Star Wars Digital HD Release .... April 10th

What I'm really curious about is wether they will release the deleted scenes that were only on the DVD in HD. Those would be useful for fanediting since they always stick out as SD on an HD fanedit.

Why would they do that? They upscaled the "new" scenes from 480i to 1080p in episode 1 and they look like shit. When they didn't re-do the scenes for the movie, I don't think they'll do it for some online bonus features.

Interesting. It's sad about Hulk, I think the 2003 movie is much better than the 2008 movie, the comic book style editing and transitions are pretty bad but at least it's not boring.

It's an interesting idea putting the first Captain America (and Agent Carter) to the beginning, the "other" story of it takes place between Thor and Avengers, and the "main" story is basically just a flashback, so I wouldn't personally put it to the beginning, but the rest seems similar to what I thought. I guess it hasn't been announced yet when will the Daredevil series take place?

Can somebody help a guy who wants to watch the whole MCU stuff as an intro to Avengers 2?

I guess it's something like ...

Ang Lee Hulk - is it a part of the MCU or a separate movie? TIH seems to work perfectly as a sequel to Hulk 2003.

Iron Man

The Incredible Hulk

Iron Man 2

A Funny Thing Happened on the way to Thor's Hammer - it's definitely sometimes before Thor, but when?

The Consultant - when does this take place? After TIH or after one of the Iron Man movies?

Thor

Captain America - The First Avenger

Agent Carter - 8 episodes

Agent Carter - One shot

Avengers

Item 47

Iron Man 3

All Hail The King

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episodes 1-7

Thor - The Dark World

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episodes 8-15 or 16

Captain America - The Winter Soldier

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - the rest of season 1

Guardians of the Galaxy

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - season 2

Is that all? I've read that Phil Coulson is in some of the animated cartoons, are they also part of the MCU or something different?

Do you think Disney will release the unaltered versions for DVD and blue ray?
Time

What are the 2011 Blurays?

Something like : Original negatives -> 1995 scan -> SE digital version -> 1997 SE prints -> 1080p scan with colour "correction" -> Lowry "restoration" -> 1080p DVD master -> more stupid digital changes -> 2011 Bluray master

So yes, the BDs are done from an early century 1080p scans of SE masters, but no, they didn't do it because "original negatives are nowhere to be found" but simply because GL for some reason considered the old horrible looking scans to be "good enough" and didn't want to spend money for doing it correctly.

Even if the rumours that the original negatives were modified to contain 1997 SE material (which I doubt, I simply refuse to believe they were THAT stupid), they still have finished prints of the original theatrical editions (including some Technicolor prints if I remember correctly). Even scanning these prints would be "good enough" for most of us

Does anyone else feel that the next Star Trek will be the last with the current cast.

I get a sense some of the actors may want to move on.

*crosses finger that this'll happen and lead to a reboot, a reboot that won't be Trek in name only this time around*

 But the cast is good.

Really? I like Karl Urban (or what's his name) as McCoy, and Simon Pegg as Scotty, but the rest are IMHO horribly, HORRIBLY misscast.

I wonder if he knows what happened to the TMP files?

I used to chat on IRC with a Foundation employee many years ago. (I can't recall their "real" name now.) They did share personal photos of when the TMP Enterprise miniature was uncrated for the animators to study. The poor gal was not only dirty and dusty, there were bug droppings!

I blame the Klingons. ;)

Isn't Darth Mojo still posting here ? He should know what happened to the TMP files

I hope that's true. I myself recall hearing that Digital Domain (the studio that did CGI for DS9, Voyager, and Insurrection) trashed all its old rendering files when the studio went through bankruptcy.

I'd much rather prefer that you be right and I wrong on this.

The version I've heard is an employee kept backups of the files. Where the truth lies is anyone's guess.

Robert Bonchune from Foundation Imaging said in an interview he has ALL the digital files from DS9 and MOST of the digital files from Voyager, but he has no idea what happened to the stuff done by Digital Muse / Eden FX.

Robert Myer Burnett has pretty much said that CBS isn't very willing to do it because not enough people bought TNG-R. They also didn't do anything to promote it recently and priced the sets way out of most people's price range.

From what I've read they planned to pay for the DS9 transfer from the profit they get from TNG, but unfortunately the profit was too small.

Anybody know of any good side-by-side comparisons of the original effects and the 'remastered' shots of TOS?
I've read that the new shots are very faithful to the originals, and I've seen comparisons where that seems to be the case. But I also have seen shots from the originals* that are styled very differently to anything I'm seeing in 'remastered'. Stars streaking by the Enterprise, colorful space backgrounds and things like that are never seen in the new version. The shots are usually static and boring.
Also, I've only watched through the first season... Maybe a bit of the second. Maybe the shots I'm talking about come later?

*at least I'm guessing that's what they're from.. I'm not familiar with Star Trek at all.

This is my channel : https://www.youtube.com/user/TrekkieChannel - I am adding a new comparison video each weekend

And you should be watching production order, not broadcast order.

 Why?

If you watch it in the production order, you suddenly start to sense a sort of an "internal logic".

You can of course watch TOS episodes in ANY order you want, but when you watch let's say The Corbomite Maneuver you will see it was clearly intended to be a season opener, but in the broadcast order it was I think episode 10.
