Info Wanted: Do I need to do an OT preservation dvd?
Time

There are a LOT of differing versions on here - but don't let that deter you from doing your own set.

A wealth of information on all aspects of creating a dvd set from the laserdiscs is floating around here and the lads who do them are more than happy to take questions and give tips.

It may be an idea to get hold of a couple of the sets that take your interest to see the quality and give you ideas on what has been done.

If you're a Brit then I'd recommend getting a PAL set (ie Moth3r's OT set), although all the others play fine too.

Good luck...

good call charlie

I don't ever recall seeing a Prequel Trilogy only cover here at all.

AbsoluteDestiny has been kind enough send me his file on his OT cover - posted a page or 2 back - and from that I'm hoping to come with something for the Prequel Trilogy.

Be warned though, my skills are extremely limited, and it will be a basic looking inksaver (predominantly white) cover.

Hopefully one of the very skilled lads and laddesses on here will also knock something up too...

Second thoughts - I'll be the accountant

Britain still has no extradition teaties with Brazil, does it Ric?

More shocking songs that make it my ears...

Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up' and the Jan Hammer's 'Miami Vice Theme'

though I am a child of the '80s and am therefore a sucker for a mean drumbeat or synth based track

Info: My PAL VHS Archive Collection
Time

Hi Russ - the 1994 fullscreen ROTJ cover is one that’s not seen too often - I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one before.

Good luck with the rest of the project m8 - the more PAL goodness being backed up forever, the better

If you need any help on info for the UK releases try the bbfc.co.uk website - they are surprisingly friendly lot for a bunch of censors - and have vast info on every film released in UK cinemas AND on tape.

2025 Edit: a couple of UK ex-rental tapes for Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi were recently digitise and made available…

THE Most Awesome Scene in Star Wars

I agree. It has to be Yoda raising the X-Wing from the swamp. That scene really captures the mystical element of Star Wars which has been all but destroyed by the SEs and prequels.

Definately m8 - I do wonder over time if scenes from the Prequels will be thought of in the same way?

On a different level as a teenage lad the Leia bikini scenes from ROTJ sort of stick in the memory

Super Star Wars (and 'Super Empire Strikes Back' & 'Super Return Of The Jedi')
Time

The Bizzle said:

From what I understand (had a Genesis not the SNES) but Super ESB is considered one of the 3 hardest games ever made. EVER.

Care to list the other 2 you’re thinking of mate?

Is one of them Jet Set Willy on the commodore64 or spectrum? I spent hours, if not days, as a kid trying to complete that - only to enter a room ‘wrong’ and lose all my lives. A little frustrating in that it took around 5 hours to complete the game - and no saves or time to rest etc…

As for the Super Star Wars series - bloody difficult but do remember them as highly addictive games 😃

C’mon people, it’s time to own up and admit just how bad some of your secret musical tastes are…

I’ll go with 2 for starters:-

Bananarama’s ‘Cruel Summer’ - typical '80’s crap thunk poptune

&

William Shatner’s ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’ - just so cringeworthy awful I enjoy listening to it

Found this quote from Lucas about the Fans from May '05
Time
"I agree... mostly. You have reinforced my point that the three "great" SW films are ROTS, ANH, and ESB, while the threee that "lack" are TPM, AOTC, and ROTJ. What I hate, though, are those kids who love the PT, but don't care for the OT. Those people really piss me off, because it's obvious that they only like them for the "cool" effects and flashy scenes, and couldn't care less about the story..."

^ they will grow up - and possibly appreciate the OT characters and their interaction more, along with picking up on things they missed out when they were younger whilst looking at 'kewell' explosions & creatures... (shudders)
