to see the final product :-)

I didn't read the whole thread and am not the first person to notice this error
It's not an error, though. It's a joke.
Means a double "fail" for me :-)

I have no problem with this at all.
I would be happier if Lucas didn't write or direct them but let a more competent team put them together.
SW fan JJ Abrams would be ideal....or perhaps Christopher Nolan.

Please no JJ Abrams. He fucked Star Trek already

I have a feeling it is all to knock James Cameron to the side. I don't like James Cameron's movies, but I could definitely see why George would get back into the game. He wants to knock Avatar out of the park, and I guarantee he will fail at it.
I would only watch it if it had good names behind it. Nobody with a decent career would touch it, unless they had creative input.
further out in the Star Wars timeline. And by giving space in the timeline, possibly even as far as 100 years or 1,000 years in the Star Wars universe future, Lucas avoids having to make these stories “fit in” with what the previous stories have told.
If this is the route taken, there could be promise. In the end, I don't want to see Hamill, Ford, and Fisher in any Star Wars more films. Indy 4 was full of "look who it is" moments, and it ruined it. NEW CHARACTERS, NEW CHARACTERS.
Just something tells me, he is going to bring back everybody's favorite characters to attract viewers. Yeah, I would go see it, but that doesn't mean I will like it.
GET RID OF RICK BERMAN!!!
And hire a real professional
Ehm ... Rick Berman is the Star Trek guy, not the Star Wars guy
EDIT - sorry, I really should read the whole thread before answering :-)
I was never really interested in any of the "expanded universe" stuff.
The only book I read was the novelization of the original Star Wars. I have never bought any action figure and never heard the radio drama (or dramas?). I have never read any of the comics or novels, I simply thought it's a waste of time and to be honest, I thought the people who spend their time trying to collect all Star Wars information are - to say it politely - slightly weird :-)
But then I've seen the Clone Wars movie and I really liked it. I started to find out that I missed quite a lot of the officially released things. I started to watch the CG series this week, and I REALLY enjoy it very much. I guess I'm getting more and more nerdy :-)
But I fully agree with you, life was so easier when there was just one Star Wars trilogy. Less can be really sometimes more
The third episode sucked too much. I definitely was expecting to watch a GOOD movie when I went to the movie theatre, I didn't expect to see colourful garbage full of unrealistic CGI . The moment when Anakin turns to the dark side is probably the worst and the most illogical moment in the history of movie making.
Padme dyeing because she doesn't want to live ? WTF ? Showing the birth of Luke and Leia and ruining the big surprise of E6 ? Showing that Anakin is Darth Vader and ruining the surprise of E5 ? Showing Yoda, the little philosopher with a lightsaber ? Showing Palpatine with a lightsaber ? The guy who can shoot lightning from his arms ? Hiring a magnificent actor to play the movie villain and kill him at the beginning of the movie only to introduce a new crappy looking crappy written CGI villain ? A Jedi shooting somebody with a blaster ? Making the powerful OB1 look like a clumsy coward ?

The correct order is the order in which they were released:
1977 - Star Wars (aka Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope)
1978 - The Star Wars Holiday Special
1980 - Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
1983 - Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
1984 - The Ewok Adventure (aka Caravan of Courage)
1985 - Star Wars: Ewoks (Season 1)
1985 - Star Wars: Droids
1985 - Ewoks: The Battle for Endor
1986 - Droids: The Great Heep
1986 - Star Wars: Ewoks (Season 2)
1999 - Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
2002 - Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
2003 - Star Wars: Clone Wars (Seasons 1 and 2, DVD Volume One)
2005 - Star Wars: Clone Wars (Season 3, DVD Volume Two)
2005 - Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
2008 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Theatrical Film)
2008-Present - Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV Series)Personally, I'd just stop at 1983, while also skipping 1978, but that's just me.
If you're already a fan, then hey, go ahead and watch them in any order you want. But any chronological order just would not work for anyone who's never seen any Star Wars.
Well I personally love watching the Holiday Special after having a few beers :) To be honest it's better then the prequels :)
