Did Rodrequez really shoot the cut reel from the middle of Planet Terror outta intrest?

Yes, both movies were shot completely, since they weren't sure they could get the studios to agree with the Grindhouse format.

In this broadcast Planet Terror was second and the early Machete trailer was replaced with the actual movie trailer.

Info: Star Wars Laser Disc 1989 I found the same problem in the 1992 version "Incredible Shrinking Ratio"
Time

Not sure where to bring this up, but have been floating through SW webpages from the mid 90s and came across this 'Star Wars : Definitive Collection Flaw List'  sounds similar to this threads issue.

Laserdisc is not my forte, is this common SW LD knowledge?

Lucas dies. World mourns. Consumer and liscensee confidence in the "SW" brand drops.

The OOT is released in a pristine restored BluRay condition. Rereleased to theaters. Sells millions, revitalizing company.

So they can do what?

Understand the pipe dream senerio, but add in a bit of reality. I'll start:

Agree with the first two, but the third is hogwash. People still like Disney shit even though Walt is gone and Roy's consistently questioned.

Agree the OOT will be released. We'll be past BluRay at that point. Might not be theaters then. Earn biagillion space bucks sure. but not sure what a revitalized company will bring about.

Would rather Lucas before death appreciate the public sphere's ability to preserve his work and he offers them into the Public Domain.

Ok back to the looonie bin I go. and that has nothing to do with the topic.

Lucasfilm could be seen as setting up Filoni (content), Woods (Skywalker Sound), Knoll (ILM), Roffman (stays as marketing) as SWs future overlords.

*EDIT*

or Pixar will purchase LFL.  They've got the content people which LFL at the moment seems to be lacking.

Prophets of Science Fiction featuring Ridley Scott - Science Channel

The network today announced the greenlight of the eight-episode series that will profile great minds of science fiction who later inspired “science fact.” PROPHETS OF SCIENCE FICTION explores legendary figures; including Isaac Asimov, Gene Roddenberry and George Lucas, and examines how their work often inspired future discoveries decades before they took place.

Zion since the thread is yours, might want to update the first post with the recent 'here's where things stand post' link.

and if you can find the Laserman post alluded to.

It's not going to make the bumps go away, but it'll make the explanations easier, "go see first post".

If GL were to die in the near future, Howard Roffman is your interrum CEO.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Roffman

He's been there since the beginning, has worked up the system understands how to keep it going.  But he's not a creative output person.  People might transfer GL's creativity into his kids, but beyond Katie's writing there are few signs of the kids keeping the LFL alive.  I would guess it massively shrink and like some of his other funds, the name could be used to endorse up and coming film creators.  This way the LFL earned moneys go back into the continuation of film making.

I would change "none" to "None"

How about "all?"

Euuuu gives me the willies when people capitalize it.  Identifier should have been %20 but forums don't like the it... boo.

none is now percent20

Actually that would be "percent sign two zero"  %20 is the hexadecimal code for hitting the spacebar.  So Davnes007's interpretation is getting the joke.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexadecimal

When I was making audio compositions, the moniker would cause file sharing and mp3 players to error.  The free that keeps confused.  Still do 300-500 megs a day and no one writes.  Here's an example of why:

One day i'll perform this live, somewhere.

I know someone already did this with shots from the recent ILM documentary, but it would be interesting to see a TPM comparison between the dvd/hbo/cinemax/spiketv version and the new trailer.

Where was this?

She's got curves upstairs:

Agree the PT/OT don't look related, and i've lost the grasp of english to figure out why.  It's the Uncanny Valley but for Everything.  Even though I understand the sets are suppose to have flat floors, (the Arena/landing facility as you've chosen) but it's that computer infinitely flat that's just unrealistic.  Not impossible, but unlikely.

Weird blu logo (in the trailer, not in this pic), do they have to have everything bluish when it comes to blu-ray?

*EDIT*

Preliminary details:

There will be three different box sets: one for the original trilogy, one for the prequel trilogy and one for the complete saga -- a 9-disc set!

Yes, friends, you will soon be able to buy the Star Wars hexology on Blu(harvest)-ray -- including 30 hours of special features!

I thought the TPM opening day digital projection (which only played in four theatres in the U.S., two in Jersey, two in Cali) was the exact same edit as the 35mm. Are you thinking of the pre-release version where Darth Maul's body doesn't split in half?

This is probably correct.  Having problems recalling a difference from the digital TPM and haven't been able to find something online.  As for the single Maul, wasn't the rating already set by the time of the charity screenings?  So wasn't the 'not split in half' only a few random screens?  Need to check forum posts to corroborate.

Baronlando wrote:

Wasn't it a possibility that there were some 35mm EMPIREs that made it out opening day for drive-in theaters?

I would guess that 35mm prints for all the films were out opening days.  I've made the assumption that 70mm would be the 'first published' because movies often premiere in LA and NY in those big classic theaters which have 70mm equipment.  But realisticly yes 35mm were out, and those versions will most likely be considered the 'first published' because they represent the biggest percentage of screens in first release.  But let's hear that from the LoC people before agreeing to this conclusion.

*EDIT*

Confirmation of the Maul 'not cut' in pre-release screenings.

http://www.theforce.net/episode1/story/SPY_REPORT_Going_All_to_Pieces_78308.asp

Unfortunately, that second version did make it into a few pre-release screenings for critics and theater chain execs.
