What's the situation with Lucas saying he "forgot" to insert Temuerra Morrison's voice into the OT?
Time
I doubt the Rebellion had a training academy ("And if the new droids do work out, I wanna transmit my application for the Academy this year!").

Besides, Lucas wanting to dub the Stormtroopers with Tem Morrison must be a legend. The new line, "There's no one here!" is proof that George Lucas has been looking at these scenes. If he wanted to add Temuerra's voice and forgot it while supervising the alternation of these scenes, he would have been too stupid to even walk.

Actually, you will find that many people here do not mind Lucas' changes. The problem is that he (although he supports fan preservations) doesn't give us the choice to watch the original theatrical versions on DVD. I don't mind the changes - matter of fact, I probably like most of them more than you other guys - but it's the lack of a real choice that makes me support this site.

Generally, when you're a left-wing in Europe, you're what right-wing Americans would probably refer to as a "dirty commie bastard". The politics are probably a lot less conservative here. People can swear on TV, most movies are uncensored etc. As far as I know, Britain is really the only country here that is more strict when it comes to censorship.

Okay, lemme just answer the old one...

1. You loved Jake Lloyd in Phantom Menace

Nope, but I think he did okay. What were you expecting to see? Little Ani force choking his playmates?

2. You think that George Lucas planned the entire backstory in the 70's, so you blame all the plotholes on the OT.

As others have said before me, he did have a backstory. It just wasn't fleshed out. But the plotholes are courtesy of the PT, no doubt about that.

3. Your least favorite Star Wars movie is Star Wars.

Not when it comes to all 6 of them, but it might be compared to the other OT installments.

4. You hope that Yoda goes cgi in the next version of Empire and Jedi

Fuck no.

5. You hope Palpatine and Yoda appear in the next version of Star Wars

They better not.

6. You'd love to have Duel of the Fates added to all the OT lightsaber fights

No way.

7. The Padme/Anakin romance scenes did not make you laugh and the dialogue in those scenes was perfect.

They didn't make me laugh, but they were a tad awkward.

8. You LOVE seeing Hayden at the end of Jedi

Yeah, but I think he needs to do a re-take for the obligatory "archival editions".

9. You think the PT would have existed even if the OT had never been made

Eh... what?

10. You think that all three prequels will stand the test of time and be even more popular 20 years after their releases than the OT films were.

I think they'll age well, but the popularity will never surpass the OT.

11. Jar Jar Binks did not bother you that much. In fact, you secretely like him.

See my earlier post.

12. You think Dex's diner is way cooler than the Mos Eisley Cantina

No, but I did like Dex's diner.

13. You wish Vader had a new love interest in the OT

I'm not into S/M, so no.

14. The OT films look like they were made 50 years ago to you

Nope.

15. You don't understand half the stuff that happens in Phantom Menace but you love it anyway

It certainly got more understandable with AOTC and ROTS!

As far as I know, Jango's death wasn't cut. The headbutt in the Obi-Wan/Jango-fight was. Quite stupid if you ask me. Here in Denmark it's uncut and rated 11.

1. You sat through all 3 in the cinema

Aye!

2. You own them all on DVD

Well, not TPM (VHS). If I can get the old 2-disc, I'll buy it.

3. You think they help the Saga

In certain areas, yes. In others, no.

4. You keep the Lucas versions as the real thing and not fan edits

Yep.

5. You dont mind Jar Jar

As long as he doesn't step in puddu or sniff farts.

6. You think it was cool to see how 3P0 evolved

Yes, but I wish he had not been involved with Anakin and Owen.

7. You would defend Hyden in the same way you would ark

Dunno. I certainly don't think he deserves all the immature heckling ("YOU RUINED STAR WARS!").

8. You realise Plot holes exisit only becuase they enable other things in happen as Lucas wanted

Nah, not really.

9. You would pick the PT over the HS

Haven't watched the HS in its entirity. Gimme a few days!

10. You have a ton of PT stuff

Well, no.

11. You think Darth Maul is kick ass

Damn right he is!

12. You dont mind seeing Famous people in Star wars, seeing as they do a good job at acting

I dare you to say Ewan McGregor sucked.

13. You watched the Clone Wars Cartoon

Nope (no Cartoon Network).

14. You are looking forward to seeing the TV show

Yeah.

15. You hope there will be no PT:SE

Depends what Lucas intends to change.

Well, my advice would be to leave the tiny things alone. It'll take the charm out of the film, and that is one of the things I think went wrong with the PT. I can't possibly see why "I expect to be well-paid! I'm in it for the money!" can be cringe-inducing. Cringe-inducing would be Jar Jar stepping in a turd and expressing his disgust in Jamaican. Most of the OT should be left alone.

Making Ewan and Hayden do re-shoots?! Who's gonna pay the bill? Not that I don't support these projects, but don't get in over your heads!

I was also thinking of another picky idea to put on my site, and I wanna get some feedback on it first. In ANH Han Solo says, "I expect to be well paid. I'm in it for the money." What if...we reversed those two lines? I think it would make a lot more sense and go much better with the conversation. Check it out:

HAN: I'm not in this for your revolution and I'm not it for you, princess. I'm in it for the money and I expect to be well paid.

LEIA: If money is all that you love, then that's what you'll receive.

I think it works pretty well...any thoughts?

Well, again, it's completely unnecessary. Changes that improve the continuity are all right, but this is, no offence intended, crazy.

He and his team dropped the ball in almost every way. It's a showcase of bad acting and missed opportunities. A textbook example of how NOT to make a film. Hence the reason we're trying to save this film from the fumbles of its own creator.

I always liked the idea of using "Duel of the Fates" for the title. But, it violates the "of the" rule.

What rule? If it sounds good, use it. That's the only thing I'd care about...

It's not exactly a hack-job. I watched it recently and apart from Jar-Jar and the poop-jokes, I actually enjoyed it. It's a decent piece of fun escapism and that's what Star Wars is all about. Besides, the original title is probably the best thing about it! But if you're looking for an alternative, I'd suggest "Episode I: Duel of The Fates" myself.

I found MagnoliaFan's original quote. Seems like I misread it.

When George oversees effects shots (as you can see in "The Beginning" and the EP II Behind the Scenes docs), he approves various individual shots done by different artists. He's only looking closely at the one shot, out of context.
When he later saw it all put together, he was probably so caught up in the sound mix and other things, that it blew right past him.
While they were working on III, he happened to watch ESB, caught it, and commented that they would have to fix that "next time".

Don't know where he got it from, but the guy has been to the Ranch - he does have a certain amount of credibility!
