your thoughts: Did Disney kill star wars because it sounds like they did with the last jedi solo and resistance.

For me, no. Not sure why TFA and Rogue One aren’t included in your post (they are Disney-era Star Wars too, yes?) - yet here goes…

I didn’t get past the first few episodes of Resistance - though I imagine it’s generally aimed more for a younger audience than this mid-40’s fan. I’ll likely watch it with nephews and nieces - seems a decent intro for them into all things Star Wars. Though including a new animated tv series that hasn’t yet reached the end of it’s first season in your post that partially ‘Did Disney kill star wars because it sounds like they did’ kill Star Wars… seems somewhat strange.

What is ‘sounds like they did’? Internet gossip and videos? Other fans’ (or media) negative / clickbait views? Box office? I don’t care much for those to be honest - more of a case ‘did I enjoy these films’? And for the most part, yes - I did. A few parts I didn’t like, or thought could have been handled better - though am still yet to see a ‘perfect’ film (Star Wars or not)

Has Disney ‘killed SW’ with the content you listed? For me, no - my enjoyment of the films (and also criticisms) hasn’t been diminished by some claiming it sounds like Disney ‘killed’ it - whatever that vague / open question means.

Are they up there with the OT? Not for me (Rogue One apart). Still, with an episode to still come with the Sequel Trilogy… they’ve been a lot more enjoyable than the Prequels for me - and has seen the SW universe return to a welcome OT feel and vibe. That’s not to say I didn’t have issues with them (tone and impact of certain events), as well as some of the choice made so far.

I’m eagerly looking forward to IX, and also both The Mandalorian and Cassian Andor tv series - with some intrigue for RJ and the GOT lads’ respective SW trilogies to come (though kind of difficult to be excited in something of which we know nothing about - though hope they are both on a par with their previous quality bodies of work). Personally, I hope they’ll be set apart from the main Saga or timeframes we’ve seen so far - perhaps stories around the KOTOR era, or the GFFA set in the future - would be most welcome.

I actually made a thread about this, and the whole 1977 “interview”, a few years ago, and I wouldn’t put too much faith in anything claimed in it. Turns out that Lucas tampered with that interview when it was printed in the “The Making of Star Wars” book in order to make it more compatible with the PT.

What’s interesting though, is that this version of Threepio’s origin was eventually canonized in a comic. So in Legends canon, Threepio was never actually created by Anakin, but rather just rebuilt.

Intriguing read that mate, thanks.

does display type matter ?

Impressive stuff (and am off for a Pink Floyd session later 😃)

Got to admit I wish I kept my old CRT tv from years back - was great for watching sci-fi films on in that it seemed to have a depth of quality not really there for many of the-then modern flatscreen tv’s at the time (Pioneer and Panasonic plasma units apart). The CRT did take up fair bit of room though, IIRC - yet gave off a fair bit of heat, which wasn’t bad for cold nights in front of the tv in a small room.

Loved The Witchfinders episode, yes the ending seemed a bit rushed/quick, though the cinematography, performances & humour - and enjoyment of it - are all still going strong…

SPOILERS

and yet the villains were genuinely creepy / scary - the much underrated Siobhan Finneran was on form, Alan Cumming was great - a great mix of humour and a layered performance for the darker moments, as well as a few pointers to a dark period of history once again. Nice mix of tech and aliens too…

Only two episodes of the season left… (plus the New Year Special)

Someone has kindly (and jokingly) put together a complaint form for viewers displeased with whatever they are displeased with each week:-

Star Wars Video Games - a general Random Thoughts thread
Time

Recently completed Rogue Squadron & Battle For Naboo (all Gold Medals) on the N64…

and so took the retro plunge and bought a Gamecube bundle - the console & leads, 2 official controllers, memory card, and… Rogue Leader, Rebel Strike, Jedi Outcast, Clone Wars, Bounty Hunter, and Lego SW Original Trilogy - all for the price of a new ‘AAA’ console/pc game.

Not bad for 6 Star Wars games - maybe get the Lego Prequel Trilogy game later on if nostalgia holds firm (7 Star Wars games on 1 console… not bad; even if a couple weren’t highly rated 😃)

May also get Mario Kart, TimeSplitters and some of the Resident Evil series etc - seem to be all going cheap.

Hopefully these two coming live action Star Wars tv/streaming series by ILM TV will give a few of the highly talented and ingenious Fan Editors on here some content to work with for their respective edits - especially if shot and done with that Star Wars style/vibe…

(as well as being quality and enjoyable series in their own right, of course…)

American christian potentially spreads pathogens capable of killing an entire tribe of pre-contact indigenous people, all in the name of Jesus.

I’ve read a few articles on this - and am still struggling to understand why someone would risk the lives of the tribe (as you say) - who have repeatedly demonstrated for a long time they wish to be left alone - (as well as risking their own lives) to spread the word of Christianity - or any religion for that matter.

Laptop recommendations?
Time

Seems like a gaming-spec type machine may be a decent fit for your needs mate.

I’m a Brit so don’t know what’s a bargain your side of the pond - though if you were over here I’d recommend trying something like the Dell Outlet store (and other outlet stores) - and look around for an Alienware laptop (they are usually heavily discounted as they are ‘returns’ or ‘scratch and dents’. There are a few (if you’re quick) going for just over half-price / a third off retail price.

https://www.dell.com/learn/us/en/22/campaigns/outlet

Best thing is to likely phone them instead of ordering online - the sales girls and lads are quite friendly and knowledgeable (the UK ones are, anyway) and will usually throw in a laptop bag or other extra to seal the deal - and they’ll be able to describe in detail any scratch or dents - or maybe why it was returned (unwanted gifts are the main reason).

You should get a full 12 month guarantee (though again I’m only guessing you’d get that in the US as you would in the UK) - so best check beforehand.

Am sure there are better / cooler makes than Alienware out there - though I find them reliable, tough, well-built, likely to last a good few years, and are good value for money on the whole. Sort of safe bet for people who want/need a good spec machine - without having to be a laptop spec guru 😃

(an i5 or i7, with 16gb RAM, 256GB SSD & 1TB HD, with a GTX 1060 graphics card - or higher… should suffice for a few years)

Good luck with it - hope someone else can offer you more detailed / better info Stateside.

A Star Wars USB Drive - Box, Case, Tape, Tin, Frame, Figure & Cover Thread...
Time

Came across an old Kenner figure template of old earlier today, thought it may be an idea for storing a USB drive full of Star Wars projects - or an external drive…

Buy a cheap acrylic display case for single Star Wars kenner / palitoy figures from ebay (or similar) for around $3/4…

and use a template like this for whatever content you are going to store on the USB / external drive…

Original sized 1795x2719 image can be found here - https://i.imgur.com/OteQAOU.png

Then fill in the black space with, for example, an adywan image or logo, or Despecialized image, 4K release, or just a Star Wars image you like (or leave it blank of using an external drive).

Cut the template to size of the display case - and you have a cheap custom-made storage display case for your Star Wars projects / films etc.
