<strong>The &quot;EditDroid&quot; Trilogy DVD Info and Feedback Thread</strong> (Released)
Time

^ It’s a long shot but around page 20 of this thread there are some users who were PIF’ing the EditDroid discs way back then (it was one of the few ways we had to get discs out there back then on here - before large storage accounts, the cloud, and not everyone had a dvd writer or player - or even broadband 😃) - a few of them are still on the site and may be worth asking them if they have what you are looking for? (or know of someone who does)

I put my old disc in to see which version it is - I only have v2 - sorry.

Quality set - well in and thanks EditDroid - wherever you may be… 👍

If anyone is after covers or art work for this then are some in the Rikter Disc Collection - that can be found via links in here:-

Anyone grab the leaked character photos? Might be good for custom posters! Or if anyone knows how to upscale them to a hi-res quality that would be nice too

Are these what you are after mate? (featuring Rey, Finn, Kylo, Luke, Snoke, and the Red Guard):-

Because people give up and buy it off of him, if it were easier to acquire that would be a different story.

I agree it is a bit tedious but it really shames me that fans are WILLING to put money into this. I mean
the versions I got my hands on were from TUIG and yeah it sucks they have no menus but I can wait until I get into a private torrent site. The barebones versions are plenty to tide me over and they did take me a while to figure out how to convert MKV files to a blu-ray format but after that it was smooth sailing.

Some people find it easier to just buy them, some of us don’t have the internet speed to download 200+GB of data or blu-ray burners etc. I’ve had this argument before, but it’s just supply and demand. Until there is an easier way to get these, which I doubt there ever will be, because if that ever happened it would for sure get shut down at that point, people will always try to find a way to make an extra buck or two.

You don’t need a blu-ray burner. All you need is a DVD burner and some Dual-layered DVDs to get your hands on high quality versons of the DE’s/SSE’s. The AVC-HD versions on TUIG (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yLsvexWBVM8IYSGopKuSfsGk5YIgCwQWd23bqb5ryD4/pub) and do the multi-part rar download. If you have good internet speeds then it will download in like an hour or two, if not then it might take 3-4 hours. Then all you need is something like ImgBurn and burn it to the Dual-layered DVDs. If you’re really that desperate why not take a day to figure that out with the help of an extensive guide and a community more than willing to help you along the way. The AVC-HD versions are perfect for Dual-layered DVDs because they’re only 8-9 Gigabytes. Why wait for 5-10 days to get it in the mail for 200$ or even 50$ when you can do it for the price of some dual-layered DVDs and take just a few hours of your day. Seems perfectly acceptable to me.

Or let it go overnight or even a few nights…everyone (or so it seems) wants things instantly these days and can’t be bothered putting in some time and effort to actually obtain things that are so worth the time anyway. It actually took me something like 3 weeks to get all the files for these custom BDs and I am still yet to get onto sourcing a burner, discs and printer to print all the covers and whatnot but what is a few weeks to the many years I’ve been denied the experience of watching the theatrical versions on my TV / home cinema in a decent resolution and having it sit nicely on a shelf when not watching?

.Val

I’M SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO UPLOAD IT’S NOT MY FAULT I’M TOO CHEAP TO SPRING FOR A PAID MEGA ACCOUNT!!!

😉

LOL, this was in no way a dig at you…just a great example at hand to use. I only have appreciation for yourself sharing them with me and trying to reciprocate that kindness and community spirit by sharing with those that I believe will also greatly enjoy harmy’s and njvc’s creations and respect njvc’s wishes not to distribute these willy-nilly to try and protect against the profiteering going on.

Can’t wait to finish moving into the new house myself and get started on the next stage - actually making my own custom boxset! 😄

.Val

Good luck with your box set! I’m starting to assemble mine as well. Are you going to design it yourself, or use one of the designs available from people here on the site?

On this topic I’ve downloaded njvc’s provided box art and I’m puzzled on how your supposed to get the art applied on the disc, a special printer perhaps?

There are some printers that can print right onto a printable discs. You can also get sticker label, which I have used before, but some people have said they have problems with them. Those are the only two options that I know of. Good luck!

Option 1: The only 50 GB printable blu ray discs i can find come in bulk on Amazon for like, 100 bucks…

Option 2: I suck at applying screen protectors or any type of sticker that matter and most blank blu ray discs have a sticker label already on it with their logo or something.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K7LDZUY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AQDD1EODCLSQ8&psc=1

What would I do without this community…

Thank You!

Now to find a printer…

This may be of some assistance mate…

A Star Wars USB Drive - <em>Box, Case, Tape, Tin, Frame, Figure &amp; Cover</em> Thread...
Time

I also ‘made’ this simple poster frame to put my Star Wars usb drives in (or on) - for safekeeping…

It’s just a standard white Ikea Ribba picture frame (26cm x 20cm) which costs £4 ($5) - with a printed piece of A4 paper slightly trimmed to fit inside frame (24cm x 18cm)…

I’m not quite happy with the finished picture - and am going to attach some small white hooks to hang the USB drives onto - but am sure you get the gist…

(I also took the glass frame out of the front so it wouldn’t have any reflections / glare for the camera - it does look better with the glass in, honest 😃)

The ‘poster’ used…

Originally I was going to something with this Star Wars Kenner/Palitoy ‘poster’ below for a USB Ribba picture frame - with a few small screws or hooks to hang the USB drives on - but I didn’t have a spare black frame…

Maybe someday soon I’ll get around to it - it’ll probably look a lot better in black than white - but either is good 😃

Obviously Ikea (and other similar stores) does all sorts of differing sizes and shapes of picture frames to fit on our shelves or wall etc - and one of the cool things is with using picture frames is that we can use any Star Wars art that we want for it 😃

A Star Wars USB Drive - <em>Box, Case, Tape, Tin, Frame, Figure &amp; Cover</em> Thread...
Time

^ cheers mate - hope it comes in use for you 😃

I recently bought this for £4 ($5) delivered on ebay - a set of Star Wars cufflinks with it’s original flip-top triangular box.

