Not only he wrote the Batman movies, he also produced the Paranormal Activity movies. A true artist indeed.

So… Bryan Fuller stepped down from the position of showrunner on Star Trek Discovery. Now the show will be ran by people who were never before involved in a Star Trek production. Fanfuckingtastic 😦
Have a look at these preview trailers on youtube and compare the framing with the Blu-Ray/DVD -

Some scenes, which were shot using 70mm (2.20:1 native) are slightly cropped at the sides. 90% of the film was done on super 35. And no, not all VFX plates were done on 70mm. Many plates are Super 35. They are all open-matte.
The uploader has not made this video available in your country.
Sorry about that.
Good point, girl
It looks awesome.
I much prefer the grain version. The denoised version, to me, looks like it’s not quite in focus. As to using x265… while I agree it is the way of the future, currently playback is problematic for many people including myself. Even though file sizes would be larger using x264 (for equivalent quality) x264 gives most people buttery smooth playback even at a high bitrate. I vote for x264.
Thanks for all your work on this.
I agree. I have a relatively strong computer but I had to reencode the samples so that I can actually watch them with a better framerate than 1fps
I actually tried recording a commentary like that once but the problem is that in some sections the changes go by so fast and so close to the next one, that there simply isn’t enough time to talk about them and then there are whole long stretches, where there are no changes and I didn’t know what to talk about there.
I think the solution is to do something like the “enhanced commentary” on Star Trek Into Darkness and many other movies.
Yes, the new LPs are reprints of the original soundtrack albums. I’ve got the picture LPs for Star Wars and content-wise they’re identical to my '77 soundtrack album. And I’ve got the new gold LPs for ESB and ROTJ and they also seem to be identical to their '80 and '83 counterparts, Lapti Nek, Yub-Nub and all - and the cover-art seems the same as the old ones too.
I ordered the hologram TFA LP soundtrack about a month ago too but it still has not arrived - can’t wait for that one. Before seeing this post I had no idea there were new LPs apart from the picture discs. I’ve never been very fond of picture discs, but I had just ordered the ANH one an hour before and was prepared to wait however many months for the other two just because I’ve wanted these on vinyl for ages and I’m not willing to dish out the insane prices for used copies on Amazon. Luckily I popped into this thread, cancelled the order, drove to Barnes & Noble and snagged the whole set. So thanks.
Also, I picked up the hologram TFA LP last month. You have to basically be shining a flashlight straight into it for it to work, but it’s pretty cool.
Finally got it yesterday. Here’s a 3D video I made of it: https://youtu.be/MgKxLXWGzc0
PS: Sorry for the off topic - is there a thread to discuss this stuff?
This is so cool. Can I ask what’s the turntable you’re using? I am searching for one for many years, and all which have good reviews are not available in this geographic location
This looks beautiful. Absolutely beautiful
Great!
Uploading whole movies to youtube is not only against youtube rules, but against the law.
Can the “real” theatrical version of Fellowship be obtained somehow in watchable quality? You know, the one with the car driving away?
On the contrary, I think the theatrical cuts are the ones generally with pacing problems.
Fellowship of the Ring, for example, in its theatrical incarnation feels very uneven to me, with the Mines of Moria scene seeming like a climax due to the overall faster pace/momentum of the film. It is then horribly distracting when you realize there is an hour left to the film. The Extended Edition, though slower, feels far more deliberate and what was originally intended.
The Two Towers loses a lot of the emotional development, and I never particularly felt the Extended Cut to be particularly ponderous.
Return of the King is long in any incarnation, with both versions feeling like they have uneven pacing. I still prefer the Extended for the world building, but it’s a major mistake to show the Army of the Dead agree to Strider’s terms beforehand.
I fully agree with this. Plus now I can’t watch the theatrical version anymore, it just feels “wrong” and with problematic pacing.
To answer your question - no, they don’t
Yikes, the BD looks like crap. Your matched picture looks great as always
I’m harsh with him because he’s so much better in ANH, TESB, Indy 1&2. And his scenes with Fisher in TFA are quite terrible. No chemistry, awful dialogues, and both look so bad in plain light. It’s very shoking when you watch both movies in a row.
OK and now compare his acting in TFA with his acting in any of his movies in the last let’s say 10-15 years
I’m looking forward to seeing it. I actually think TFA is not as good as I first thought, because while the acting and directing is spot on, the plot doesn’t make sense.
I would say some of the acting is actually really bad. Ford had some very awkward movements. Though to his defence, some of the dialogue/situations were just embarrassing to begin with.
His acting in TFA is head and shoulders above the phoned in performance he gave in ROTJ.
For the first time in many many years Ford looked like he actually gives a f*ck about his role. It was very refreshing to see him actually act and not just read memorized lines.
A solid response: http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/10/04/hoth-white-why-diversity-matters-in-star-wars
Sounds like complete BS to me. I stopped reading that after mentioning things like “white privilege”. Am I the only one who things that people who are obsessed with things like diversity and “positive discrimination” are the biggest racists out there?
I too can accept uniform changes, but NOT alien changes. It’s a stupid, stupid idea.
I recorded all the first broadcast with Shatner in SP on high quality VHS tapes. I have a lot of the Nimoy segments, but it was hard to catch them so most are copied (still in SP but 2nd gen) to the end of the Shatner broadcast version. I don’t have a working VCR, so if anyone wants the tapes…
I assume they’re NTSC, so I can’t help, but I hope somebody here can.
I think that the 2008 series has more good episodes than the 2003 series, however the 2003 series makes more sense and fits better to the overall chronology. The whole sequence of kidnapping Palpatine and Anakin’s spiritual journey is much better than anything in the 2008 series or the prequel movies
There are some great Star Trek shares going up on the spleen right now with stuff that isn’t your normal VHS released documentary share.
Are you talking about the “50 Iconic years” discs or are you preparing something else?
Also do I read it correctly that you’re working on the special editions?
I’ve just seen it. It’s an interesting story, which is good, but it looks and feels like an opening of Season 6 and not 4, or as a pilot to a brand new series, which is bad.
So, no comments about the season 4 opener of Agents of SHIELD yet?
