Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers **

The other one is probably the Boba Fett movie right?

I hope so, though probably not. If the alleged Fett film was ready to go - but the studio got cold feet about the director (Josh Trank?) - then surely it’d have made sense to replace the director and then just carry on - though it seems this isn’t he case.

As there hasn’t been been much/any news on the 3rd standalone film it’s difficult to guess what they’re going to do as of now - though personally I’d like to see a film from the Empire point of view (whether that be a stormtrooper, officer, agent or higher-up in Palpatine’s circle).

(possible Jedi-purge and Obi-Wan themed films I think will likely be kept back until after the Sequel Trilogy finishes)

Overall I’d like to see more new stories with Anthologies instead of exploring the backstory of a bunch of OT characters. There’s a lot of risk of de-mystifying characters in a bad way (See PT for a zillion examples of this)

Yep.

New stuff please Disney.

In a few years there will essentially be two prequel trilogies. Not a pleasing thought.

There have been 2 prequel trilogies since 2005; the Holiday Special, Battle For Endor & Caravan Of Courage being one (from a certain point of view), and the TPM, AOTC & ROTS as the other Prequel Trilogy.

You’re right - it certainly hasn’t been a pleasing thought.

Thankfully, Rogue One goes up some way to making things right - though we’ll have to wait and see about the Solo film - and then whatever the next Standalone Story is about, no?

Yeah, I’ve been seeing more and more cassettes lately, starting with a Purple Rain reissue right after Prince died. I get a kick out of making the occasional mixtape, but I can’t imagine actually buying anything on that format.

cool find SilverWook, like joefavs said it seems the humble music tape is on bit of a revival - and it started me on a search once more for something a little different to store Star Wars stuff on - and ended on knocking up this cover…

Long live the tape! (and the tape boxes they came in) 😉

A Star Wars USB Drive - Box, Case, Tape, Tin, Frame, Figure & Cover Thread...
Time

Something a little different to store or backup some of our Star Wars stuff on USB Drives - as well a bit of retro nostalgia… 😃

a USB Music Tape Box Cover

I came across these USB Flash Drives in the form and size of the old music cassettes:-

There are various size USB Drives (8-64GB) and is also available in white.

Seems there are few similar options, colours & sizes on ebay - and other niche tech/audio/gadget sites too…

^ from http://www.yankodesign.com/2008/06/13/mixed-music-medium/

&

^ from https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/217032659/4gb8gb16gb-usb-mixtape-retro

I thought that it was pretty cool idea and something a bit offbeat - and so knocked around a few ideas for a tape box cover to look decent when displayed along with the usual array of Star Wars dvd/vhs/blu-ray/books & media - and came up with…

The tape cover template used…

(it was printed it on standard everyday A4 letter paper for a retro '80’s look and feel - I’ll have a go at printing on glossier card or thicker paper next time)

and a cover with the logo ‘upright’ - with a bit of space below for text/details of whatever is going on the USB drive, or favourite pic or artwork etc…

The tape cover/label was pretty easy to make - I used a very useful template size guide from this great website here:-

https://www.bandcds.co.uk/cassettes/cassette-tape-j-card-printing/

^ They will also design a tape box cover for you if you wish - along with cd wallets, digipaks, vinyl cds, other tape services and more - seems tapes are having a mini revival like vinyl has undergone in recent years…

Anyway, just an idea that thought I’d share… long live the humble music tape - and the boxes they come in!

‘Volume 2’ coming soon… 😉

The artwork above (and any of my stuff - including templates and alternative covers) can also be found on a googledrive, here:-

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0ByfjLkYDj7bRcFo4RHkzbmV6RU0?usp=sharing

Please feel free to view, download, use, edit - and vastly improve upon any of it 😃

Ewan McGregor Dispels Rumors of Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Movie…

https://www.inverse.com/article/30487-ewan-mcgregor-rumors-obi-wan-film

^ I hope that changes soon - a Jedi Purge film or an Obi-Wan film does seems a quite obvious route to go down for these new standalone Star Wars stories - though perhaps Disney will wait until the Sequel Trilogy has finished first - before delving in to what would be likely be some very popular and money-making films…

I found the cameo jarring. Would’ve preferred to have just seen them in the background on the Tantive IV.

Similar feeling here - C3PO’s line ‘Scarif!? We’re going to Scarif? Why does nobody ever tell me anything, R2?’ seems quite lengthy and breaks up the flow in amongst several quick-moving shots…

Am hoping one the coming Fan Edits trims the line a little - maybe even changed to something like ‘C’mon R2, we’re going’ etc - or just have no C3PO line and keep the scene in…

I enjoyed TFA. It was a rehash of Episode 4 yeah but wasn’t that kind of the point?

