Yes, I agree - the president has publicly called citizens peacefully protesting “sons of bitches.” Despicable.

Citizens peacefully protesting:

Would it be wrong for the President to call them “sons of bitches”?

The only comparison you could make that’s more absurd would be to bring up actual Nazis.

“Hey, Nazis were upset with the state of Germany, these football players are upset with the state of America… you think that’s a coincidence?”

I don’t know why you would bring up the Nazis here. They were definitely not peacefully protesters.

To be honest Warbler, some may be struggling as to why you brought up the Westboro Baptists into this right now - unless you are trying to equate the protests of Westboro Baptists to the protests that occurred today?

I guess you missed this:

I was simply trying to show that some peaceful protests are bad. I think we agree that I picked a good example of a bad peaceful protest.

I have every right to be of the opinion that the peaceful protest of the National Anthem is a bad peaceful protest(but nowhere near as bad as what the Westboro Baptists did).

No mate, I didn’t miss you bringing up the Westboro Baptists into this, nor what you later wrote at all.

^Yeah I saw that on Twitter earlier today. I appreciate the attempt at a different style intro, but it did nothing for me other than make me miss all the starfields from previous intros.

Aye, I thought it quite clever on the technical aspect of it - but it had no emotion or connection for me, and had the same old riff on the music too… I know it’s only opening titles but was a little underwhelmed.

Let’s hope the actual program is better 😃

And it seems obvious the Nazis were brought into this conversation as an ironic statement, yes?

That yellow ‘bullshit’ flag you posted - on it’s own with no comment - could be considered quite inflammatory - and I’m also aware there may be those looking to push your buttons too.

So, everybody play nice - let us all not go over old familiar ground yet again, and let’s stick to what has occurred today, or other political events taking place.

Now, Puggo has made a decent point here…

I notice that in some cases, players kneeling still remove their hat and/or hold their hand over their heart. Still nobody has been able to explain how kneeling is a sign of disrespect.

For me, kneeling in this manner honours both the anthem and what it symbolises - yet is still an effective form of protest.

On a slightly different tangent I would say this criticism of NFL players protesting is quite a classic case of Trump deflecting away from the purpose of the protests - the causes of them, his inaction and and unwillingness to engage on the matter at hand…

I wonder why that is, and seems to be the case on a lot of political points during his term as President thus far?

Minor note: It might be helpful if the thread title was changed to ‘TFA: Heir to the Force (Released)’.

That would be nice. Would an admin or mod be able to make this change? I’m not sure who to ask here.

You should be able to do this by clicking on the ‘Edit’ button on your first post - and you’ll see a ‘Topic Title’ box that you can then edit.

If not, let me know what you’d like to rename the thread and I’ll do it for you mate.

Trump has opened a Pandora’s box.

I take it there are more games today / soon that may feature other players from teams also taking a similar stance? (no pun intended)

Yeah, that London game started a few hours ahead of the normal first wave of games here.

The Steelers all stayed in the locker room, which is an even more powerful statement because (I think) they can be fined by the league for this.

Thanks for that (my knowledge of US sports is somewhat lacking).

I’ve since found a useful site with continuing updates (so far) from The AP:-

and this from the BBC - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/american-football/41380275

I have neither the label sheets, nor the applicator, yet…

No, no, no! Don’t put labels on optical discs! They will deteriorate much faster than the disc itself and when they do, they can cause possibly irreparable damage to your blu-ray player!

Take a look at this article. There are also posts about this floating around this forum.

People posting disc art around are here intending it to be printed directly onto inkjet printable discs using something like this:

1

I can’t afford something like that. Besides, I’ve been spending months trying to create proper labels on Avery.com. Are you ****ing kidding me?! Only now I start to hear problems? I’ve been using all that I have (paper, cardboard, etc.) to create this set. I don’t have card stock or photo paper. I had to do it myself with what I only have in my possession, and all this hard work has stopped for something like this…Without these labels, my set can’t be completed.

Unless someone does it for me, I have no other options.

Would a friend, or local library or local printers/stationery store be able to help you out?

This thread may be of interest for a little more info on printers with ‘print-to-disc’ facilities:-

http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/What-printers-does-everyone-use-for-printing-discs-and-artwork/id/55031

Surprisingly, many printers with the print-to-disc facility aren’t much more expensive than the printers without - though obviously it is an otherwise unnecessary purchase (and ink can so expensive these days too).

Good luck with it - I really hope you complete your quality set.

By the way - superb covers and discart - very cool 😃

Sad I am, at this news… the CGI version you prefer?

Yoda isn’t at Jabba’s palace so I didn’t think I needed to specify. BUT…
Yoda looks great in ESB, but very wonky in Jedi. so… yeah. He needs lots of fixing up himself.
JEDIT- does anybody else think the stupid muppets in Jabba’s palace look as good as Yoda? Or is Jason the only crazy? 😉

😃

I’d like to see Dr Teeth, Lips, Ralph, Zoot, Janice, Floyd & Animal replace the Max Rebo band (maybe Max could stay - do have a soft spot for him).

The more Muppets in Star Wars the better - a mistake which largely contributed to the failure of the Prequel Trilogy.

‘stupid muppets’? I think we now know I’m not the only crazy here 😄

Funny that - it reminds me of Red Dawrf’s own foray into ‘music’…

Star Wars Video Games - a general Random Thoughts thread
Time

I built a very basic mini-arcade full of roms on an old pc not so long back - something for the nieces and nephews to play with when they visit (is what I told the missus)…

Out of a few thousand games on the system they really took a shine to the Super Star Wars games for the SNES (the SNES seemed to be the most popular system they play so far; 1942, Mario Kart, Metroid & DKC being the main pick) - both myself and her dad are so proud - after many many hours making idiots of ourselves playing them in our teens, these will go through the same 😃

Unfortunately any experience or gaming skill from our past playing days on it has long left us - very embarrassing having a 13 year old outperform us on the console of our youth 😃

Fair play to whoever puts these 8/16 bit homage videos together:-

Time for a fourth reboot:

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2017/sep/20/sarah-connor-returns-linda-hamilton-to-star-in-terminator-6-arnold-schwarzenegger

Again they need to annonce a new trilogy, isn’t this like the third new trilogy that they’re trying to make? How about making one good movie first… Well, I’m hopeful for the new film but the whole franchise has become a mess.

I hope Cameron addresses this (the franchise becoming a mess) and that this 6th film is somewhere close to the quality of the first two - it seems he has said that this film will carry on from T2 - but will also acknowledge some of the events from T3/4/5…

Having Linda Hamilton back & Cameron being more involved is a promising start…