I’m not a cufflinks kind of man - but the box it came with looked pretty decent - and has 2 stretchy bands in the box to firmly hold the cufflinks in place…

Now the box no longer has any cufflinks in… and instead houses a USB flash drive full of backed-up Star Wars films that look decent on the shelf next to the dvd cases and other usb boxes 😃

Any small box that could securely/firmly hold a USB drive in place should be good - whether it’s a box with Star Wars logo already on it - or applying a sticker or gluing some printer art to it etc…

Some tv’s (Look up your specific model online.) can even play video files off a usb stick. Just convert the mkv to whatever format your tv accepts with Handbrake and just plug in the usb stick, thats the method I used for awhile and am still using until I can find some blank Blu-ray discs.

Dude my TV is like 10 years old. It’s something like a 50 inch 720p-1080i Panasonic. It’s about the size of a gigantic tube TV. The main reason I use it has almost no input lag which makes it perfect for gaming. Not only that but the amount of picture settings it has for playing fullscreen tapes/DVDs, 4:3 letterboxed laserdiscs and widescreen VHS tapes makes it perfect for my needs and I haven’t found a new model TV with half the picture settings of it. Not to go off on a tangent but sorry no USB 4 me…

I guess modern Television manufacturers only account people doing some lite gaming and watching DVDs and Blu-rays. 😕

I only recently got rid of my 13 year old Panasonic 42" PWD6 monitor (with a massive 852x480 resolution) - no usb, hdmi, dvi, no speakers, not even a built-in tv tuner - just a couple of ‘panels’ (scart and rca) and a vga input…

To get around it’s limited connections… I bought a HDMI to vga adapter for £5 - and connected it to a £30 chromecast which streamed near on anything with no hassle from the pc to the tv 😃

May be an option for you mate?

(the ‘chromecast audio’ is a superb option for old hifi systems with an ‘aux in’ too…)

Also you don’t even need to spend the money on DVD’s or Blu rays, but can instead just keep the files and watch them on your computer. However I like having the physical copies. Plus there’s so much great artwork here to make a professional looking set!

Aye, there are some decent alternatives to having them on dvd/blu ray discs and in cases - a few ideas can be found in here…

http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/A-Star-Wars-USB-Box-Case-Tape-Wallet-Tin-Frame-and-Cover-Thread/id/53879

and also look around pininterest or similar sites like etsy - or re-use old Star Wars packaging or boxes etc - or browse some image search sites for ideas and inspiration…

As others have said it’s making your own set that adds to it too 😃

(and that’s not to take anything away from njvc and the many other talented people’s superb work in producing some fantastic quality covers, discart, inserts and boxes etc for this)

Box set....someday (feedback)
Time

I’m no expert… but I really like it - though if it is to be a ‘Saga’ cover covering all 3 trilogies then it’ll be interesting to see how your poster evolves given there are still 2 films to go… 😉

There’e certainly not enough Saga covers around (yet), and there are still only a few decent OT posters too that encompass the whole trilogy, detola’s being a cracker - http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Detolas-Custom-BluRay-Set-Pic-Heavy/id/52558 and looking forward to Tyler0013’s new box cover.

Yours is a very nice job in my humble opinion - the layout - the sizes and location of characters - the colouring - all look ‘right’ - and yet maintains that classic ‘Original Trilogy’ look/feel 😃

The one criticism I’d level at it is that the 3 stormtroopers underneath the Star Wars logo don’t quite look right - I think it’s a colour thing given the surrounding colours rather than the picture itself (the yellow sandy background clashes with the dusky orange?) - though a nice job blending in the 3 main types of stormtrooper from the 3 trilogies there.

Hope you do some more posters and show your cool work here - and also for your boxset - and maybe update this poster (if it needs it) when the other 2 films come out 😃

We have seen / been told that Gallifreyans regenerate into a different sex before too - The Corsair or The Master/Missy for example…

There’s that tired excuse again. This “precedent” was created after Moffat was accused of sexism and the new fangirls started demanding a female Doctor. Since then to combat that image he kowtowed and started to introduce those elements. Nowhere in the classic series is something like this hinted at. If NuWho can’t get the Doctor’s age right, I’m certainly not going to trust it with something like this.

I’ll be watching the Christmas Special and first episode of series 11 but will probably be stopping after that. I would not be surprised to see the show’s ratings start to drop after this.

Not so much a ‘tired excuse’ if it is new, no?

To me it’s all the same series - Doctor Who.

We also recently saw a Gallifreyan regenerate from an old white man into a young black woman - just seemed to be part of the Gallifreyan life.

Did it ever happen before Missy came along? Did it ever happen in the old series? We went 50 years without a regeneration causing a gender change. Moffat added that capability for PC reasons, as oojason said.

I certainly didn’t say it was for pc reasons.

Correct, you didn’t. I don’t know how I thought you had said that. I should have said “as Tobar said”. Again, you have my apologies.

No worries mate - it was a busy day in here and lots of cross-posts back and forth between a fair few people.

I wouldn’t mate - I get my little brother to hold the coat hanger in the back of the tv at the just the right angle to get an ok-ish picture for all 3 tv channels 😃

Stuff like that somehow illicits a response in my head that wants me to watch it a little less (I won’t explain why due it being a spoiler - though it’s not hard to work out if you’ve read the article).

Though fair play to those who like that sort of thing.