I found it to be more a re-telling of all three OT films…

This is pretty decent in explaining why (just for consideration) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pueu2wu0M5s (and only 3 minutes long - and also saves me typing out a lot of words! 😉)

I can understand why they went for that - Disney had paid $4b for the franchise, and likely didn’t want to take financial risks with their 1st SW film - whilst also wanting their new films to be of a standard, feel and quality more akin to the Original Trilogy, than the Prequels. Get the familiar beats in there, a director who’d done well with rebooting a tricky Star Trek franchise, and a ton of PR bigging up - and paying homage and tribute to - the Original Trilogy.

And THEN evolve the films in the following stories/films - taking more chances (ie, Rogue One - where the theme, content, style and ‘modernisation’ - as well as aspects not previously shown before, ie the ‘grey’ or dark’ in the Rebellion - the unpleasant face of the Alliance) - with later films.

Here’s to a somewhat different story to what we have seen before with Star Wars in The Last Jedi… 😃

this is really more about getting May out from under that “temporary caretaker government” shadow after Cameron left?

I don’t think she is seen as a “temporary caretaker government” at all, she was the overwhelmingly popular candidate for Party Leader/PM. I think it’s more about shutting up dissenting voices (of all parties) in Parliament of the “Yes we agree you’ve got a mandate for Brexit, Prime Minister… but not this kind of Brexit!” variety. She’s going to ask the country clearly and directly “Do you want a Brexit on my terms?”. The electorate will most probably answer, “Yes please!” emphatically and she can get on with the business of doing just that.

CatBus said:

Not really, I think things will change quite a bit because the Labour opposition party will most likely be wiped out due in large part to how deeply unpopular their leader (and cabinet) is, which I’m sad to say is probably for their own good in the medium to long term. Hopefully the Lib-Dem party will get back some seats after they were annihilated at the last election.

I think the general consensus is that the Conservative party will win.
This is possibly a misjudgement. When Gordon Brown the most unpopular PM for aeons finally got around to doing what May is doing here after inheriting a gulf war mess from Blair all the Tories could manage was a coalition. They were expected to lose the last election or have to make another coalition with UKIP or some other party.
The secret ingrediant to their majority was Brexit. UKIPers flipped sides to insure they got the referendum. Scotland evicted Labour for supporting the Conservatives and the Liberals lost their nice guy image propping up the Tories in coalition and breaking their manifesto pledges.
We have now a slightly different world. Brexit has happenend, it can’t unhappen so UKIP doesn’t need to exist anymore. Austerity isn’t working and isn’t popular. The SNP need someone the can do business with in Downing Street and May is not that PM.
Corbyn has always been anti-EU (just like Tony Benn). The old Labour zealots that voted Tory to get Brexit may return to the fold now that Brexit is unavoidable. The people that voted Tory as a protest against Blair and Brown will now vote Green rather than vote for the Tories.
My prediction Corbyn will suprise everyone by narrowly winning with the remainers voting against the Conservatives with the same zeal that the Brexiteers voted for them.
That’s if he stays of the hills and doesn’t have a heart attack.

I hope you’re proven right mate.

Is my understanding correct that this isn’t really expected to change anything substantive? i.e. the people, parliamentary percentages, policies, etc, aren’t really expected to change much at all, but this is really more about getting May out from under that “temporary caretaker government” shadow after Cameron left?

Basically what Ryan McAvoy said - unless there some shocks or leaked surprises coming out soon (cough, election expenses fraud and fallout of, cough) it seems the Tories will likely win this. It’d be interesting if Corbyn came out and stated if Labour got in he would reverse Brexit - or stage a 2nd referendum, or give the Scots a 2nd referendum too - but that is very unlikely to happen.

Labour have struggled to get their message across in the media - a majority right-wing media and a frightened BBC - but just haven’t been able to engage with the floating voters or people who would consider voting for them. That said, they struggled to do that with more centrist Labour politicians in charge too. I don’t see that changing - the media like others have said will target divisions within Labour - and not give time/space to the actual message or pointing out failings/shortcomings of the Govt etc.

So, it looks like we’re in for more ‘austerity’ (when it’s actually under the guise of Tory idealogy) on top of the 7 years we’ve already endured - more cuts to local govt services, more cuts NHS and emergency services, more cuts to social care, more cuts to benefits, more cuts to the disabled, more cuts to schools, less job security, more cuts to freedoms, more cuts to free/subsidised legal access, a country of less equality…

and more money to ‘free’ schools, grammars, more privatisation, more pollution, more children in poverty, more pensioners choosing either heat or food, more food banks and use of, more homelessness, more zero hour contracts, more arms sold to Arab states with horrific human rights, and more money to London at expense of elsewhere - and top of that a higher cost of living due to the coming (and already happening) effects of Brexit.

No wonder the Prime Minster won’t go on a tv debate with the other leaders - it’s a no win situation for her (and debating is not her strong point - not from her displays in the HoC anyway).

She just has to shut up and let the media do the work for her (along with an Opposition still infighting).

Fuck.
